Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Seventh-day Adventist Church with Sean Robinson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mr. Whalen was born March 15, 1930, in Steeleville, Mo., to Earl and Charlotte Whalen. He married Evelyn Tucker Ellis on May 28, 1948. In his early years, he farmed in the Umbarger and Canyon area. Later in life, he worked in the furniture business in the Amarillo area and also for Cains Coffee Co. He was an avid animal lover and enjoyed working in his yard. Ernest greatly loved his family and was our "Rock." He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Loretta Whalen, Earlene Young and Melba Offield; and a brother, Dan Whalen. Survivors left to cherish his memories include his wife; three daughters, Sally Bell, Kathy Whalen and Lila Hamby and husband Buddy, all of Amarillo; two sons, Ernest Whalen Jr. and wife Diana of Amarillo and Johnny Ellis and wife Sharon of Robstown; four sisters, Ellen Craig of Amarillo, Sue Ross of Pueblo, Colo., Patricia Whalen and friend Mazel Thomas of Santa Monica, Calif., and Agnes Sanders of Steeleville; four brothers, Gary Whalen of Poland, N.Y., Raymond Whalen of Madison, Ala., Patrick Whalen of El Paso and Roger Whalen of Santa Ana, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great- grandchildren. Mrs. Douglas was born Sept. 30, 1919, in Delaware County, Okla., to Marshal and Florence Wilson. She was a homemaker and loved cooking, camping and bowling. She was a member of Southeast Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond Douglas; a son, Darrell Douglas; and a brother, Lee Wilson. Mrs. Martinez was born Jan. 16, 1932, in Wisconsin. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of TOPS. She was a caregiver for many years with Goodcare Agency and a nursery worker at North Amarillo Christian Church. Her many hobbies included gardening, reading and helping people. She was generous and loving to friends and furry creatures. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Elizabeth Farnam; and a brother, Daniel Farnam. Survivors include her husband, Chris Martinez; a daughter, Kathleen Martinez; two brothers, Carroll Farnam and Earl Farnam; and two sisters, Elvira Cornell and Sharon Pieper. Bell St. Mrs. McCutchan was born Oct. 8, 1912, in PawPaw, Okla., to Robert and LouDella Belote. She was one of eight children to this union. Four other children had been born from a subsequent marriage. At an early age, her family moved to Wheeler County, where her father was a blacksmith. While in Wheeler County, Gladys worked for and lived with the Britt family on the Britt Ranch. The Britts gave her a wonderful education, and she loved the Britt family very much. She later moved to Shamrock, where she met and married William Theodore McCutchan. She was a resident of Amarillo for 65 years. Mrs. McCutchan leaves behind a legacy of good Christian works, an example of great moral character and strength of purpose. She taught her children these things by living what she wanted them to become. She was a great inspiration to all who came in contact with her. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; three brothers, Vernon Belote, Ernest Belote and L.D. Foster Belote; and five sisters, Edna Southern, Dessie, Lillian, Melba Bruce and Faye Cooper Whiteley. Survivors include three sons, William Franklin McCutchan and wife Karin, James Donald McCutchan and wife Phyllis and Robert David McCutchan and wife, Lisa; a sister, Ruby Cadenhead Williams of San Antonio; a brother, Morris Belote of Longview; seven grandchildren, Mike McCutchan, Mark McCutchan, Ryan McCutchan, Jeff McCutchan, Cristina Wuttke, Greg McCutchan and Richard McCutchan; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Sossaman on May 12, 1973, in Dimmitt. She was owner of Sam's Liquor Store in Hereford for many years and co-owner of Sossaman Trucking Co. of Hereford. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 3, 1999. Eula's primary vocation in life was being a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend.
