Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Jay McGaughy, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens with flag detail by American Legion Post 224 of Dumas. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Ramey was born April 8, 1936, in Oklahoma City. He was a Dumas resident since 1975. He married Kaye Hubbard on Feb. 4, 1966, in Amarillo. He was a maintenance supervisor for the State Highway Department from 1960 to 1995. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1959. Survivors include his wife, Kaye; a son, Randy Ramey and wife Gwenda of Dumas; a daughter, Staci Kidd and husband Harvey of Vega; two sisters, Mauretta Callahan of Big Spring and Janice Lee of Hereford; and a granddaughter, Jayda Cae Ramey. Mrs. Thompson was born Dec. 17, 1900, in Collingsworth County. She was a teacher and taught at Groves, Stinnett and Spearman. She was a member of Stinnett Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Orin Thompson, on Dec. 29, 1968; a son, Orin Thompson, in 1974; and a brother, Paul Groves, in 2006. Amarillo Globe-News, July 17, 2006 ======================================================================== Jack H. Weldon GRUVER - Jack H. Weldon, 78, died Sunday, July 16, 2006. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Curry, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Gruver Cemetery by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon, Okla. Mr. Weldon was born Aug. 18, 1927, in Stamford. He had a twin brother, Gene, who died in 1980. Mr. Weldon graduated from Plainview High School in 1946 and joined the Marine Corps in July of that year. His tour of duty lasted until 1948, and after his discharge, he accepted a scholarship to play football at the University of New Mexico. Along with playing football at UNM, he was an active member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. He married Mary Gillespie in Clayton, N.M., in 1950, and they resided in Clayton until 1955, when he returned to school at West Texas State University to complete his work on a bachelor's degree. Following graduation, he taught and coached eight years in Raton, N.M., and in 1964, accepted a position as junior high principal in Clayton. He was in Clayton six years, serving also as high school principal two years and superintendent two years before accepting the position of superintendent of Gruver Schools in 1970. He retired from that position in December 1986. Following his retirement, Mr. Weldon began what would become 20 years of dedicated service to his church, his family and his passion for woodworking. In 1998, he was ordained a deacon in First Baptist Church. He also participated in several missionary activities, including a trip to Niger, West Africa, in 1997. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jacque Kimble and husband Ken of Borger; two sons, Mike and wife Kristy of Lubbock and Tim and wife Blynn of Stratford; 10 beloved grandchildren, Justin Kimble and wife Erica, Haley Kimble, Aaron Weldon and wife Lindsay, Grant Weldon, Tyler Weldon, Taos Weldon, Colby Weldon, Lindy Weldon, Carley duMenil and husband Jeff and Bailey Bryson; and a great-grandchild, Noah duMenil. Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
