Celebration of life services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Lifeway Fellowship Baptist Church with Dr. Stan Coffey and the Rev. Randy Davis officiating. Private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Baker was born May 17, 1928, in Stephenville to Marshal and Ida Baker, and married Rita Hedrick on Sept. 27, 1947, in Amarillo. He was a charter member of Lifeway Fellowship Baptist Church (formerly Olsen Park Baptist Church) and had lived in Amarillo 62 years. He worked for General Mills 10 years, owned his own business and worked at the Pantex plant for 33 years. He loved golf, tinkering, garage sales and talking to anybody (especially about big trucks and tractors). Survivors include his wife, Rita A. Baker; a daughter, Sherry Thomas and husband Art of Amarillo; a son, Kerry Baker and wife Ruthie of Amarillo; five sisters, Vera Lackey and Daisy Riggins, both of Big Spring, Zola Busby of Fritch, Joann Henry of Bastrop, La., and Maryon Baker of Lubbock; a brother, Bill Baker of Big Spring; five grandchildren, Phillip and wife Denice, Amber, Joshua, Ryan and Adam; and a great-granddaughter, Mia Beth. Osage St. Rosetta Carolina Doran was a founding member of Victory Church, she was called the "grandmother" of the church. She was a member of the Love Team, an usher, was involved with home ministries and held the singles group meetings in her home. She remained very active with her church. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren and her church family. She was a dedicated nurse and a loving and caring person. Mrs. Butler worked at Southwestern Public Service of Amarillo for 25 years before retiring. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed. She graduated from Perryton High School and earned her B.B.A. from California Coast University and her M.B.A. from Tulane. She taught computer science at Amarillo College. Debbie was very active in Daughters of the Nile, Khiva Oriental Band, Khiva Mobile Nobles and Amarillo Cat Fanciers Association. She married Ronald Frymoyer on Nov. 28, 1992, in Amarillo. "Bill" "Coach" Scott was born Dec. 28, 1943, in Amarillo. He was a retired senior buyer for Mason & Hanger Pantex and a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, where he served in the Sunday school and was a one-time member of the Gospel Choir. He was also a longtime teacher of the young people's group for the Caprock District Sunday School and BTU Congress. He served as a volunteer roundup man and coach for Kids, Inc. for more than 30 years, coaching basketball, track, softball and football. His teams held the "City Champs" title season after season in football. He was a coach for Amarillo Little Dribblers basketball team, AAU track and AAU basketball. William served on the first steering committee for the 79107 YES program for youth. He struggled with a longtime handicap, being confined to a wheelchair, but was able to volunteer his time and energy as a coach to help kids get involved in sports so they would have something to do and stay off the streets getting into trouble. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Helen Scott; his father, Calvin Scott; and a brother, Claude "Sandy" Scott. Survivors include his devoted wife, Betty Scott; four sons, Kenneth Walker and wife Renee of Albuquerque, N.M., and William Scott Jr., Byron Scott and Adrian Scott, all of Amarillo; a daughter, Devah Taylor of Midland; two brothers, Ralph Scott and wife Elaine of Jacksonville, Fla., and Thomas Jones of Amarillo; three sisters, Rita Rector and husband Fred and Stacy Jones, all of Amarillo, and Jacqueline Scott of Austin; 12 grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; two godsons, Gene Polley and Chris Chandler, both of Amarillo; many nieces, nephews, aunties and uncles; and a host of relatives and friends. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mack Henry Scott Edwards Mack Henry Scott Edwards, 88, of Amarillo died Monday, Aug. 14, 2006. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Mark Zimmerman of Paramount Terrace Christian Church officiating. Private burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mack Henry Scott Edwards was born Feb. 2, 1918, in Highfill, Ark., to Lee and Myrna Edwards. Mr. Edwards moved to Amarillo in 1928 and attended Amarillo public schools. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps on Sept. 29, 1941, and was discharged as an enlisted man in December of 1942. He was then accepted as an aviation cadet with the Army Air Corps and was stationed for advanced training in Houston. He graduated from flight school in July 1943 and was commissioned as a second lieutenant. During his military career he spent 17 months in Burma, Assam, made 33 trips over the "Hump" and as a pilot, he also towed gliders and dropped paratroopers. Mr. Edwards received three medals and two Distinguished Flying Cross medals, which at the time was the highest honor from the U.S. Air Force. He married Juanita Roberts on Oct. 24, 1943, in Canyon. She preceded him in death on April 4, 1962. Mr. Edwards accepted the honorable discharge from military service in July 1945. He was an avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman. He was named Amarillo City Municipal Golf Champion for 1947 and 1948. He turned professional in 1949 and gained membership into the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) in 1954. The PGA also certified Mr. Edwards as a Class A teaching professional. He was the head professional at golf courses in Los Alamos, N.M., and Odessa before becoming head professional at Amarillo Country Club form 1954 to 1960. Mr. Edwards moved to Boulder, Colo., in 1960 and owned and operated golf courses in both Colorado and Arizona until his retirement