Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Kevin Deckard officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Burge was born in Dundee, Okla., and had worked as a building engineer with St. Anthony's Hospital. He was a Boy Scout leader and handled TV repairs for years. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Jennifer Denise Burge and Denise Leon Burge. Survivors include two sons, Donnie Leon Burge of south Texas and Kristopher Leon Burge of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Cindy Medeiros-Mixon of Amarillo; an aunt, Lou Brown of Kansas; a niece, Joyce Brown and husband Virgil of Kansas; three grandchildren; a friend, Thurman Urquhart; and his dog, Taco. "Big Mama" Cummings, 94, of Amarillo died Saturday, July 22, 2006. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Grace Church. Private burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Cummings was born in Palmer. She married Allen Cummings in 1942. He died in 1952. She then married Willie Edmond. He preceded her in death in the late 1980s. Mrs. Cummings worked as a caregiver. She was a member of Grace Church. She was also preceded in death by six children. Survivors include three daughters, Gloria Cummings of Austin and Theo Edmond and Cleo Marsh, both of Amarillo; a son, Billy Gene Cummings of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Margie Carter of Dallas; a brother, David L. Carter of Dallas; an uncle, A.J. Scott; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Bates, 47, of Amarillo died Saturday, July 22, 2006. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Bates was born June 20, 1959, and raised in Amarillo. He went into the U.S. Army in 1976 and was stationed in Germany until 1979. He married Teresa Fore on June 12, 1981. Mr. Bates attended TSTI for four years. He was diagnosed in 2004 with colon cancer. Mr. Bates was a deacon for the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He was a loving husband, father and Pe-Paw and will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Bates, and a brother, Ernest Bates. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Shauna Hester and husband Michael and Amber Bates, all of Amarillo, and Kari Bates of Canyon; his mother, Vivian Bates of Canyon; two sisters, Sherrie Evans and husband Ben of Canyon and Deborah Chadwick of Amarillo; his stepmother, Jeanelle Bates of Amarillo; a granddaughter, Thara Dooley; three nieces; and nine nephews. He worked at Steere Tank Lines for 30 years as a terminal manager, PGC Feeds for 12 years and then for the Canadian River Authority. He will be loved and missed by his many family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a sister, Lucille Frisbie; and a brother, Kenneth Turner. COLUMBIA, MO. - Dr. Bruce Everett Weaver, D.O., 71, died Saturday, July 8, 2006. Memorial services were in Memorial Baptist Church in Columbia. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo, Texas. Arrangements are by Memorial Funeral Home of Columbia. Dr. Weaver was born March 5, 1935, to Mayvi and J.C. Weaver in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1953. He attended Texas Tech and graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Bruce served his country as a corpsman in the U.S. Army. Bruce married Barbara Gillespie of Amarillo in June 1961. Following their marriage, they moved to Kansas City, where Bruce graduated from the Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1969. Bruce completed his internship at Lakeside Hospital in Kansas City and his residency in anesthesia at the Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine Hospital. Dr. Weaver began practicing anesthesia at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City. Dr. Weaver relocated to Columbia in 1978, where he was part of the team that began the cardiovascular program at Boone Hospital Center. Bruce was president of Columbia Anesthesia Associates from 1980 to 1991. Bruce practiced anesthesiology at Boone until his retirement in 1996. Dr. Weaver was a member of the Board of Governors with the American Osteopathic College of Anesthesiology and served as president in 1984. Bruce also served as president of the Missouri Anesthesia Society. Dr. Weaver was a member of the local and state chapters of the American Heart Association. Bruce was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school director and on numerous committees. He enjoyed bowling, softball, scuba diving, sailing, woodworking and Southwestern Indian art. Bruce was a founding member of the Ragtime Contingency of Columbia and fostered his interest in ragtime through his involvement in the Scott Joplin Foundation in Sedalia. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Mary Yvonne Boergadine. Survivors include his wife; three children, James Weaver of Columbia, Carey Davis of Amarillo and Brooke Manino of Stirling, N.J.; five grandchildren, Don Weaver, Tiffany Weaver, Colby Snyder, Elizabeth Popp and Cristine Manino; two great-grandchildren, Allison Weaver and Taylor Popp; and the families of his six nieces and nephews in New Mexico.
