Rosary was said at 7 p.m. Sunday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road. Mass will be at 8:30 a.m. today in St. Laurence Cathedral. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Escobar was born June 8, 1976, in El Paso. Survivors include his wife, Maira DeLeon Escobar; two sons, Esteban Escobar Jr. and Eddy Escobar; a daughter, Celeste Escobar; his parents, Artinaldo and Jovita Quiroz Escobar; four sisters, Elizabeth Venzor, Gabriela Ramirez, Claudia Bonilla and Lorenza Avila; three brothers, Reginaldo Escobar Jr., Oscar Melchor and Arturo Escobar; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Maria Del Rosario Ruiz Rivero Maria Del Rosario Ruiz Rivero, 81, of Amarillo died Friday, Sept. 29, 2006. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with Larry Floyd, elder of Jehovah's Witnesses, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery East. Mrs. Rivero married Teodoro Rivero in 1956. Mrs. Rivero moved to Amarillo from Mexico in 1988 with her husband. She was an active member of Jehovah's Witnesses congregation. Mr. Rivero passed away in 1999. Survivors include a daughter, Martha Olga Ruiz Ruiz of Amarillo; four sons, Ramon Ruiz, Manuel Ruiz Rivero, Jesus Ruiz Rivero and Miguel Ruiz Rivero, all of Amarillo; a sister, Maria Hernandez Ruiz of Amarillo; two brothers, Manuel Hernandez Ruiz of Amarillo and Jesus Hernandez Ruiz of Chihuahua, Mexico; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dr. Ralph Citron Dr. Ralph Citron, 86, of Amarillo died Friday, Sept. 29, 2006. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Llano Cemetery with Bernard Cohen of Temple B'Nai Israel officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Dr. Citron was born Jan. 21, 1920, in Berlin, the son of Professor Julius and Lily Citron. He went to high school in Tel Aviv, Israel. At age 16, Ralph entered St. Bartholomew's Medical School at the University of London and obtained his medical degree at age 21. He completed a surgical residency in one year and then an orthopedic residency at the Royal National Orthopedic Hospital in London in three years. During this time, World War II was raging, and Ralph did his part in the British Home Guard and Emergency Medical Service. In 1945, Ralph moved to New York City, where he was senior orthopedic resident at Mount Sinai Hospital. Between 1946 and 1949, Ralph was the associate of the chief of orthopedic surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital. In 1949, he moved to Amarillo to become the orthopedic surgeon at the VA Hospital. After three years, in 1952, he entered private practice. The Korean War intervened, during which he was a major in the Air Force as well as chief orthopedic surgeon of the Far East Air Force stationed in Nagoya, Japan. At the end of his tour, he returned to Amarillo, where he was acting head of the Air Force Hospital. In 1955, until his retirement in 1995, he resumed private practice. For 40 years, he treated thousands of patients from all over the Panhandle as well as from the surrounding areas in New Mexico, Kansas and Oklahoma. Ralph was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and of the Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. In addition, he was a member of the Texas Medical Association, the Texas Orthopedic Society and the Western Orthopedic Association. For 10 years, Ralph was chief of surgery at Northwest Texas Hospital. Ralph was a member and past president of Temple B'Nai Israel. He was an avid duplicate bridge player and a prodigious reader. A loving husband and father and a vibrant part of Amarillo's medical community, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife, Martha; a daughter, Shelley Gorson and husband Alan Salpeter of Chicago; two sons, Dr. Daniel Citron and wife Van Ha of Denver and Sloane Citron and wife Judith of Menlo Park, Calif.; three stepchildren, Ty Cunningham and wife Linda and Tracy Cunningham, all of Austin, and Mia Cunningham of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Evelyn Vardon of Denver; and 11 grandchildren, Allison and David Gorson, Joshua, Arielle, Talia and Jacob Citron, Haiden and Keilin Citron and Geneva, Filipe and Cash Cunningham. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Caprock Baptist Church with Gene Foster of Caprock Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. Coffman was born Feb. 17, 1931, in Commerce. She married Charlie Coffman on April 1, 1951. Jean worked for many years at Sav A Stop and retired from Kmart. She was a devoted member of Caprock Baptist Church. She loved the outdoors and spent many wonderful times in the mountains with Charlie and the children. