Condren Jack J. Condren, 78, of Amarillo, formerly of Taloga, Okla., died Monday, Sept. 18, 2006. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Christian Church in Taloga. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Condren was born in Dewar, Okla. He married Mildred "Penny" Liest on June 29, 1948, in Wheeler. They were married 58 years. The family thanks Drs. Rankin, Sames and Cox, as well as Palo Duro Nursing and Rehabilitation and Hospice Care of the Southwest for their exceptional care. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with the Rev. Dale Moreland, associate of The Church of Quail Creek, and Marcus Yancey officiating. Mr. Shelton was born July 31, 1922, in Amarillo to Earl and Lois Marie Shelton. He lived his entire life in Amarillo. After graduating from Amarillo High in 1942, he joined the Navy and was a machinist mate, second class. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific where he received three stars, and the Philippine Liberation, where he received two stars. After retiring to Amarillo, he married Edna L. Smith on Jan. 1, 1949. He worked for New Mexico Transportation as a mechanic. He later worked as an automotive parts salesman for many years. He also was employed in later years with Ozarka Water Co. After retiring, he worked as a crossing guard at Arden Road Elementary School for 18 years. He loved working with the children. While serving as crossing guard, he and a child were involved in an accident and he received two awards for his life-saving actions. He was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church for 36 years and was active in the Children's Bus Ministry, along with various other ministries. He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepmother, Maude Shelton; three brothers, Earl L. Shelton Jr., Willis O. Shelton, his twin, and Robert G. Shelton; and a nephew, Oliver Shelton. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Elaine Yancey and husband Marcus of Pflugerville and Lisa Rogers of Amarillo; three grandsons, Colter Yancey of Pflugerville, Aaron Rogers of Austin and Blake Rogers of Amarillo; many nieces, nephews; and a host of friends. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area Alton Clifton CHILDRESS - Alton Clifton, 74, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006. "Pat" Joyce DUMAS - R.A. "Pat" Joyce, 87, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2006. "Pat" Joyce was born Feb. 15, 1919, in Childress. The family moved to Oklahoma, where they farmed, when she was a small child. Pat and M.M. Joyce were married on March 23, 1945, in Ponca City, Okla. Soon they moved to Moore County, where they lived at the Cactus Ordinance Works, which later became Phillips Petroleum Co. The couple had two children, Johnny and Lynda. Pat loved her home, family and friends very much. On June 7, 1999, her husband of 53 years, M.M., died. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Sarah and Will Frye; two sisters, Mary Hager of Dumas and Margaret Ropollo of Lake Tawakoni; and a brother, Jack Frye of Dumas. Survivors include a son, Johnny Bonny and wife Rose of Oklahoma City; a daughter, Lynda Barr of Amarillo; three sisters, Pauline Hill of Elk City, Okla., Francis Soloman of Moss Point, Miss., and Pearl Rogers of Malvern, Ark.; a brother, Bill Frye and wife Jean of Dumas; three grandchildren, Denise and Bryan Serrate of Tulsa, Okla., and Mike and Brenda Barr and Jeff and Sheri Barr, all of Dumas; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson. Mr. Cooper was a resident of White Deer for 45 years. He worked as a production superintendent for Dorchester Gas Co. and retired after 35 years of service. John was a loving family man with a great sense of humor and a passion for baseball as a player and a coach. As a history buff, he could recall many a story. He also served as a chaplain for the Oddfellows. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite; a son, John Benjamin Cooper in 2000; two brothers; and a sister.
