Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today in Angel Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Hector Gallegos officiating. Funeral mass will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Msgr. Rex Nicholl officiating. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery. Mr. Arredondo lived in the community since 1982. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe church. He was a loving husband and father, and a handyman who loved to work in his shop. He was a utility mechanic for the city of Amarillo. He was preceded in death by his father, Pedro Arredondo. Survivors include his wife, Martha Velazco Arredondo; three daughters, Rebecca Arredondo, Claudia Arredondo and Laura Arredondo, all of Amarillo; three sons, Damian Arredondo and Pedro Arredondo, both of Amarillo, and Juan Jose Arredondo Jr. of Oregon; his mother, Elena Favela Arredondo; two brothers, Isaias Arredondo and Pasqual Arredondo, both of Amarillo; two sisters, Maria Elena Perez and Teresa Mendoza, both of Amarillo; and four grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Charles Robert “Tuna” Windham Charles Robert “Tuna” Windham, 17, of Amarillo died Monday, Aug. 21, 2006. He was a sophomore at Bushland High School. Charles “Tuna” loved life and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. She was also a member of Amarillo South church. Mrs. Hutcherson was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her. Mr. Vargas was born Aug. 14, 1922, in Rosebud to Cirilo and Panfila Vargas. He served in the U.S. Navy during War World II. He had worked for Burlington Northern Railroad as an assistant agent. Gene married Adela Chavez on Jan. 16, 1947, in Amarillo. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe and served as a communion minister. Po was an avid wrestling fan and loved his western movies. He was preceded in death by his wife, Adela Vargas in 2003. Survivors include four daughters, Margo Jackson, Linda Trevino, Lisa Ramos and Lydia Ramos, all of Amarillo; two sons, Johnny Vargas of Amarillo and David Vargas of Lubbock; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at Stinnett Cemetery with Zeb Sailors officiating. He was born Aug. 12, 1912, north of Skellytown. Henry served in the infantry of the U.S. Army during WW II in the Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Southern France & Germany Campaign. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Eastern Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars and was awarded a Purple Heart after being wounded.Papa owned and operated an oil well service and a water well drilling business most of his life. He also built and operated a scenic chairlift ride at Ruiodoso, N.M., Papa stayed actively working until age 88 years old.Local residents may remember him selling watermelons, including his favorite black diamonds, every summer at his house on Main Street in Stinnett. His grandchildren will hold found memories of slumber parties, dominos, whittling sticks, building tents throughout his house and having biscuits with apple butter and grapefruit for breakfast the next morning. We also passed the time by counting the number of cars going down Main Street while trying to guess the next one’s color. We all feel much honor knowing such a brave man who taught us so much during his lifetime.Papa honored the Lord by serving his country, loving and providing for his family and living an honest and respectful life. He gave the Lord credit for all that he had.He is preceded in death by his wife, Percilla Irvin; his parents, William and Neva Mae Irvin; two brothers, Leo and Gus Irvin; and a sister, Ollie Mae Fulton. He attended school in Amarillo, where he participated in basketball and track and held the Texas state record for the half mile. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1945. Upon graduation, Bill served in the Marine Corps from 1946-1948. After leaving the Marine Corps, Bill attended Amarillo Junior College and captained the basketball team for two years, during which time the team was undefeated. He qualified for the U. S. Olympic Trials in Los Angeles in 1949. Bill graduated from Amarillo Junior College in 1950. He held various positions in sales. Bill was a member of West Amarillo Christian Church and an avid golfer and sports fan.
