A small family service was Wednesday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with Jim Fox, chaplain of VistaCare Hospice officiating. Mr. Ruple was born in Fort Dix, N.J. He loved God, attended church, loved his family and was an accomplished musician. Survivors include his wife, Marlene; two sons, Brian Davis of Amarillo and Chad Davis of Silvis, Ill.; three daughters, Christy Adams and Valerie Ruple, both of Odessa, and Heather Ruple of Sewell, N.J.; and six grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- John Arthur Fenner John Arthur Fenner, 54, of Amarillo died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006. Mr. Fenner was born in Pasadena, Calif., and served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam. He was a laborer in the construction industry. Survivors include his wife, Martha Bailey; two daughters, Wonona Taylor and Shirley Stumbaugh and husband David, all of Pocatello, Idaho; four sons, John Arthur Fenner Jr. of Yucaipa, Calif., Wayne Edward Bailey Jr. and Bill Bailey, both of California, and Joe Bailey of Amarillo; a sister, Sally Fick of California; a brother, James Fenner of California; 21 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kathleen Irwen Kathleen Irwen, 69, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006. Georgia St. Mrs. Irwen was born March 4, 1937, in Morse to James Clinton and Myrtle Mae Treadwell. She married Joe Ray Irwen on May 22, 1955, in Clayton, N.M. She had previously lived in Lubbock, Amarillo and Dumas before moving back to Amarillo in 1991. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Paramount Baptist Church and active in her Fellowship Sunday School Class. Mrs. Irwen was a leader in the Moore County 4-H and FFA. She and her husband were charter members of Pairs and Squares Square Dance Club. She was preceded in death by a son, Scott Irwen. Survivors include her husband, Joe Irwen; a daughter, Ski Batemen and husband Keith of Amarillo; a son, Larry Irwen and Dana of Delta, Colo.; three grandchildren, Cooper Owens, Lacci Carroll and Autumn Ratterrerre; three great-grandchildren, Trinity and Triston Carroll and Jaxon Ratterrerre. She was a secretary for many years and worked for Catholic Family Service. She was a very thoughtful person and will be missed by all who knew her. Ken Holmes, associate pastor of Arden Road Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Persall was born in Henryetta, Okla., to Chester Persall and Marion Dena Gooden Persall. He moved to Amarillo at the age of 6 with his family and lived in Amarillo for the remainder of his life with the exception of the time he served his country with the Navy in World War II. Mr. Persall married Donnie Rider in 1947 in Amarillo. Mr. Persall had worked for various manufacturers of wood products, retiring as a production foreman for Maywood after 29 years of service. He loved to hunt and fish, ride dirt bikes and go camping, but more than any of that, he loved to be with his grandchildren. Chester considered there to be no finer music than that of the laughter of his granddaughters and great-grandchildren. He was an active member of Arden Road Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Danny Lynn Persall in 1976; and a brother, Clifford Persall. Debbie was born Aug. 31, 1958, in Johnson City, Ill., was raised there and graduated from Johnson City High School. She moved to the Amarillo area, where she has lived for the past 22 years. She was active in delivering Meals on Wheels for a number of years. Debbie was involved in numerous benevolent activities in the community. Focused primarily on providing a home for her children, Debbie's role as a mother was her treasured gift and privilege. A strong advocate of her children, she diligently sought to instill responsibility and maturity in her boys and displayed to them the importance of being sensitive to others by her kind and genuinely caring manner with people. With a keen wit and engaging sense of humor, Debbie guided them and endeared herself to her friends. As an avid motorcycle enthusiast, Debbie loved to ride and to experience the independence and freedom of the road. This avocation symbolized Debbie's free spirit, her flexible approach to life and her desire to touch the essence of this world intimately. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Tammy was born Oct. 24, 1958, in Wellington and raised in Memphis. She was a 1977 graduate of Memphis High School. She attended Texas Tech University for two years before attending and graduating from Southwestern Oklahoma State University Pharmacy School. She worked as a pharmacist for 25 years. She married Ed Hutcherson on Nov. 6, 1982, in Memphis. They moved to Canyon in 2000. She was employed by Wal-Mart as a pharmacist at the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Lockhart in 1992; and an infant brother, Rodney Lockhart. He moved to Tampa, Fla., and later moved to Boone, continuing his trade of marble and granite installation. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. today in Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. John Ohner, OSA, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in St. Francis Cemetery in Amarillo with the Rev. John Dalton officiating. Arrangements are by McCoy Funeral Home of Muenster. Mrs. Detten was born Sept. 4, 1905, in St. Steffens, Neb., to the late Henry Joseph and Francis Marie Muck Lutkenhaus. The family moved to Muenster in 1907, where she was raised on a farm. She moved to Louisiana at the age of 24 and then back to Gainesville. In 1928, she moved to Amarillo where she met Oscar Detten. They were married in Sacred Heart Church in Muenster on April 8, 1931. They lived and farmed in the St. Francis Community near Amarillo. They were very active in church, youth and community activities. They became the adopted parents of Virginia and Jerry. Odelia, Virginia and Jerry operated a farm south of Muenster in 1938. Oscar had been taken ill at that time. After his recovery, they returned to St. Francis and adopted two other children, Billy and Marilyn. Odelia was active in extension homemaking. She held many offices and entered Tri-State Fair competition and served as 4-H Club leader where she won numerous ribbons in the culinary division at the fair. When Oscar was killed in an automobile accident on Aug. 2, 1950, the family was farming, raising wheat, milo and cattle. She managed the farm and cared for her family until 1964. After selling the farm, they moved back to Muenster where she worked as a cosmetics sales lady until retiring in 1982. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar; a son, Bill Detten; five brothers, Alex, Hugo, Bill, Harold and Herbert Lutkenhaus; two sisters, Marie Lutkenhaus and Emma Felderhoff; and two grandchildren, David Dillard and Elizabeth Detten. Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Dillard of Amarillo and Marilyn Farrar of Fort Worth; a son, Jerry Detten of Garland; a sister, Clara Wilde of Muenster; a brother, Bobby Lutkenhaus of Muenster; 13 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. Mr. McGuire was born Feb. 26, 1918, to William Isaac and Hattie Grover Young McGuire in Red River County, Texas. He married Fay Lennon on March 6, 1943, in Texarkana, Texas. Survivors include his wife; six children, Allen McGuire of Midland, Texas, Mary Lively of Round Rock, Texas, Pat McGuire of Austin, Texas, Martha McGuire of Chicago, Timothy McGuire of Houston and John McGuire of Dallas; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. J. L. Callahan officiating. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mr. Nance was born Sept. 17, 1916, in Mangum, Okla., to William and Helen Field Nance. In 1938, he moved to Clovis and married Robbie L. Jones on April 1. Survivors include six daughters, Bessie "Faye" Gooden of Compton, Calif., Bertha Nance of Albuquerque and Mary E. Nance, Sommung Nance, Marriann Ragsdale and Brenda Depperman, all of Clovis; two sons, William "Winky" and Preston Nance, both of Clovis; a brother, Jimmy L.
