Services will be at 3 p.m. CST Sunday in the Texline school auditorium with the Rev. Bill Wade, pastor of Buchanan Street United Methodist Church in Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in Texline Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, N.M. Jim was born March 25, 1939, in Amarillo to Harry Poole and Mildred Hougen Poole. When Jim was in the third grade, the family moved to Texline, a town he always loved and was often heard to say, "If I didn't live in Texline, I would move there." His greatest pleasures in life were family, friends, farming, ranching and Poole Chemical Co. His very special family of employees at Poole Chemical allowed his work to be a pleasure. Jim's father, Harry, started the fertilizer business from his drug store, and in 1962 Jim started working with him. In 1975 Jim purchased the business and built the first plant in Texline. There are now eight plants in five states, which serve the Central United States. Jim felt very fortunate that he loved his avocation, which allowed him to grow a variety of crops from the San Louis Valley of Colorado to the Plains of South Texas. This balance of work, fertilizer and cultivation was a cycle of fulfillment and joy for him. Knowing Jim and sharing his life was one of God's special blessings. Our loss is truly Heaven's gain. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; and an infant sister, Lynda. Survivors include his wife, Karen; a son, Danny Poole and wife Angela of Texline; a daughter, Jayme Poole Rittenberry and husband Charlie of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Megan, Hannah, Hougen, Grace, Danni and Cash; two sisters, Carole Triplett and husband Lloyd of Claude and Beverly Taylor and husband Lyn of Torrington, Wyo.; and an aunt, Eloise Beatty of Clayton. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in McGee Memorial Chapel. Jack Mobley - aviator, iconoclast, contrarian, good neighbor - died early Monday morning after a brief illness. His daughter, Tracy Mobley-Martinez, was at his side when he passed into the infinite. Mobley, 68, was born in Amarillo, Texas, the second son of Bill and Maurece Mobley. He graduated from Amarillo High School in the class of '56 and went on four years later to obtain his bachelor's from the University of Colorado. He married and divorced, having only one child. He retired in the mid-'80s, and lived a solitary life of few luxuries. If you asked him, he'd likely have told you he had few friends, but he quietly touched many lives, especially in his southwest Santa Fe neighborhood. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 12, 2006 ======================================================================== Elsewhere Jim "J.B." Butler AUSTIN - Jim "J.B." Butler, 54, formerly of Amarillo died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006. Memorial services will be at 5 p.m. today in University Catholic Center. Arrangements are by Cook-Walden Funeral Home. Jim "J.B." Butler of Austin, formerly of Amarillo, died peacefully in his sleep on Aug. 5. He was 54 years old. Jim's death was unexpected and came at a time when the future looked brighter than it had in a long time. After years marked by struggles with alcohol, Jim had begun healing his wounds and accepting that his life could be whatever he wanted it to be. Although the timing of his death may make it seem more tragic, we are eternally grateful that his life was punctuated by a year of optimism - a time when he earned back some of his selfconfidence and had begun to feel proud of himself. For his family, that time was a valuable opportunity to strengthen our relationships with Jim and to connect with him in a way that was as healing for us as it was for him. Jim, we're proud of your courage and resolve and know Mom and Daddy are too. One of Jim's rekindled dreams was to work again as an advocate for children's rights. Survivors include a brother, Tommy Butler of Austin; two sisters Paddy Wainwright of Austin and Beth Butler of Canton, Ohio; two nieces Amy Albin and Katy Wainwright, both of Austin; and a nephew, David Wainwright of Austin. He will also be missed by his aunts, Betty and Mimi, his cousins and his many friends. To honor Jim's passion for children's advocacy, the family suggests memorials be to the Baptist Children's Home, 909 N.E. Loop 410, Suite 800, San Antonio, TX 78209. At 6:30 p.m., following the service, all are welcome to join us at 1015 E. 43rd in Austin for a celebration of Jim's life.
