Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Kingswood United Methodist Church with the Rev. G.A. Roach, chaplain of Northwest Texas Hospital, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Elwell was born Sept. 23, 1945, in Amarillo. She graduated from Tascosa High School in 1963 and married Donald J. "Rusty" Elwell on Feb. 25, 1967, in Amarillo. After a career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., Mrs. Elwell pursued her passion as crew chief for Matrix Enterprises Hot Air Balloon Co. Mr. and Mrs. Elwell have flown the Amarillo National Bank balloon for 20 years. Mrs. Elwell was preceded in death by her parents, David A. and Clair Sheets. Survivors include her husband, Rusty; a sister, Joslyn Harney of Texarkana, Ark.; two nephews, David Harney of Highland Village and Seth Harney of Amarillo; and a great-nephew. Mr. Bastardo was born Dec. 23, 1915, in Villa Acuna, Mexico, to Francisco and Geronima Soto Bastardo. He married Petra Valdez on Sept. 22, 1936, in Corpus Christi. He was a writer and newspaper reporter for the Johnson City Press and most recently a computer information specialist for the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Benny was a graduate of East Tennessee State University having received a master's degree.
