Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St., with the Rev. Scott Richards, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Chillders was born in Thalia, was reared in Vernon and graduated from Vernon High School. Prior to moving to Amarillo in 1940, he had lived in Memphis and Clarendon where he worked for V.L. Taylor and Sons. In Amarillo, he worked for the C.M. Williams Co., Acme Plumbing Co., owned and operated Chillders Plumbing & Heating from 1946 to 1957 and worked in maintenance for Pioneer Natural Gas Co. from 1957 to 1969. He was also a master locksmith. He was a member of Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 196 and the Palisades Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Wynelle Henry Chillders; a sister, Margie Lucille Cunningham; and a grandson, Benjamin Shannon Cochran. Survivors include a son, Luel Virgal Chillders II of San Antonio; three daughters, Peggy Jeanne Jansen and Mary Ellen McDonald, both of Amarillo, and Patricia Ann Haddock of Van Alstyne; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, July 25, 2006 ======================================================================== Robey H. Clark Robey Harned Clark, 84, of Amarillo died Sunday, July 23, 2006. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Westminster Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Bolton Cemetery in Bolton Miss. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Robey was born Oct. 2, 1921, at Hope Plantation, Mound, La., to Margaret Harned and Alexander Clark. Robey attended elementary school in Mound, and graduated from Tallulah High School in Tallulah, La., in 1938. He graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in geology in 1943. He enlisted in the Navy during World War II and served as an ensign and lieutenant in the Pacific aboard several Navy LSTs. After the war, Robey worked for Magnolia Oil Co. in Oklahoma City and then took a leave of absence to obtain an MS degree in geology at the University of Wisconsin before returning to work for Magnolia Oil, which later became part of the Mobil Oil Co. While attending the University of Wisconsin, he met his bride of 57 years, Joanne Justus of Beloit, Wis. They were married in 1948 and started their life together in Lake Charles, La., with transfers to New Orleans, Denver and Houston. In 1971, Robey joined Diamond Shamrock Corp. as its VP of exploration and production in Amarillo. He retired from Diamond Shamrock in 1982 while continuing his work as a consulting geologist in Amarillo. RobeyÕs exploration expertise covered the Gulf Coast States, the Gulf of Mexico, the Mid Continent, the Rocky Mountain Region, Alaska, the North Sea, Australia and New Zealand. Robey also believed that it was the duty of every geologist to support the science and the practice of geology through its scientific and professional organizations. He was an active member of the AAPG and served terms as its secretary in 1976 and as its president in 1980. He was also very active with his alma mater, Louisiana State University in the College of Basic Sciences and was inducted into its Hall of Distinction in April 2003 and also served on its advisory board for many years. A lifelong Presbyterian, he made his church home at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Amarillo. He was preceded in death by his father; his mother; and a sister, Margaret. Survivors include his sweetheart and wife of 57 years, Joanne Justus Clark of Amarillo; four sons and daughters-in-law, Robey A. Clark of Dallas, David J. Clark and Margie of Charlotte, N.C., William C. Clark and Susan of Bandera and Daniel H. Clark and Amy of Moreno Valley, Calif.; a brother, Thomas A. Ms. Futrell was born Dec. 6, 1936, in Creta, Okla., to Curtis and Minnie Pruitt. She owned and operated Ms. RitaÕs Best Little Barber Shop for more than 15 years. She developed many friendships and was loved by her customers. She had a generous heart and opened her home for many people. She was an avid lover of music and played the guitar. Mr. Love was born May 31, 1918, in Greenbrier, Ark., to James William and Sammie Altha Love, and graduated from Conway High School in Conway, Ark. He graduated from Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway with a BA degree and received his Master of Education at George Peabody College for teachers at Nashville, Tenn. He married Mary Elizabeth Batson on Dec. 27, 1937, in Plumerville, Ark. She died Oct. 14, 1991. He moved to Amarillo from El Dorado, Ark., in 1955. He was principal at Will Rogers and Avondale elementary schools until he retired May 31, 1979. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and served as a Radarman 2/C on the USS Coghlan, a destroyer escort. He was an elementary school principal for nine years, and coached basketball and track four years in Arkansas prior to moving to Amarillo. He was a member of several professional organizations and a member of First Baptist Church of Amarillo. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of White Deer and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a devoted farmer. He held a special place in the hearts of his nieces and nephews and will never be forgotten. He was well-respected by his family and friends and was well-known for his honesty and integrity. Private memorial services will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Mrs. Emmerson was born Nov. 20, 1927, in rural Baca County, Colo., to James and Edith Downs Acre. She was one of seven children. She graduated from Springfield High School in Springfield, Colo. Taffy married James "Jim" Emmerson Jr. in 1945 in Dodge City, moving to Amarillo, Texas, soon after. While living in Amarillo, she was active in numerous organizations, including Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority and the altar guilds of St. Andrews and St. Peters Episcopal Churches. She was employed as office manager for Dr. L.A. Blumer for 25 years. While working for Dr. Blumer, she wrote the handbook for Insurance for Podiatry for the state of Texas. Taffy and Jim moved to Topeka in 1977, where she was employed by Dr. Charles Hepford for 25 years before retiring. While in Topeka, she was president of the auxiliary and a volunteer at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center. She also served on the boards of Meals on Wheels, the Arthritis Foundation of NE Kansas, Topeka Symphony League and the altar guild at St. David's Episcopal Church. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Cathedral and the 21 Book Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, in 1994; and a son, Jae, in 1997. Survivors include a sister, Winona Chick of Campo, Colo.; a daughter, Allana Bell and husband Don of Topeka; two grandchildren, Kimberly Jones and Donald Bell Jr., both of Topeka; and a great-granddaughter, Makenzie Bell of Topeka. She was a very active and dedicated member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sturgis, where she was always ready to volunteer and serve her church. Some of her activities in the church included acting as a lector and server at Masses, and she was the original coordinator of the church's Religious Goods Store. She was also very proud to be a member of the Third Order of Secular Franciscans. She was preceded in death by her father, Guy Clark; her mother, Doris Blood; and a sister, Judy Hyde.
