Beach John W. Beach, 82, of Amarillo died Sunday, July 2, 2006. Celebration of life services will be at 2 p.m. today in Cornerstone Church with James Loper, pastor, officiating. Burial will be Friday in Fort Sill, Okla. John was born Aug. 18, 1924, in Kansas City, Mo., and was adopted by Jessie and Warren Beach of Florence, Kan. After graduation from Newton High School, John would serve in the Navy in World War II. He went on to receive his bachelor of journalism degree from the William Allen White School of Journalism at Kansas University. This talented, diverse gentleman would head his own advertising agency in Wichita, Kan., become president of Louisiana Marketing in Lake Charles, La., and vice president of sales and marketing for PSI Environmental Group in Lawrence, Kan., before retiring in Pensacola, Fla. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Warren and Jessie Branch; and a baby brother. Survivors include his wife, Ann of Amarillo; a daughter, Nancy Klein and husband Blake of Amarillo; five sons, William Beach and wife Annabelle of Alexandria, Va., John R. Beach of Wichita, Brian Faulkner of Neosho, Mo., Bradley Faulkner of Yuma, Ariz., and Brock Faulkner and wife Vicki of Acworth, Ga.; five grandchildren, Christopher, Brent and Emily Klein, all of Amarillo, and Alissa and Austin Faulkner, both of Acwoth. Georgia St. Dottie was born in Texas and made her home in Amarillo for more than 50 years. She married Charles "Bud" Ross in Logan, N.M. He preceded her in death in 2001. She was the owner of Dottie's Homade Cakes located in Central Grocery Store for eight years. Prior to her illness, she joined the Wal-Mart family where she served as a greeter for more than 11 years and quickly became known as "Miss Dottie." Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Emmanuel Church of Amarillo with the Rev. Joe Taylor, pastor, and Tom Jones, elder, officiating. Frank William Savage was born June 5, 1918, in Silvin to the Rev. Leroy T and Laura Ann Savage. He attended public schools in Detroit, and moved to Amarillo about 1946 after serving in the U.S. Army. He was employed as a detail specialist with Car City for 37 years. After he retired from Car City, Frank was a greeter at Foods for Us, where he "greeted every customer with a smile." He was a member of Langston Memorial Church of God in Christ for many years before moving his membership over to Emmanuel Church of Amarillo ... playing his guitar all the way. He married the love of his live, "Niece," in 1967, and they were married for 39 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Frank Wallace Savage; and a sister, Pearlena Bronner. Mr. Burke was born Jan. 27, 1938, in Canadian to Alvis Thomas and Frances Burke. He married Willene Barker on April 19, 1980, in Pampa. Mr. Burke worked as a gas measurement tech for Cabot Corp. After retiring from Cabot, he and his wife moved from Pampa to Mobeetie where he farmed. Mr. Burke served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Mobeetie. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and a sister. Mr. Powell was born Aug. 23, 1917, in Guymon, Okla., and was raised there. He married Mabel Louise Cagle on Oct. 5, 1940, in Guymon. During World War II, they lived in San Diego and built airplanes for the war effort. After the war, they lived in Guymon until 1959, when they moved to Perryton. Vance retired as manager of B&B Sales, where his customers were his friends. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Perryton. Vance was a wonderful father and grandfather. He will be remembered as a kind man who was always willing to help. He was preceded n death by his wife in 2005. Mrs. Sparks was born Feb. 14, 1920, in Emporia, Kan. She married Marvin Sparks on Aug. 7, 1959, in Amarillo. She was a member of First Christian Church and was the organist for 40 years. She was also a past board member of the church. She was past president of the Dianthus Club, a member of the Red Hat Club and was a Girl Scout leader for many years. She loved gardening and was a great cook and most loving grandmother. Mrs. Reynolds was born Oct. 4, 1933, in Wilson, Okla., and had lived in Sunray since 1972. Margie married Keith on Oct. 13, 1951, in Clayton, N.M., and traveled throughout the U.S. with Keith's naval career, but came back to her home, family and friends upon their retirement in 1972. She worked for Sunray Independent School District and owned and operated Margie's Rags to Rugs. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW, liked to can vegetables and fruits, liked ceramics and casinos and enjoyed her grandkids and her granddog, Lulu. She was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She leaves us a legacy of family and friendship that will last forever for all who knew her. She was preceded death by her husband, Keith, on June 9, 2000; her parents, Esley and Ola Mae Tate; and a sister, Shirley Reed. Dr. Cline was born July 7, 1920, in Haxtun, Colo. He was raised in Amarillo, and practiced medicine in Houston He graduated from Texas A&M University with a veterinary medicine degree in 1943, and from Baylor University College of Medicine in Houston in 1947. He finished his internship and residency in Houston, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Dr. Cline retired from full-time medical practice in 1990, and volunteered for 10 years at the Taos Indian Health Center in Taos, N.M. He had lived in New Braunfels since February 2001. Dr. Cline was a member of First Baptist Church of New Braunfels. Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Cline of New Braunfels; three children, Leslie D. Amarillo Globe-News, July 6, 2006 ======================================================================== J. Lee Phillips GREENVILLE - J. Lee Phillips, 67, died Monday, July 3, 2006, in Dallas. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Peters Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Deteau officiating. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Quail Cemetery in Quail. Arrangements are by Peters Funeral Home. Lee Phillips was born May 22, 1939, to William Bryan and Virginia Irene Phillips in Ruidoso, N.M. Lee volunteered to serve his country in 1958, joining the U.S. Army where he became a member of the 101st Airborne Division before going to Korea. After his tour in Korea he finished his service at Fort Polk, La. Lee married Nancy Stephens of Quail on June 13, 1960, in Clarendon. They have two sons, Toby and Terry. In 1964, Lee entered law enforcement in Spearman as a dispatcher/patrolman. In 1966 was hired by J. B. Cooke to be a deputy sheriff for Hansford County where he served until 1974. Also during his time as deputy sheriff he was the fire chief for the Spearman Volunteer Fire Department. Lee was appointed to the position of chief of police in 1974 and served in that post until 1976. In 1976, Lee began his 10-year career at Baker and Taylor Drilling Co. in Spearman, where he worked as a truck driver and personnel and safety director. In 1986, he moved to Greenville to work as a security guard for E Systems where he remained until he became disabled in 1995. Lee enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Northeast Texas Paratroopers Association in Quitman, and a former member of the Spearman Texas Lions Club. Lee was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Cleo Phillips; sisters, Betty June Baker and Nelda Laton; and a cousin, Donnie Phillips.