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1976. Survivors include two daughters, Sandy Brisley and husband Paul of Mesquite, Nev., and Susan Haile and husband Jerry of Amarillo; a son, Sam Coffman and wife Deb of Park City, Kan.; two sisters, Glenna Crawford of Panhandle and Pat Bridge of Oklahoma; a brother, W.D. Queary of Lubbock; five grandchildren, Eugene Willis, Amy Willis, Angela Warren, Shelby Coffman and Shanna Garcia; eight great-grandchildren, Kayla Willis, Zachary Willis, Anthony Thomas, Hunter Warren, Ashley Warren, Zachary Garcia, Kaleb Garcia and Luke Garcia; and a great-great-grandchild, Aiden Willis. Celebration of life services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Bulin, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery by Hereford Heritage Funeral Home. Mr. Rickman, longtime Hereford resident, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at his residence on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006. Mr. Rickman was born Nov. 24, 1924, in Farmersville to Floyd and Ida Wood Rickman. He married his wife and sweetheart Maxine Trammell Rickman of 62 years on Oct. 31, 1943. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Floyd moved his family to Hereford in 1948 from Farmersville. Mr. Rickman worked in construction for a while; however, his passion was cattle. He was a cattle processor. Floyd was a longtime member of Avenue Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sons, Dennis Rickman in 1982, Richard Rickman in 1998 and Dwight Rickman in 2005. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Carol Lovan of Durant, Okla., and Donna Rickman of Hereford; a brother, LeRoy Rickman of Hereford; three sisters, Inez Houston, Imogene Sweeney and Winnie Tyler, all of Hereford; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Local arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Johnson was born Dec. 20, 1920, in Clarendon and had been a resident of Pampa since 1981. He married Ina Mae Ward on Oct. 30, 1941, in Wichita Falls. He was a farmer and rancher and a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Newton Johnson and Minnie Ora Jeffcote Johnson; a son, William Kenworth Johnson, on May 28, 2006; two sisters, Verlie Mae Johnson and Etta Fay Isbell; and a brother, Billy Joe Johnson. "Bert" Martinez CLAYTON, N.M. - Eusebio B. "Bert" Martinez, 67, died Friday, Sept. 29, 2006, in Garden City, Kan. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the church with the Rev. John Shedlock, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors. Mr. Martinez was born July 23, 1939, in Clayton to Miguel Antonio Martinez and Aurora Archuleta Martinez. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, re-enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve and served as a drill sergeant until he retired on July 23, 1999, as a staff sergeant E6. Survivors include three daughters, Sue Hernandez and Vicki Martinez, both of Garden City, and Pam Salazar of Denver; two sons, Bert Martinez and Randy Martinez, both of Garden City; 11 grandchildren; five great-granddaughters; three sisters, Shirley Trancoso of Denver, Edith Martinez of West Jordan, Utah, and Mary June Sanchez of Trinidad, Colo.; and three brothers, Archie Martinez and Claudie Martinez, both of Garden City, and Sydney Martinez of Denver. Mrs. Lee was a clerk in the Texas County Court Clerk's office, retiring in 1981. She was an active member of the Methodist church and served the community for several years in the Memorial Hospital Canteen. Mrs. Cobb was born Feb. 5, 1919, in Brownwood to Walter and Betty King Abbott. She and her husband, Norman H. Cobb, moved to Odessa from Amarillo and opened JoWana Crafts, where she taught tole painting and crafts. Survivors include a daughter, Kay Smiley of Gatesville; a son, Dr. Norman Cobb of Arlington; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She married Milo Wicks Horner on June 14, 1941, in her parents' home near Carleton. Survivors include a son, Charles Stephen Horner of Fort Morgan, Colo.; a daughter, Beverly Elaine Burger of Perryton, Texas; five grandchildren; two great-grandsons; a sister, Pauline Hawks of Hebron; and a brother, Albert Miller of Shickley.
