"Bobbye" Rast, 87, of Amarillo died Wednesday, July 5, 2006. Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in Memory Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Georgia St. Mrs. Rast was born July 26, 1918, in Pueblo, Colo. She graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City, and also attended business college. She was a professional dancer in her early life and started a dancing school in Guthrie, Okla. She was a staff sergeant with the Army Air Corps (WACS) during World War II. She organized many GI shows during the war. She was involved and enjoyed the Amarillo Little Theatre for many years. She later attended beauty school and was a successful beautician for many years. She was a member of Women Veterans of America Magna Bell Chapter of Amarillo. She married Earle Rast in 1980 and he preceded her in death in 2001. She was also preceded death by her parents; and two brothers. Survivors include her caregiver and special friend, Jean C. Low of Amarillo. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Valdez was a lifetime Amarillo resident. She married Johnny Valdez in 1950 in Clovis, N.M. She worked as a cosmetologist at Sears for 30 years, retiring in the mid-90s. Mrs. Valdez was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. The last years of her life she spent caring for her great-grandson, Jackson "Jack" Valdez, who was her pride and joy. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Mendoza and Macedonia Velasquez; and a brother, Paul Arredondo. Georgia St. Dottie was born in Texas and made her home in Amarillo for more than 50 years. She married Charles "Bud" Ross in Logan, N.M. He preceded her in death in 2001. She was the owner of Dottie's Homade Cakes located in Central Grocery Store for eight years. Prior to her illness, she joined the Wal-Mart family where she served as a greeter for more than 11 years and quickly became known as "Miss Dottie." Survivors include three daughters, Kathi Bird and husband Bobby and Barbara McWilliams, all of Amarillo, and Debra Stoneking Purtle and husband Jeffery of Pratt, Kan.; a stepson, Larry Ross and wife Ruth of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Burial will be at 9:45 a.m. Saturday in Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Polk Street United Methodist Church with Dr. Howard Batson, pastor of First Baptist Church, and the Rev. Cletus Beights, associate minister of Polk Street United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. He was born Nov. 21, 1946, in Topeka, Kan. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1965. He attended Texas A&M University where he earned his B.S. in 1969. He earned his doctor of veterinary medicine from Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine in 1971. He was a member of the Texas A&M marching band and the Singing Cadets. He established the Acoma Pine Animal and Bird Clinic in Amarillo in 1973, where he practiced until his death. He was a member of the Amarillo Veterinary Medical Association and the Texas Academy of Veterinary Medicine. He was vice president/president-elect of Amarillo Rotary West and had perfect attendance for 31 years. He was a Paul Harris Fellow. He completed training in the Leadership Amarillo program. DECA and Amarillo ISD recognized him for contributing guidance, inspiration and support to their student programs. He was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church and the Maverick Sunday school class. He enjoyed with avid pleasure participating in outdoor activities with his family, flying his Bonanza plane, bicycle riding, and most recently, motorcycle riding. He was an original flag bearer on the horse that rode across the Canyon rim at the beginning of the "Texas" show performances. He was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Gerald in 1987. Viola Templin McLemore was born April 14, 1916, in Ellis County to Samuel and Willie Mae Templin. She came to Wheeler County at the age of 12 with her parents. Viola Templin married Carlos McLemore on Dec. 24, 1934, in Shamrock. She was a great mother and a wonderful grandmother. She will be missed very much. She had been a Dumas resident for 19 years and was a former Sunray resident. Janie married Frank Vasquez in 1955 in San Saba. She was a homemaker for 26 years in Sunray. She was a member of the Catholic Women's Council for many years and also served on the Diocese of Amarillo Deanery. Janie was always involved in her church and taught youth religious education classes for many years. After the death of her husband, she became a teacher's aide for a special friend, Helen Archibeque, working with the Head Start program for 11 years. Janie later married Samuel Medina in February 2001. Janie spent her time helping the elderly, teaching youth, cooking, and most important to her, was spending time with her family. The most common memory we all will have of Janie was her love for dancing and music. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Vasquez; a son, Ricky Vazquez; a grandson, Blake Tanner Vasquez; and a brother, Eliodoro Flores. Estel Ralph Gibson received the ultimate healing on July 5, 2006, at the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home after his battle with Alzheimer's. Ralph was born to Richard Anderson and John Bell Gibson on April 27, 1936, in Spur, where he lived until he graduated from high school. Ralph attended Hardin-Simmons University and Baylor University, where he met and married Judy Mozelle Johnson. While at Baylor, and for the rest of his working life, he served God as a music minister at various churches including First Baptist Bellmead, Calvary Baptist in Waco, First Southern Baptist in Colorado Springs, Colo., First Baptist Houston, Paramount Baptist in Amarillo, First Baptist Woodway, First Baptist Woodville and retired from First Baptist Granbury. After Baylor, Ralph attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and then served his country in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1968. Ralph was a member of the Singing Men of Texas as well as the CenturyMen. He was a godly man, a loving husband and father, a mentor and a friend. A special thank you goes out to the many faithful servants at the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home, unit E. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Richard A. "Dick" Gibson. Mr. Miller worked as a shorthand court reporter for the 1st Judicial District of Oklahoma from 1951 until his retirement in 1987. He loved traveling with his family, camping and flying. Amarillo Globe-News, July 7, 2006 ======================================================================== Victor Lehr TEXHOMA, Okla. - Victor Lehr, 85, formerly of Windsor, Colo., died Sunday, July 2, 2006, in Amarillo, Texas. A private service will be in Windsor at the Windsor Lakeview Cemetery with Masonic funeral rites by Occidental Lodge No. 20 FM&AM and military honors by VFW Post 2121. Arrangements are by Adamson Memorial Chapels of Greeley, Colo. Victor Lehr was born Feb. 6, 1921, in Cody, Wyo., to Henry and Mary Thomas Lehr. From 1941 to 1945, Mr. Lehr served in the U.S. Army, traveling to the South Pacific and Philippine Islands. For his service he received a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star medal, a Good Conduct Medal with one Bronze Star, an American Defense Service Medal, a Philippine Liberation Ribbon and an Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal. In November 1959, Mr. Lehr married June H. Thomas. Mr. Lehr was a longtime farmer and rancher in Longmont, Colo., and moved to Texhoma in 1999, to be near his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a Teamsters Local 17 retiree, an avid fisherman, a loyal Denver Broncos fan and a polka music enthusiast. He will be missed and loved by all. Mr. Lehr died Sunday at Baptist St. Anthony Health Care Center in Amarillo. Survivors include a sister, Alvina Lehr of California; three sons, Victor Lynn Lehr of Twentynine Palms, Calif., and Randy Lehr and Wayne Lehr, both of Texhoma; a daughter, Sharon Baldwin of Bakersfield, Calif.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Treadwell was born Nov. 10, 1923, in Garden Valley to T. A. and Eunice Treadwell. LaJuana lived most of her life near Briscoe, Texas. She was married to Jeff Puryear in Sayre on Feb. 24, 1940. In 1987, she moved to Pampa, Texas, and was very active in First Baptist Church. LaJuana moved to Erick in 2000 to be closer to her family. She loved to travel and went on many tours. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pampa, and was actively involved in whatever church she attended.
