DeMont Mary B. DeMont, 80, of Amarillo died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Monsignor Joseph Tash celebrating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. DeMont was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. Survivors include two daughters, Jeanne DeMont and Suzanne DeMont, both of Amarillo; a son, Jac DeMont of North Richland Hills; a grandson, Keith Joseph DeMont of North Richland Hills; five adopted grandchildren, Joseph, Ashley, Chelsea, Kevin and Zach; and many loving nieces and nephews. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Helen Louise Logan Helen Louise Logan, 57, of Amarillo died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Washington Avenue Christian Church with Jim Shelburne, senior pastor, officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park East Mausoleum by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Helen Louise Logan was called home by the Lord on Oct. 15, 2006, after a lengthy courageous battle with MS. Helen was born Dec. 9, 1948, in Nacogdoches. She loved animals and also enjoyed gardening. Her favorite flower was the iris. Helen was a very appreciative person, and never complained about anything. Her generous and compassionate heart was an inspiration to all. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister and friend. The lives she touched are countless, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her father, Alton Blackwell; and a brother, Richard Blackwell. Survivors left to cherish her memories are two sons, Chris Logan and wife Janie and Donnie Logan Jr., all of Amarillo; her mother, Louise Blackwell of Amarillo; a sister, Rosemary Roden and husband Don of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Jon, Jena, Courtney, Jordin, Elena and Gracie; two nieces, Shelly Braswell and husband Jonathan of Amarillo and Rachelle Blackwell of Payson, Ariz.; her stepmother, Dolores Blackwell; a sister-in-law, Crystal Blackwell of Hartshorne, Okla; and her dog, whom she loved very much, Tiny. Mark Johnson was born May 25, 1958, in Troy, Ohio, to Howard and Bonnie Johnson. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard, in 1983; his mother, Bonnie, in 1984; and a brother, James Johnson, in 1994. Survivors include two daughters, Stephanie Pacheco and Jennifer Silva, both of Amarillo; four sisters, Phyliss Fisher and husband Tom of Anderson, S.C., Fay Tow and husband Dale of Amarillo, Betty Mitchem of Amarillo and Julie Howard of Pampa; seven brothers, John H. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- James Bennett McCroan James Bennett McCroan, 91, of Amarillo died Monday, Oct. 16, 2006 Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Dr. Chester O'Brien officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. McCroan was born in Gorman, Eastland County, and moved to Amarillo from Canadian in 1954. He was a locomotive engineer with the A.T.&S.F. Railway and retired after 34 years of service. He was a member of Washington Avenue Christian Church, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, Palo Duro Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star. He married Mildred McDonald in 1933. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley; and a son, Jamie. Survivors include three grandsons, Eddy and Eb Muncy of California and Jim Muncy of Georgia; a sister, Tommye Roberts of Amarillo; a nephew, Charles Crump and wife Joyce of Amarillo; a special friend, Bess Lott; eight great- grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Paul Smith Sr. Paul Smith Sr., 93, of Amarillo died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Warford-Walker Mortuary, 509 N. Hughes St. Paul Smith Sr. was born Dec. 18, 1912, in Groesbeck. He attended schools in Groesbeck. He retired from Asarco Inc. in 1975, and was an Amarillo resident for 60 years. Mr. Smith was a Baptist by faith. Survivors include his wife, Ollie; three daughters, Doris Larry of San Antonio, Ellen J. Brown of Denton and Vera Jean Young of Los Angeles; two sons, Paul Smith Jr. and wife Cynthia of Amarillo and Jerome Smith and wife Rosalind of Dallas; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a number of great-great-grandchildren; a special nephew, Herbert Thomas of Los Angeles; and a host of other nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alvin R. Max Beggs and the Rev. Robert Field officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Alvin was born Jan. 15, 1914, in Gainesville to Benjamin Franklin "Frank" and Sara Ellen Winters. He married Willie Mae Stone on March 5, 1938, in Hedley. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge in Memphis, where he owned the Cyclone Drive- In. The family moved to Amarillo in 1963 and was in the restaurant business until retirement. After retirement, he and his wife enjoyed selling antiques and jewelry at area flea markets. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lakeview and attended Fairview Assembly of God in Amarillo. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and two sons, Donald R. Winters (infant) and Jimmy Ray Winters. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara D. Brice of Amarillo; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Stratford Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Craig was born Feb. 1, 1909, in Ideal to Leander Owen and Eliza Annie Paris Boney. On Oct. 21, 1925, she married James Burton Craig in Stinnett. She was a charter member of Sunray Baptist Church since 1937 and was very active in the church. She taught Sunday school and was active in WMU, serving as a past president. She had been a Sunray resident since 1977. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Burton Craig, in December 1961; a daughter, Twila Mae Wilson on Nov. 26, 1996; a granddaughter, Nella Beth in December 1969; and two daughters-in-law, Nell Craig in 1999 and Bettie June Craig in 1998. Survivors include two sons, James Craig and wife Joyce and Wood Craig, all of Sunray; a sister, Cora Stinson of Denton; a son-in-law, Wilbur Wilson of Skiatook, Okla.; 14 grandchildren, Loyce Anne, Robyn, Jimmy, Jamye Lynne, Danny, Dianne, Cindy, Frank, Tammy, Warren, Valerie, H.A., Noel and Neil; 31 great-grandchildren; and 36 great-great-grandchildren. She married Alphus Allin West in 1936 in Mobeetie. He preceded her in death in 1981. She was a member of Priest Park Church of God, where she played the piano and taught Sunday school for many years. She was president of the Ladies Willing Workers in Pampa. She loved to cook and bake for others, and she was famous for her rolls and pies. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Cliff Ruff; a daughter, Pat Marchman; a daughter-in-law, Linda West; a son-in-law, Earl Kyle; four sisters; and two brothers.
