Services will be at 11 a.m. today in First Christian Church with the Rev. Darrell Wait, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. McMurry was born Dec. 13, 1927, in Kelton to Claude and Annie B. Woodring Oglesby. On March 30, 1946, she married J.A. McMurry Jr. in Lovington, N.M. She was a longtime Dumas resident and a former Amarillo resident. She was a longtime Tuesday Bridge Club member and a member of St. Luke's Presbyterian Church in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband; and three sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Roxann Allen and husband James of Dumas. The family suggests memorials be to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Gruver United Methodist Church with the Rev. George Price and the Rev. Gary Gumfory officiating. Burial will be in Gruver Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman. Mr. Chapman was born Aug. 16, 1928, in Portales, N.M. He married Lou McClellan on July 19, 1950, in Gruver. He graduated in 1951 from West Texas State University, where he played football for four years and played on the 1951 Sun Bowl Champion team. He coached at Gruver High School from 1954 to 1967. He was a veteran of the Navy, serving in the Korean conflict. He worked in the insurance business in Houston from 1967 to 1983, and owned Gruver Insurance Agency from 1984 to 2004. He was a member of Gruver United Methodist Church, past president of Gruver ISD board of trustees, serving for seven years, and was a member of Gruver Lions Club and Gruver Lodge No. 1326 AF&AM. Survivors include his wife, Lou Chapman; three daughters, Cindy Sahli and husband Don of Evergreen, Colo., Nancy Chapman of Lubbock and Mindy Hayden and husband Bill of Milton, Fla.; a son, David Chapman and wife Katy of Plano; a brother, Kenneth Chapman of Borger; a sister, Micca Pirtle of Borger; six grandchildren, Michael Chapman and wife Jennifer and Diane Chapman, all of Plano, Joshua Hayden and Cody Hayden, both of Milton, and Jeffrey Sahli and Sam Sahli, both of Evergreen; and three great-grandchildren, Courtney Hayden and Victoria Hayden, both of Milton, and Grant Chapman of Plano. Mr. Powers was born July 14, 1932, in Wanette, Okla., and grew up in Shawnee, Okla. He served in the Army during World War II. After his discharge, he worked for 5 Cement Co., Keebler Cookie Co. and for 16 years with AAA as road service manager. He married Phyllis Robie on March 4, 1977. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Powers; a great-grandson, Kevin Powers of Tulia; three daughters, Rosemary Reynolds of Shawnee, Cheryl Vaughn of Tulia and Janice Griffin of Gruver; three sons, Robert Powers and Michael Robie, both of Amarillo, and Wayne Robie of Roeland Park, Kan.; three brothers, Glenn Powers of Noble, Okla., Jack Powers of Shawnee and Joe Powers of Amarillo; 17 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren. Mrs. Marsh, a native of Amarillo, was born Sept. 5, 1956, in Amarillo to Bell and Connie Story Henry. She attended Amarillo public schools and was a certified nurse's aide. Dirk was born Nov. 10, 1962, in Denver City to Guerry and Ann Wright. He married Kerrie Lee on Aug. 16, 1986, in Follett. He graduated from Follett High School in 1981 and Texas Tech University in 1986. He was a football and track coach in Andrews, Granbury and Saginaw for a total of 20 years. He also taught biology. He was recently employed by ACES, an oil company. Dirk was well-known for his practical jokes and fun nature. Hunting, fishing and anything outdoors were his favorite things to do. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Chad Wright. Survivors include his wife, Kerrie; two children, Bailee and Hagan; his parents of Follett; aunts and uncles, Bob and Joyce Swope, Ludean and Floyd Taylor, Stanley and Juanita Wright and Don Wright and their families; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bob and Janice Lee of Wilson; sisters-in-law, Tracy Brazile and husband Lyndon and children, Magen and McKenzie, Mandi Seaton and husband Rick and son Jay and Shena Parks and husband Michael; extended family; and many friends.
