Joy was born Jan. 26, 1933, in Pecan Gap to J.R. and Ethel Sandlin. She had worked as a secretary for Congressman Bob Price in Pampa. She had also worked in property management and insurance management services. She married Hugh Bledsoe on Jan. 30, 1997, in Clovis, N.M. She was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Galey; a brother, Worth Sandlin; and three sisters, Louise Nisbett, Jaylene Pollard and Laurice Lacey. Survivors include her husband, Hugh Bledsoe; a daughter, Becki Jean Galey of Amarillo; two brothers, Dr. Bryce Sandlin and wife Laverne of Levelland and Dr. Doral Sandlin and wife Terri of Albuquerque, N.M.; two grandchildren, Jeff Pevehouse of El Reno, Okla., and Kelly Stavenhagen and husband Bobby of Amarillo; and four great-grandchildren, Troy and Morgan Pevehouse and Paige and Jenna Stavenhagen. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wilburna Scown Clayton Wilburna Scown Clayton, 87, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006. "Joe" Clayton on June 10, 1944, and they had been married 62 years. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1937 and Amarillo College and attended West Texas University. She was a member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church and the Journeymen's Bible Class. Mrs. Clayton volunteered to serve at Northwest Texas Hospital Auxiliary, Amarillo Little Theater and Lone Star Ballet. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Jo Moses; and a granddaughter, Breanna Moses. Survivors include her husband, Baxter G. "Joe" Clayton; three grandchildren, Freddie Joe Moses, Clay Moses and John David Moses, all of Atlanta; and a sister, Bonita Heath of Amarillo. Mrs. Hutson was a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She married Red Hutson on June 5, 1948. He preceded her in death on June 19, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Sam Hansard; and two brothers, John Hansard and Gene Hansard. Survivors include a son, Colby Hutson of Amarillo; a daughter, Priscilla Simons of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Shasta Smith of Moriarity, N.M., and J.J. Mrs. Campbell was born Jan. 26, 1917, in Harper County to William Richard and Ida Jane Legan Rose. She married Van Campbell on March 26, 1938, in Beaver. Guy Duane F. Guy, 77, of Canyon died Monday, Sept. 18, 2006, in Amarillo. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church of Canyon with the Rev. Duane Francis Guy was born Dec. 26, 1928, in Atwood, Kan., to Ellen Ruhaak and Franklin Earl Guy. The Guys later moved to Hays, Kan., where Duane graduated from high school. He married Lynette Pearson in McCracken, Kan., on June 5, 1955. Guy served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 and was stationed in Korea for 14 months of that time. Guy received bachelor's and master's degrees in history from Fort Hays State University and his Ph.D. degree from the University of Kansas. He came to now West Texas A&M University in Canyon in 1958 as a history professor. In 1967 he became head of the history department, later history and political science, a position he held until his retirement in 1994. He was recipient of the Faculty Excellence Award in 1985 and was awarded the title of Professor Emeritus in 1995. He served as sponsor for the Interfraternity Council at WT for many years and was an avid WTAMU basketball fan. Guy served as editor of the Panhandle-Plains Historical Review for 13 years; the 1976 Review was a definitive work on Palo Duro Canyon and has been reprinted by Texas Tech Press as "The Story of Palo Duro Canyon." He was the author of "A History of the Panhandle Bankers Association" and "Texas 47-Deaf Smith," co-editor of "A Joyful Journey, A History of the First United Methodist Church, Canyon, Texas, 1889-1989" and a contributor to "Continuing A Joyful Journey." He was active in community affairs: He coached Little League and Babe Ruth baseball teams; he was house manager at the historical drama "Texas" in Palo Duro Canyon for 14 years; he was a member of the planning and zoning board for the city of Canyon and served on the Canyon Area Library building committee. He was a faithful member of Canyon's First United Methodist Church and served as chair or member of many of the committees and boards of the church. He was a member of Westerners International, a lay western-history organization, and Phi Alpha Theta, honorary history fraternity. He was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma social fraternity at Fort Hays State. He served as chair of the 1976 American Revolution Bicentennial Committee of Amarillo and chair of the Canyon/Randall County Bicentennial Committee and was a member of the Texas Colleges and Universities Bicentennial Committee. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Willard E. Guy and Ralph R. Guy. Survivors include his wife, Lynn; a son, Marc Guy and wife Sue of Carrollton; a daughter, Patti Reeves and husband Ron of Plano; and four grandchildren, Jonathan and Jennifer Reeves and Alexa and Aric Guy.
