Dye DALHART - J.C. Dye, 98, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with Rodney Weatherly, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Horizon Funeral Home. Mr. Dye was born Nov. 3, 1907, in the Oklahoma Territory, 13 days before it became a state. He was the oldest child of Alexander and Beulah Grace Isenhauer Dye, who were the parents of 10 children. J.C. grew up near Hardesty, Okla., and attended school in Goodwell, Okla. He operated a Kaiser- Frazier dealership in Dalhart and Dumas for several years and later operated a Chrysler dealership in Dalhart. Mr. Dye was also a farmer in the area. J.C. was a member of First Baptist Church and sang in the church choir for 20 years. He taught himself to play the guitar and piano. He also played the French harp, saxophone and organ. He was preceded in death by two wives, Irene Nickeson Dye and Fern Parker Dye; a daughter, Rogene Jones; four sons, John, Chester, Phillip and Lester Clarence; a grandson, Kevin Dye; and a granddaughter, Rogena Elliott. Mr. Morris was born Jan. 16, 1929, in Jacksboro to Margaret Simpson Morris and Thomas Jordan Morris. He was owner of Jerry Morris Pump and Windmill Repair Service. He worked his entire life in the Miami area with his father in drilling and service. He enjoyed roller skating, working with tools and visiting and drinking coffee at the cafe. He was a member of Church of Christ in Miami, where he wrote the weekly bulletin for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Robert Jordan Morris and James Lee Morris. Lane Boyd, senior pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St. Mrs. Campsey was born Jan. 10, 1914, in Cambridge, Kan. She spent her younger years on a farm in Winfield, Kan., before moving to Vega, where she met and then married James "Jim" Campsey on Aug. 2, 1929, in Tucumcari, N.M. Verna Mae and Jim worked on their farm east of Vega during the hard Dust Bowl and Depression years. Because the times and work were so hard, Verna Mae always said in later years "The good ole times are right now." While on the farm, they had a son, Jimmy, and a daughter, Ida Lou, and a son, Jerry, after moving in town to Vega. In 1938, they moved to Amarillo, where Jim worked for the smelter, and they later had two sons, Lee and Billy. After Jim retired, they had 28 years of winters in their trailer on Lake Falcon in South Texas. She loved her family and the fellowship of her friends. In November 1999, her husband, Jim Campsey, died after 69 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Charlie Steward of Dexter, Kan., Pete Steward of Cedaredge, Colo., Earnest Steward of Odessa and Jack Steward of Amarillo; and a great-grandson. Survivors include four sons, Jimmy Campsey of Fritch, Jerry Campsey of Lubbock, Lee Campsey and wife Alice of San Angelo and Billy Campsey and wife Carolyn of Amarillo; a daughter, Ida Lou Pendleton and husband L.B. of Amarillo; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wanda Joyce Admire Wanda Joyce Admire, 67, of Amarillo died Friday, Sept. 22, 2006. Asa loved working on cars and making them go fast. Mrs. Barron was born Oct. 29, 1918, in Winthrop, Ark., to Mary Rose Ward Porterfield and William Conley Porterfield. She married Ralph H. Barron on Feb. 26, 1938, in Sayre, Okla. Iris was employed as city secretary for 17 years in Lefors and as a dorm director at South Plains College in Levelland for three years. After moving to Abilene in 1971, she became a dorm director at Abilene Christian University, retiring in 1987 after 16 years of service to the school. Iris belonged to Highland Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Mrs. Boothe died peacefully in Minneapolis on Sept. 17, 2006. Mrs. Boothe was a first grade teacher at Wolflin School and served as primary supervisor for Amarillo Public Schools for many years. Since 2000, she had lived in Minneapolis to be closer to family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shannon L. Boothe in 1997; two brothers; and two sisters, Lena Mae Botts and Ruby Nelson, both of Amarillo.
