Memorial services and celebration of her life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with the Rev. Roy Wheeler of Paramount Terrace Christian Church officiating. Private burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Our beloved mother, Barbara Annis Beeson, born Aug. 13, 1919, in Stillwater, Okla., to Charles and Zaida Porter, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Oct. 17, 2006, in Denton. Although she will be greatly missed, we rejoice that she is now with the Lord in Heaven in her perfect body forevermore. She grew up in Oklahoma and graduated from Stillwater High School in 1937. She married her sweetheart, James Beeson, in 1940 and attended art school. As Jim served in the Army in World War II, she continued developing her artistic talents while working for a photographer. She also gave of her time as a volunteer for the USO. Barbara's artistic talent grew and she became very adept at oil painting both photographs and landscapes. She worked for Gray's Studio for more than 25 years and was well-known for her restorations and oils. She retired in 1985. She was also a very active member of Beta Sigma Phi for more than 25 years and was a beloved friend of many. She and her husband, Jim, enjoyed traveling frequently after his retirement. She attended Paramount Terrace Christian Church until she moved to Richardson to be cared for by her daughter, Beverly Carter. The joy of life she had in these later years was an inspiration to all that knew her. Even though her mind was fading, she still could sing and remember the words to all of her favorite songs. She brought joy to all that knew her with her humor and unconditional love. We will miss you, Mom. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, in 1990. Mr. Cornman was born April 17, 1928, to Eden E. and Elinor Emma Cornman in Tarrtown, Pa. He married Ruth Smeltzer on Sept. 12, 1951, and was an Army veteran. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Black was born Nov. 4, 1925, in Fletcher, Okla., to Horace and Ora Black. He married the former LaVerne McMinn on June 18, 1946, in First Baptist Church. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 18 of this year. The couple previously resided in Lubbock and Pottsboro. They have lived in Amarillo for seven years. Mr. Black is retired from mobile homes sales and was a lifetime member of the Lions Crippled Children's Camp. The couple attend South Georgia Baptist Church and belong to Sonshiner Club. Survivors include his wife, La Verne; two children, Chuck Black of Amarillo and Sandi Lawson and husband Steve of Harker Heights; and a brother, Bill Black of Ben Wheeler. Georgia St. Sister Mary Soledad Briones Bonnell was born Nov. 25, 1950, to Gregory Atenza and Monica Briones Bonnell in Sariaya, Quezon, Phillipines. She entered St. Benedict Monastery in Canyon on Oct. 4, 2002, taking the name of Sister Assumpta and made her final profession Oct. 9, 2006. Before entering religious life, while still in the Phillipines and later in the United States, Soledad worked as an educator, counselor and a nurse, earning a Master of Arts degree in education, a Master of Arts in theology, a Master of Science in guidance counseling and an Associate Degree in nursing. Survivors include a sister, Theodula Aitenza-Masilang of the Phillipines; her mentor, Mother Rose Teresa OCD; her Benedictine family; her nephew, James E. Bonnell of Albuquerque, N.M.; and many friends, nieces and nephews. Georgia St. Bus Burnes was born in Topeka, Kan., where he went to work for the former Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway from 1938 to 1984. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1946. He married the former Dorothy McCarthy of Atchison, Kan., on Nov. 3, 1951. She passed away on Oct. 5, 2002. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and Amarillo Country Club, where he was an avid golfer. Baucum Surratt and Duke C. Surratt. She moved to Oklahoma a few years later in a covered wagon and she always said it was a bumpy ride. Mrs. Grahs was a graduate of Altus High School and received a bachelor of science degree at Southwestern State College in 1939. She taught school a short while in Alva, Okla., then dedicated herself to her family. She married Harry A. Grahs Sr. on Aug. 8, 1937. They lived in Altus, Platora, Colo., and Albuquerque, N.M., before making Amarillo their home in 1960. Mrs. Grahs was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and the Caring Christians Sunday school class, as well as UMW and garden club. She was the best Mom and Grandma to her family, always showing her great love for us all. She will be missed more than words can express. