Terrell Ona F. Terrell, 99, of Amarillo died Friday, Oct. 20, 2006. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. today in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St., with Kevin Naillieux and Nita Bearden officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Terrell was born March 11, 1907, in Eastland County to John Hayden Harper and Catherine Caudle Harper. She attended high school in Breckenridge. Ona worked for AISD at Palo Duro High School cafeteria for 16 years, retiring in 1972. She worked part-time cleaning houses until she was 88 years old. She loved to cook, crochet and read. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, "Nannie" and friend. She was a member of a non-denominational Christian fellowship. She married Robert Lynn Beecher in 1926. They had one son, Perry Lynn Beecher. She married Leon Terrell in 1945. They had one daughter, Aloha Jeanne Terrell. She was preceded in death by five brothers; three sisters; both husbands; a granddaughter, Brenda Beecher, in 1967; and a son, Lynn, in 1986. Survivors include a daughter, Aloha Gitchell and husband James of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Otis Beecher and wife Elaine and Shelly Beecher, all of Georgia, and Kathy Gemellaro and husband Guy, Jim Gitchell and wife Lisa and Amonda Gitchell, all of Amarillo; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was a wonderful son who loved his parents and was a hardworking and caring person and a good dad. He was a former employee of the Santa Fe Railway. "Buddy" Smith and Lydia Ann Moore were married on March 13, 1938. They moved to Amarillo in 1953. Lydia was a loyal worker for Furr's Grocery Store for 36 years as a checker and was named "Checker of the Year" several years. She worked for United Grocery for 10 years and Thriftway Grocery for nine years. Lydia retired at the age of 83. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Frank Moore and Lana May Turner Moore; three brothers, Garland, Price and Jack Moore; a sister, Nadine Dunn; a daughter-in-law, Roxie Ann Powell Smith; and a great-grandson, Josh Wages. Survivors include her husband; a son, Frankie Smith of Wichita Falls; a daughter, Sharon Petricone and husband Fred of Denton; three granddaughters, Kelly Wages, Tracy Little and Kim Dill; six great-grandchildren, Jennifer Fullerton, Austin Little, Landon Little, Tanner Little, Madison Dill and Andi Dill; two great-great-grandchildren, Cameron and Caleb Fullerton; a brother- in-law, Hershel Smith; three sisters-in-law, Irene Hunt, Gladys Stewart and Lucille Shelton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Georgia St. Mr. Dean was born Aug. 28, 1923, in Lebanon, Okla., to Charlie and Sadie Dean. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Army Air Corps. After the war, he began working in the oil field and was employed for 39 years with Getty Oil Co. He was a good Christian man and served as a deacon in the Baptist church. He married Anna Bernice Combs on Feb. 8, 1941. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Dean. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Peggy Immel and Jemma Thomas, both of Amarillo; a son, Don Dean of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Jodi Williams and husband John, Brad Immel and wife Catherine and Sherilyn Immel, all of Amarillo, Butch Thomas and wife Karie of Spring and Jennifer Vail and husband Tom of the U.S. Air Force; and 10 great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers of Vega. Mrs. Brown was born Dec. 29, 1905, in Pankey to Albert James Horton and Lillie Henrietta Cleveland Horton. The family moved to Camp Springs in 1907. She lived there until she married Floyd Milton Brown on Sept. 19, 1930, in Vega. They made their home in Adrian. She moved from Adrian to Crestview Assisted Living in Amarillo in 1996. She attended West Texas State College in Canyon, North Texas Woman's College in Denton and the University of New Mexico at Las Vegas, N.M. Prior to her marriage, she taught school for six years. In 1925 at a revival meeting in Denton held by George W. Truitt, she made her profession of faith. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Adrian. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on April 22, 1978; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Maxine Brown, on May 27, 1998; three sisters; and seven brothers. She and her husband Willard Smith never had any children, but she would proudly tell everyone she had 16 granddaughters, and the Eta Alpha Sorority adopted her as their Grandma in 1995.
