Private family services will be today in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. A native of the Mennonite farming community of Corn in western Oklahoma, Mrs. Kliewer, born Aug. 9, 1923, was the only surviving child of Annie and Abe Friesen. Mrs. Friesen, nee Radowski, had immigrated to America from Russia in 1910, and in 1912 became the wife of Corn local merchant Abe Friesen. On Nov. 13, 1944, Edyth Friesen married Clarence E. Kliewer, also of Corn, in Brownwood, Texas, where Mr. Kliewer was stationed as a member of the U.S. Army. The couple had been classmates at Corn High School, where they graduated in 1941. Mrs. Kliewer earned a bachelor's degree from Southwestern State University in Weatherford, Okla., and worked briefly as a school teacher in Oklahoma and later as a Realtor in Plainview. Mr. Kliewer graduated from Southwestern after returning from combat service in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. The Kliewers began their household and family in Weatherford, where they had three children, and Mr. Kliewer also started his 30-year career in the auto dealership business as an accountant. The couple later had a fourth child in Borger. After Weatherford, the family lived in Clinton, Okla., and then Borger for more than a decade. They subsequently relocated to Amarillo and then on to Plainview, but moved to Fresno, Calif., in 1978 upon retirement. In 1991, they returned to Amarillo. The Kliewers were members of Paramount Baptist Church in Amarillo. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Catherine Arthur and husband Robert of Amarillo; three sons, Terry Kliewer and wife Jan of Katy, Philip Kliewer and wife Terry of Tulsa, Okla., and Randal Kliewer and wife Valerie of Austin; and 12 grandchildren, Camille, Renee and Celeste Kliewer, all of Austin, Capt. Chris Kliewer of Fort Sill, Okla., Sam Kliewer of Tulsa, Julie and husband Mark Domansky of Lubbock, Kelton Arthur of Lubbock and Addison, Simon, Charlie, Isaac and Theo Kliewer, all of Austin. The family suggests memorials be to the Harrington Cancer Center in Amarillo. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Isaac Robert Pompa Jr. Isaac Robert Pompa Jr., 34, of Amarillo died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006. Prayer services will be at 7 p.m. today in Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. David Maldonado, pastor of Good Shepherd Temple of Praise Church in Cuero, and Virginia Maldonado officiating. Burial will be in Union Valley Cemetery. Isaac Robert Pompa Jr. was born May 8, 1972, in Floresville to Isaac and Aurelia "Ree" Saldana Pompa. He graduated from Caprock High School in 1991 and played baseball for the Longhorns. He attended Texas State Technical Institute where he studied computer graphics and design before he went to work for American Airlines as a ramp agent. As a young boy, he loved to ride his bike to raise money for cancer organizations. He also loved the outdoors including fishing, camping, golfing and coaching and refereeing sports. His favorite spot to camp and fish was in Red River, N.M. Isaac loved the Lord and attended Paramount Terrace Christian Church. He will be remembered for his sweet and gentle spirit. Isaac was a special blessing to his family as they faced many hardships. He will be greatly missed, as he was loved very much by his family and friends. Survivors include his parents, Isaac and Ree Pompa of Amarillo; a brother, Jeff Pompa of Amarillo; a niece, Jordan Pompa of Amarillo; his grandparents, Anita Saldana of Nixon and Lucille and Frank Pompa of Union Valley; a special friend, Natalie White of Amarillo; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins; and his pet ferrets, Scooter and Shadow. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and also an excellent cook. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin Teague. Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Gamage and husband Gordon; and a great- grandson, Wesley B. Combs. Gus was a Cottle County commissioner and a rancher. He worked as a natural gas field technician for 27 years. Lacy was born Nov. 16, 1982, in Dumas to Lisa Cartrite and Fred Vasquez. She was a lifetime resident of Sunray and a member of Sunray Baptist Church. Waiting in Heaven are her great-grandfather, Lloyd Keith; her grandparents, Frank and Janie Vasquez; and an uncle, Ricky Vasquez. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Kevin Everett, pastor, and the Rev. Clay Coursey of Lubbock officiating. Burial will be in North Fairview Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Mrs. Holliman was born Jan. 17, 1920, in Floydada to Carr Scott and Clara Jane Scott. She married Horace Holliman on Oct. 16, 1935, in Hollis, Okla. He died in 2001. She was a member of First Baptist Church, the VFW Auxiliary and Chaparral Sams RV Club and was active in Keenagers. Mother was a talented seamstress who used her expertise to ensure that her children would always look the best. She spent many hours while we were asleep to make sure we had that special outfit. Mother was also a wonderful cook, the grandkids can attest to this. We learned to cook at our mother's knee. She loved to share her homemade goods with others, taking food to neighbors, friends and family. Everyone loved to get a dish from Cathern. She was also preceded in death by seven brothers and a sister. Survivors include two sons, Horace Bo Holliman and wife Patricia of Wellington and De Holliman and wife Dottie of Panhandle; two daughters, Alcie Estes and husband Bill of Vernon and Rebecca Owens and husband Ralph of Wellington; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Moffett was born April 29, 1945, in Clarendon to J.C. and Lora Mae Seaton Moffett. He graduated from Clarendon High School and attended Clarendon College. He received a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech. Mr. Moffett taught vocational agriculture at McLean, Mobeetie and Fort Elliott. He retired in 1998 after 30 years of teaching. After his retirement he moved to Panhandle, where he enjoyed working in the pro shop of Panhandle Country Club. He married Alesha Moore on May 28, 1965, in Clarendon. He was a member and deacon at Calvary Baptist Church in Panhandle. He was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and a life member of the Ag Teachers Association. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Ona Mae Brogdon. Survivors include his wife, Alesha; two daughters, Shelia Touchstone and husband Billy and Diane Brice and husband Jamy, all of Amarillo; a son, John Moffett and wife Alicia of Grandbury; and seven grandchildren, Ann and Bryant Touchstone, Hunter, Cooper and Berklee Brice and Lexi and Madison Moffett. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Directors. Mr. Bland was born Dec. 8, 1917, to Ernest Lee Bland and Alberta Golf Bland. He ranched for many years in the Des Moines area and operated the Union County Custom Kill plant in Clayton for many years retiring in 1990. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a member of First Baptist Church, Ochiltree Masonic Lodge, The Wheatheart Shrine-Kiva Temple, the Elks Lodge No. 2368, and the IOOF Lodge. He was preceded in death by a son, Roger David Riggins, on Nov. 3, 1998.