in 1986. Mr. Edwards was a member of the Amarillo VFW, the "Hump" Pilots Association of America and the Amarillo Senior Citizens. He was lifetime member of the PGA and a 59-year member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a son, Scott M. Edwards Jr. of Amarillo; a daughter, Sue Soltis of San Antonio; a granddaughter, Kim McCune Jackson and husband Dean of Bastrop; a grandson, David McCune of Denver; a sister, Janie Edwards Wren of Denver; three nephews, John, Randy and Jay Wren of Denver; and three great- grandchildren, Jennifer, Maddie and Dawson. Snodgrass Erma L. Snodgrass, 91, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006. Interstate 40. Erma L. Snodgrass was born Nov. 26, 1914, on a sheep homestead ranch in Fairview, Mont., to Francis E. and Sarah Ann Livley. After the death of her father in the influenza epidemic of 1917, the family moved home to Woodward, Okla., where she grew up and finished high school. She married William A. Snodgrass in 1933 El Reno, Okla. They were married for 61 years. They lived in many towns in Oklahoma calling Checotah, Okla., their home. After living in Glendora, Calif., for a few years, they moved to Amarillo where she has lived for 46 years. She was a longtime member of Sweet Adelines, and was named Sweet Adeline of the Year. She was also a member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church, where she sang in the choir, was a member of the Lamplighters Sunday school class and volunteered in the Women's Prison Ministry. She worked as the attendance clerk at Palo Duro High School until she retired to care for her aging mother. After the death of her husband, she enjoyed her church and traveling with her dear friends, Joan Thompson and Elda Redd. They were referred to as "The Golden Girls." Survivors include a daughter, Ermyne Emerson and husband David of Amarillo; grandchildren, Joe and Lynn Emerson, Sally and Ben Byrd, all of Amarillo, and Terry and Diane Emerson of Corpus Christi; great-grandchildren, Kari and Andy Eudy, Kirbi and Kristin Emerson, JoLynn and Zach Connell and J.D. Shirlee Ray Gilmore was born Sept. 8, 1948, in Grandview to Robert Harold and Inez Powell McDuff. She married Harvey Ross Gilmore on Jan. 20, 1996, in Amarillo. She was a pharmacy technician at Northwest Texas Hospital for 20 years. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting in her spare time. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Sallie Proffitt in 1981, and Donna Barber in 2001. Stu Crutchfield was born Sept. 10, 1941, in Seattle to B.I. and Flora Crutchfield. He grew up in the Texas Panhandle and earned his master's degree from North Texas State University. He was proud of his two-year tour in Vietnam in the U.S. Army. This U.S. patriot raced at many of the dirt tracks as well as sports car racing in the Southwest. He probably went to the Indy 500 40 times in his life. He was a longtime (20 years) teacher at Kimball High School in the industrial arts department. He retired from DISD to Alba, where he continued his love of travel, photography and target shooting. He was preceded in death by his parents, and has left many friends to mourn his loss. He married Lola Dacus on Oct, 3, 1980. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea. Charles F. Pratt FRITCH - The Rev. Charles F. Pratt, 70, died Wednesday, July 26, 2006, in Buffalo, N.Y. Burial was in Lancaster, N.Y. Mr. Pratt was born Sept. 14, 1935, in New York City to Charles and Mildred Pratt. He married Bea Seamster on Nov. 19, 1979, in Seneca, S.C., and moved to Amarillo in 1980. He was licensed to preach by the Rev. David Walker at San Jacinto Baptist Church in 1981 and ordained by the Rev. Robert Parker at Village Park Baptist Church in 1985, serving there as associate pastor. He and his wife, Bea, founded Here's Hope Prison Ministry in 1981. He traveled and preached in prisons and churches all across the United States, Great Britain and Mexico until 2005, when his health prevented him from traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Lesa Burky. Survivors include his wife, Bea of Fritch; two daughters, Dena Farmer of Borger and Teri McKinnis of Pittsburg, Kan.; two sons, Les Seamster of Branson, Mo., and Bill Seamster of Fritch; a sister, Millie Balint of Toms River N.J.; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Billie J. "Bill" Stephens FRIONA - Billie J. "Bill" Stephens, 85, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Burton, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Friona Cemetery by Blackwell Funeral Home. Mr. Stephens was born July 6, 1921, in Cash, in Hunt County, to John M. and Edna Shegog Stephens. He was a Friona resident since 1955, moving from Greenville. He married Naomi Harper on March 4, 1943, in Lubbock. She died Jan. 27, 1995. He was an insurance agent and a painter. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, American Legion and the VFW. Mr. Fletcher was born July 3, 1930, in Burkburnett to Walter Lee and Dovie King Fletcher. He retired from Exxon Pipeline Co. as regional electronics and communications supervisor of the Odessa district in 1992 after a career of 41 years. "Mutt" Foster GARDENA, CALIF. - Willlie H. "Mutt" Foster, 70, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006. Memorial services will be Saturday in Roosevelt Memorial Mortuary Chapel of Faith. Mr. Foster was born June 10, 1936, in Waxahachie, Texas. He moved to Amarillo, Texas, in 1948. He was a 1953 Carver High School graduate and attended Amarillo College and Draughon's Business College. Mr. Foster served four years in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1958, and was employed at the veterans hospital in Amarillo for 14 years. He moved to Los Angeles County in August 1974.