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three brothers. Survivors include two sons, Al and wife Sharon of Amarillo and Jim and wife Lexia of Red Rock; two granddaughters, Krista Grahs and Jennifer Poisel and husband Gary, all of Amarillo; and four great-grandchildren, Marissa and J.J. Hughes St. Charlie was born March 15, 1926, in San Marcos to Willie and Viola Wheeler. He lived in Colorado City, where he was a Church of Christ member. He served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the ship that tested the atomic bomb at Bikini Beach. At one time, he was self-employed as a service station operator. He moved to Amarillo in 1990. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, in 1990. Survivors include a son, Charles R. She married Robert Mauck on July 17, 1940, in Hall County. She was a lifetime resident of Memphis and Hall County. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Memphis. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers; a sister; and a son-in-law. She grew up in Memphis and graduated from Memphis High School in 1940. She attended Texas Woman's College in Denton for a year and married D.S. Johnson on June 9, 1946, in Memphis. He preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 1977. She worked at the ASCS office in Memphis for seven years and also worked in various offices at the county courthouse. She enjoyed people very much, especially while working at the Thriftway grocery store. She was in Club 51 and was an active member of First Baptist Church. Mrs. Johnson loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Hubert Jones and Chuck Jones. "M.T." King DUMAS - Marvin T. "M.T." King, 80, of Dumas, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006. Burial will be in North Lawn Memorial Gardens with military rites by VFW Post 224. M.T. King was born in Indian Territory, Okla., on May 20, 1926, to Marvin Ellis and Theresa Ann Henry King. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 and proudly served in World War II on the deck of the USS Henry A. Wiley DM-29. He married Edith Joe Beckett on June 16, 1947. They moved to Moore County in 1956, where they built the Crown Ranch in 1959. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Ellis King and Theresa Ann Henry King; his precious wife, Edith Joe King; a brother, Melvin Ellis King; a son, Kurt Maquay King; a granddaughter, Jamie Joe Evans Skalsky; and a nephew, Matt Allen King. He owned B & L Tank Trucks for 25 years, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Mrs. Koepke was born Nov. 5, 1939, in Limon, Colo., to Mildred L. Johnson Kontour and the late Frank T. Kontour. She grew up in Deer Trail, Colo., and graduated from Deer Trail High School in 1957. She married Daniel L. Koepke on Aug. 10, 1958, in Deer Trail. Mrs. Koepke worked as a real estate appraiser and a secretary in Deer Trail. She was also a lifeguard instructor. She was a former member of First Baptist Church in Deer Trail, where she was active in the Baptist missionary group. Mrs. Koepke was also a member of the Deer Trail Fire Auxiliary. Upon moving to Lakeview three years ago, she became a member of Memphis Church of Christ. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Sloan was born Aug. 25, 1951, in Pampa, and had been a lifelong resident of Pampa and Roberts County. He was a longtime ranch hand and cowboy. He was an honorary member of the Rodeo Cowboys Association. He was a former member of the Pampa Sheltered Workshop. He was a caregiver for his grandparents. He was a member of Troop 13 of the Boy Scouts of America. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leo and Thelma Paris and Fred and Stella Sloan; two uncles; and two cousins. Talley, 86, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ralph Chapman officiating and Dr. Jerry Golden and Dinzel Leonard assisting. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery by Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian. Mr. Talley was born May 13, 1920, in Brinkman, Okla., and grew up in Mangum, Okla., where he was an Eagle Scout. He was in the Army Air Corps for four years during World War II. He married Georgia Mae Little on Aug. 9, 1946, in Canadian. He served as a deacon at First Baptist Church for 47 years. He also served on the board of directors for Girlstown USA for many years. As past president of the Canadian Rotary Club, a Paul Harris Fellow and Chamber of Commerce secretary, he faithfully served his community. He established and was curator of the Pioneer Museum in Canadian. Mr. Talley was honored as "Man of the Year" in 1966 by the Chamber of Commerce. He maintained membership in the Confederate Air Force, American Legion and the NRA. He was an honorary alumnus of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis Flynn Talley and Jewel Foutch Talley; a sister, Gayle Turnbow; and a brother, Robert Talley.
