Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Bobbitt was born Sept. 18, 1956, in Amarillo to Percy Clifford Bobbitt and Martha Ann Bobbitt. He attended Tascosa High School and graduated from Alamo Catholic High School. He also attended the University of Texas. Mr. Bobbitt was a computer program analyst. Survivors include his mother of Amarillo; a brother, Greg Bobbitt and wife Suzi of Amarillo; a sister, Pam Bobbitt of Conifer, Colo.; a son, Milo Sloan Bobbitt of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; and nieces and nephews, Katelyn, Caroline, Samuel, Emilie and Josiah. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Garner was born June 16, 1930, in Pampa to Earl and Freida Wallin and was raised there. She moved to Amarillo in 1962. She married Olin Weldon Garner on June 24, 1981. She was member of South Georgia Baptist Church. Mrs. Garner was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter, Danna Kay Fields in 1983. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Debbie Rizk and Trena Keith, both of Amarillo; a brother, Earl Hampton Wallin Jr. of Elk City, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The family will be at 6341 Sunlake Drive after the service. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Troy Franklin Martin Troy Franklin Martin, 82, of Amarillo, formerly of Canyon, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2006. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church in Canyon with the Rev. Dr. David Lowrie officiating. The family will have a private burial in Dreamland Cemetery before the memorial service. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mr. Martin, former publisher of The Canyon News, died Friday, Aug. 18, in Amarillo. Troy was born Sept. 10, 1923, in Oklahoma to Charlie Pearl Martin and Ida Roberta Hamlin Martin, but his family moved to Texas in a covered wagon by the time he was 1. He married Alice Carr in 1979. He attended elementary and middle school mainly in Turkey. He graduated from Morton High School in 1941 and immediately enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He served in World War II as an air controller in North Africa. After Japan surrendered, he was transferred to duty at the Embassy in Ankara, Turkey. He was discharged as a corporal. He attended Texas Tech University, but soon went to work for the Borger News- Herald as a police beat reporter. From there he was hired as sports editor for the Lawton Morning Press. He got his most valuable training at the Amarillo Globe-News from 1948 to 1952 with legendary journalists Gene Howe, Tommy Thompson, Fred Post, David Rasco and Wes Izzard. In 1952, Martin bought the Olton Enterprise. He knew how to run all the machinery, and he could have put out a paper by himself. He purchased The Canyon News in 1960 and was publisher until he sold the paper and retired in 1984. He was one of the pioneers in offset printing with Southwest Offset, a joint venture with other Panhandle newspapers. His newspapers frequently won regional and state awards for excellence. He was a past president of the Panhandle Press Association and was a board member for the Texas Press Association. He was inducted into the Panhandle Press Association Hall of Fame in 1995. Mr. Martin was a strong advocate for open government, which often put him in an adversarial position with local, state and even with branches of the U.S. government at times in his career. He was very interested in government on all levels and had the opportunity to cover and meet political figures including Preston Smith, President Ronald Reagan, President Lyndon Johnson at his ranch, Gen. Dwight Eisenhower at the dedication of Cannon AFB and Lady Bird Johnson during her beautification campaign. Mr. Martin was a community supporter and worked for the betterment of Canyon, Randall County and West Texas A&M University (WTSU at the time). He was also active in the non-profit organizations that supported the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum and the "Texas" Musical Drama. Mr. Martin established Staked Plains Press in the mid-1970s, and he and Alice continued to run it and the Canyon Directories after they retired from the newspaper business. He fully retired in 1993. He was an avid gardener and shared an abundance of homegrown fruits and vegetables with family and friends. He also loved to play cards, especially gin rummy, and he loved to tell stories. He was passionate about his wife, Alice, and his children. He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister (he was fourth), John, Homer, C.P., Louise and Jim, who also lived in Canyon. Survivors include his wife; three sons, James Martin of Corinth, Rob Standley of Canyon and Tim Martin of The Colony; five daughters, Joan Thomson of Jakarta, Indonesia, Kaysee River of Carrollton, Donna Swinney of San Antonio, Karen Dillehay of Canyon, and Amy Trela of Corinth; 13 grandchildren, one of whom preceded him in death; and a new great-grandchild. She moved to Amarillo in 1956. She worked as a waitress at several restaurants in Amarillo including the Waffle House. She also worked as a nanny for Dr. Mustafa Hussain for many years. Mr. Revious was born April 17, 1929, in Wheeler to John and Delitha Revious. He served with the U.S. Navy prior to moving to Amarillo in 1954, where he worked for Pioneer Natural Gas-Mesa Petroleum for 40 years. He was the data processing supervisor. Mr. Revious was a member of Masonic Lodge, Palo Duro No. 1239, Scottish Rite, Khiva Temple Director's Staff and the Drum Corps. He was also a member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church. He married Katherine Jackson on Oct. 13, 1954, in Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Renee McNeely and husband Virgil of Amarillo; two granddaughters, Allison Darnell and DeAnna Darnell; a grandson, Bradley McNeely; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Ely was born Sept. 27, 1933, in Garber, Okla., to Miles Monroe Ely and Lola B. Robison Ely. He moved with his family to Pampa in October 1943. He began serving the Lord as a young man, becoming a Christian at the age of 13. Mr. Ely graduated from Pampa High School in 1952 and received his teaching degree from West Texas State University in 1957. After serving two years in the U.S. Army, he returned to Pampa in 1959 to teach in the Pampa Independent School District. On July 14, 1963, he married Annette Altman in Pampa. Mr. Ely taught arts and crafts in the Pampa schools for many years, and he enjoyed oil painting and woodworking. He retired from the school district in May 1990. He attended New Life Assembly of God. After retiring, he enjoyed working in his vegetable garden. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Karen Linder and husband Dean of Pampa; a son, Chris Ely of Amarillo; a sister, Norma Hensley and husband Addie of Pampa; two grandchildren, Michelle Linder and Ty Linder, both of Pampa; and many nieces and nephews.
