Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Laurence Cathedral. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Flores was born March 17, 1924, in Monterrey, Mexico. He married Micaela Tovar on April 19, 1947. He worked in the trucking business as a custom hauler. He was a member of St. Laurence Cathedral. Survivors include his wife, Micaela Tovar Flores of Amarillo; six sons, Juan Flores of Sugar Land, Arturo Flores, Patricio Flores Jr. and Jose L. Flores, all of Amarillo, Sisto Flores of Portland, Ore., and Javier Flores of Dallas; six daughters, Gloria Flores and Mickey Flores, both of Dallas, Lydia Ruiz of Amarillo, Carmen Rodriguez of Albuquerque, N.M., Rebecca Gomez of Dumas and Berta Lopez of Corpus Christi; six brothers, Santana, Juan, Pablo, Sixto, Domingo and Jesus Maria Flores, all of Monterrey; two sisters, Guillermina and Felipa, both of Monterrey; 28 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Richmond, 86, of Amarillo died Saturday, June 24, 2006. Vigil services were at 6 p.m. Tuesday in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Deacon Jim Brown officiating. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. today in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Monsignor Joseph Tash as celebrant. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Richmond was born Feb. 14, 1920, in Nogales, Ariz., to Joseph and Susan Richmond. He graduated from Austin Peabody in El Paso and went on to Tennessee Tech on a golf scholarship. He married Jean Nuss on July 2, 1957, in California. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from the armed services as a lieutenant colonel. He moved to Amarillo in 1968 with wife Jean, daughter Nadine and son Mike. Joe worked at several businesses from assistant innkeeper of Holiday Inn, The Only Place Restaurants, Y Pony baseball commissioner and longtime manager of the Amarillo Town Club. Joe was a longtime member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, as well as several community organizations such as the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce and AMBUCS. Joe was a proud booster of West Texas A&M University athletics, and enjoyed golf, fishing, cards and playing pool with friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean C. Richmond, in 2004. Survivors include a daughter, Nadine Doerfler and husband Mark of San Antonio; a son, Mike Richmond and fiancee Fei of Reno, Nev.; a sister, Susan C. Richmond of The Villages, Fla.; and a granddaughter, Paula Doerfler. The family suggests memorials be to National Glaucoma Research, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, P.O. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Brooks Funeral Directors Chapel with Shane Nease, pastor of Living Water Christian Fellowship, officiating. Blake Overton Hefley was born Aug. 26, 1928, near Commerce. He graduated from Texas Tech with a bachelor's degree. After college he served in the Air Force for four years in Virginia. Blake married Margie McAdams on Dec. 6, 1952. Blake and Margie moved to Tulia in 1957. He taught high school in Tulia and Silverton for 20 years. Blake was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Tulia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie, in 2002; a brother, Riley Hefley; and his parents. Survivors include a daughter, Diana Hefley of Lubbock; a son, Richard Hefley and wife Reba of Canyon; two brothers, Lynn Hefley of Hungerford and Wayne Hefley of Iowa; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He served in the Navy during World War II and received several medals, one of which was the Purple Heart. He married Betty Ann Ward in Pampa and lived there for 25 years. He worked for Texaco Inc. and retired in 1982. After retirement, he moved to Riverton, Wyo., and later moved to Fritch. Services celebrating his life will be at 10 a.m. today in Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper. Mr. Barker was born May 1, 1933, in Amarillo to Ludie R. "L.R." and June Faye Stivers Barker. Bill graduated from Amarillo High School. Bill joined the Army, and after a four-year hitch, he attended the University of Texas, where he graduated with a degree in business. He started a career with the FDIC as a bank auditor. During this time, he met Rosemary J. Stevens in Dallas and married in 1962. He retired from the civil service and started another career with E Systems in Greenville, and finally retired for good with Helium Corporation. Bill and Rosemary went back to his roots in Amarillo where they RV'd about the country before coming to the Hill Country in 1999. Bill grew up hunting and fishing. He also loved the outdoors. When traveling about the country he always stopped to check things out. Bill also had a special place for "lost" dogs. He had several rescued dogs - his last one, Charlie, still perks up his ears and comes a running wagging his tail when he hears the roar of Bill's diesel truck. Survivors include his wife; two nieces, Lynda Crawford of Austin and Carolyn Greenfeld Pederson of Niceville, Fla.; and a nephew, Alan R. Crawford and wife Sherri of Buchanan Dam.
