Jenkins Al N. Jenkins, 85, of Amarillo died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2006. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Rich Jones, associate pastor of Saint Stephen United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Jenkins was born in Caldwell and moved to Amarillo in 1927 with his parents, former Amarillo mayor Joe Jenkins and Doris Whitmore Jenkins and his sister, Janie. He graduated from Amarillo High School, Class of 1938. He then graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in architechtural engineering. He served as a commissioned officer during World War II and served in the Korean conflict as a lieutenant colonel. In 1957 he became the owner of Jenkins Doors and Windows. He continued as owner/operator until 2000, when the business was sold. Al was a longtime member of Downtown Kiwanis and Saint Stephen United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Lillian; two sons, David and wife Carol of McAllen and Alan of Austin; a daughter, Margaret and husband Mike of Amarillo; three stepdaughters, Carrie and husband Leonard of Dallas, Leah and husband Mike of Amarillo and Zan and husband Kirk of Crosby; a stepson, Sid of Chicago; a brother, John and wife Ingrid of Dallas; and a sister, Janie and husband Avery of Amarillo. He was Grand Dad, Grandpa or Pepaw to Benjamin H., Berenice, Benjamin J., Josh, Janell, Lane, Robert, Val, Amy, Michael, Erin, Jason, J.J., Michelle, Sydney, Terra and several great-grandchildren. Patricia was born June 4, 1926, in Amarillo to Allye and Travis C. Lively. The family moved to Pampa in 1928. She married Jack White of Amarillo on June 25, 1954, in Pampa. She was an active member of Amarillo Little Theatre and served as president in 1964-1965 and a second term from 1965-66. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1944 and in 1948 graduated from Texas Tech. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She taught high school English in Sterling City in 1948-49. She relocated to Pampa in 1949. She then taught English at Pampa High School until relocating to Amarillo in 1956. Patricia was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack White; her parents; a brother, Travis C. Lively Jr.; and a sister, Jeanne Duket Dews. Survivors include a brother, Lamar G. Lively and wife Phyl of Amarillo; three nieces, Susan Bausone and husband Pete of Mansfield, Debbie Reed and husband Bob of Arlington and Barbara Ann Garner of Lewisville; and a nephew, Clay Lively and wife Mary of Round Rock; several great-nieces and great-nephews; six great-great-nieces; and a great-great-nephew. Mrs. Winger was born Sept. 16, 1910, in Cooke County to Irwin and Maude Ayres. She married David Val Winger on Jan. 31, 1927, in Gainesville. He died in 1941. She was a homemaker and a member of Gruver Church of Christ, the Diligent Dozen Club and the Golden Age Senior Citizens. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and three daughters, Marie Harbour, Joette Riley and Carol Winger. Mrs. Lopez was born Feb. 20, 1919, in Cornelia to Ramon and Ramona Villarreal. She married Jose Corda Lopez on May 2, 1934, in Sinton. Mrs. Swink was born May 23, 1923, in Piney, Ark., to Julia Ann and Peter Jones Files Jr. She married Norman Swink on Jan. 22, 1945, in Yuma, Ariz. She graduated from Spearman High School in 1941. She worked at Western Union during World War II. She was a homemaker, a loving wife, a caring mother and a fun Memaw. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Rose Smith. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Jewett was born Nov. 19, 1929, in Memphis. She married Clifford Jewett on Nov. 2, 1950, in Hollis, Okla. She lived in Amarillo for 25 years and then lived in Clarendon for more than 20 years before moving to Pampa in 2000. She was a Baptist and a homemaker, and she loved to cook, garden and work in her yard. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be sorely missed by her family and friends. Wallace W. West passed away Monday, Oct. 2, 2006, at Walls Regional Hospital after a prolonged illness. He was born March 22, 1948, in Haywood, Calif., to Dan and Susie Brown West, who have gone on before him. He grew up in Amarillo and was a member of the Adventist church in Amarillo and was a licensed vocational nurse. Wally was a beautiful soul, a wonderful nurse and his singing voice was like an angel - he will live on in our hearts forever - never to be forgotten. Survivors include his wife, Barbara West; a son, Kevin Phillip of Cleburne; his mother-in-law, Modenia McMillan of Blum; three sisters, Jackie Thurman of Houston and Jodie McReynolds and Jan West, both of Amarillo; a niece, Renee' Fowler of Houston; a nephew, Mike Thurman of Houston; and many other nieces and nephews in Amarillo. Services will be at noon Wednesday in Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in DFW National Cemetery in Dallas. Dale Parvin was born Oct. 18, 1924, near Hammon, Okla., to Emma Rose Reed Parvin. He was the youngest of five brothers and sisters. Dale graduated from Perryton High School in 1943 and joined the U.S. Army, serving three years during World War II, two of those in Europe. After returning from military service, Dale benefited from the G.I. Bill and attended West Texas State University, now West Texas A&M University, receiving his bachelor of science degree in May 1950 and his master's in counseling in 1953. Dale and Cecile Cardwell were married on Sept. 29, 1951, when Dale was coaching in Dalhart ISD. Cecile and Dale returned to Canyon in 1952 to complete work on their degrees at West Texas State University. Dale also worked at WT during this time. Dale and Cecile taught in Amarillo ISD from 1952 to 1956, then moved to McLean, where Dale was principal. They moved to Perryton in 1959, after Dale accepted a teaching/coaching position at Perryton Junior High School and Cecile accepted a teaching position at Central Elementary School. Dale spent 32 years at Perryton Junior High School, one year as a math teacher and 31 years as a principal. During his career as a principal, Dale had several articles on school leadership published in "Texas Outlook," the official magazine of the Texas State Teachers' Association. He also served on several Texas Education Agency evaluation teams to review accreditation for colleges and universities with teacher education programs. Dale was a member of many professional associations, including the Texas and National Secondary School Principals Association. Dale retired from Perryton ISD in 1991 after serving as an innovative school leader who touched many lives during his tenure. He was especially proud of creating English as a second language programs to serve English language learners as well as starting a program for talented and gifted students in the Perryton schools. Dale was a charter member of VFW Post 7107, a 50-year member of Kiwanis, a Freemason since 1954, a YMCA coach for many years and a life member of the Texas State Teachers' Association and the Texas Retired Teachers' Association. Dale also helped to organize the Perryton Area Retired School Personnel Association (PARSPA), the credit union and the Perryton Senior Center, where he served as president of the board from 1998 to 2002. Dale moved to Dallas in early 2004, living at C.C. Young Retirement Community. He enjoyed his years in Dallas and made many wonderful friends at C.C. Young, where he served as president of the Asbury Independent Living Community. During his time in Dallas, Dale wrote and published an article, "Christmas in Nance," about his experience in World War II and received the C.C. Young "Spirit is Ageless" artistic achievement award for his photography. Dale will be remembered by many friends, former colleagues and students from the Panhandle and he will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends in Dallas and across the country. As one friend wrote: "We will miss the man, his humor, his stories and the twinkle in his eye." He was preceded in death by his wife, Cecile; his mother, Emma Rose; and all of his brothers and sisters. Survivors include three daughters, Jennifer Parvin, a school principal in Dallas ISD; Dr. Mary Anne Reed of Dallas and Marti Newton, a retired school administrator in Oklahoma City; a niece, Samantha Langholz and family of Tulsa, Okla.; a nephew, Bill Wills of Colorado; Jeanne, Gene, and Jeff Simmons, his sister-in-law, brother-in-law and nephew, of Visalia, Calif.
