Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road, with John Elser, chaplain of Thomas Creek Veterans Administration Medical Center, officiating and military rites by DAV Chapter No. 26. Mr. Adams was born June 2, 1932, in Maybell to Charles Alva Adams and Ola Maye Henson Adams. He formerly lived in Amarillo for 35 years, was employed by Amarillo Fire Department as a firefighter and also taught commercial electronics at Amarillo College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army. Mr. Adams was retired and currently resided in Port Falls, Idaho. Survivors include his wife, Arlene of Port Falls; three sons, Gene of Phoenix, James of Alvin and Charles of Amarillo; two daughters, Cindy Smith of Amarillo and Rene McDonald of Proctor, Okla.; two brothers, Jimmy Wade of Amarillo and David of Caldwell; four sisters, Joyce Hughes Baker of Amarillo; Kay Moore of Avery, Idaho, Linda Colvin of Caldwell and Judy Brinker of Canada; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Roger Foote, pastor of Northside Baptist Church of Plainview, officiating, and Masonic rites by Amarillo Masonic Lodge No. 731 and military rites by the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Beard was born in Minor Hill, Tenn., and moved to Texas in 1935. He served with the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. He was a retired assistant control operator with Southwestern Public Service Co. Mr. Beard was a member of the Moose Lodge, the VFW and Amarillo Masonic Lodge No. 731. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Yreva Beard on Jan. 11, 1995; and a son, Mike Beard on May 28, 1993. Survivors include his wife, Billie F. Amarillo Globe-News, June 23, 2006 ======================================================================== Stanley D. Bailey Stanley D. Bailey, 71, of Amarillo died Wednesday, June 21, 2006. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Southwest Baptist Church with Randy Land, pastor of First Baptist Church of Brownfield, officiating. Burial will be in Rowe Cemetery in Hedley by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mr. Bailey was born Sept. 11, 1934, in Hedley, was raised there and was a 1952 graduate of Hedley High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 until 1956. He married Virginia Darlene Milton on May 20, 1955, in Hedley. He moved to Amarillo in 1956 to go to work for the Amarillo Fire Department and remained a firefighter until his retirement in 1990. He owned and operated Bailey's Backhoe Service from 1976 until 2003. Mr. Bailey was a private pilot and had his pilot's license since 1956. He bought his first airplane in 1956 and enjoyed flying for 50 years. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and fellow firefighters and was known for his pranks and practical jokes. He enjoyed being with his family and loved being "Papa" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Southwest Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Elmore Bailey. Hughes St. Cecil Johnson was born March 10, 1927, to Leslie and Anna Johnson in Henderson County. He married Mattie Lee Stubblefield on April 20, 1946. They became the proud parents of one son and three daughters. The family moved to Amarillo from Childress in 1951. Mr. Johnson was a member of Emmanuel Church of Amarillo. Prior to his retirement he was employed in the construction business. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; a sister; two daughters; and a grandchild. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. He was born on July 11, 1949, in Dallas. On July 10, 1971, he married Pamela Palmer in Amarillo. After graduating from Tascosa High School, the University of Oklahoma, and Baylor College of Dentistry, he completed a residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Baylor University Medical Center. For the past 27 years he had a private practice in Amarillo. Professionally, Dr. Redus served as president of the Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, president of Panhandle District Dental Society and chairman of the Texas Board of Health, Emergency Health Care Advisory Committee. In 1997, he was named as the Texas Emergency Medical Services "Man of the Year." Ron was a Christian man devoted to his family and committed to serving others. He was an avid sportsman, never missing the annual Baylor Oral Surgeons' trip. He and Pam loved traveling the world together. He was a passionate volleyball dad and a loving Pop-Pop to Reagan and Brooks. Survivors include Pam, his wife of 35 years; two daughters, Mary Ann Leinen and husband Derek and Rebecca Redus; a son, Clark Redus of Austin; grandchildren, Reagan and Brooks Leinen; his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Lonnie C. A private graveside for the family will be prior to the service in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Charlie was born Feb. 13, 1930, in Halletsville. He joined the Air Force in 1948 and retired as a master sergeant in 1969. After his retirement, Charlie went to work at Pantex for eight years. It was there that he met the love of his life, Lenore Cole, and they married on Sept. 4, 1970. He then went to work for Owens Corning and retired from there in 1992. Charlie was a member of First Baptist Church, Don Babcock's Sunday school class and Palo Duro Masonic Lodge No. 1239. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and working in the yard. Charlie touched the hearts and lives of all that knew him, and will be greatly missed. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Grace United Methodist Church in Plainview with the Rev. Rusty Dickerson of Amarillo officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Mr. Jones was born Sept. 25, 1913, in Clarendon, and graduated from Plainview High School. He married Othella Rousser on July 13, 1935, in Plainview. He was a longtime member of the Methodist churches in Hart, where he was a board member, Tulia and Dimmitt. He farmed and raised cattle in Hart from 1945 to 1976, where he also owned and operated a farm supply store. In early 1976, he moved to Tulia, where he continued to farm and raise Angus cattle until retiring in 1996. After retiring he moved to Dimmitt, where he lived until moving to Amarillo several years ago. He was a board member and trustee in the National Farmers Organization, served as president of the Greater West Texas Angus Association, was a member of the American Angus Association and the Texas Farm Bureau. He also served as a director of the Texas Grain Sorghum Producers Board and was a member of the Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his wife on Dec. 2, 2000; and his parents, C.B. and Ruby Jones. Survivors include two daughters, San Rhodes of Amarillo and Jeton Edge of Denver; a son, Weldon Jones of Hart; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Hazle Fields of Jacksonville. Esther Marie Essary was born July 10, 1929, in her grandparents' home in Finney County, Kan., to Helen Elizabeth and Ralph Waldo Adams. She passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2006, in Oklahoma City at the age of 76 years, 11 months and 11 days. Esther lived with her parents in the Lakin, Kan., community, where she graduated from high school. She graduated from Fort Hays, Kan., and began teaching. Esther taught for two years and then began working at the grocery store. She married Daniel Wilson Essary on Oct. 31, 1955, in Spearman, Texas. They lived in Borger, Texas, before moving to the Erick/Texola communities. Esther served as the last postmaster for Texola from 1987 until May 2005. She was a member of Texola Baptist Church. She moved to Elk City in 2006 to be near her daughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Daniel Essary; and a great-grandson, Tanner Graham-Curtis. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Holly Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Martin's Funeral Home. Mr. Gregory was a graduate of Plainview High School. He met Betty in Amarillo in early 1948 and they married June 13, 1948, in Denver, Colo. He had lived in Colorado Springs, Houston, Amarillo, Fort Worth and DeCordova Bend Estates in Hood County near Granbury. After graduation, Mr. Gregory worked for short periods of time for oil companies and motor carriers. In September 1957 he accepted employment with the Interstate Commerce Commission as a safety inspector in Houston. He was transferred by promotions to Fort Worth and Amarillo with managerial responsibilities for the region. He retired in October 1980. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Betty Jean Steffey Gregory. He married Helen Lemons on Nov. 19, 1938, in Amarillo. After living in Amarillo and White Deer, he and his family moved to Pampa in 1955. He and his wife owned and operated Hi-Land Fashions from 1955 until his retirement in 1980. During his retirement, he and his wife lived for 12 years in Pala Mesa and Fallbrook, Calif. In 1999, Mr. Wells and his wife moved to Dallas. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pampa and a member of the Pampa Noon Lions Club. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving inWorld War II in the Admiralty Islands in the Pacific. He was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters; and a brother.
