Rosary will be said at 6 p.m. today in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Duran loved his morning walks, always stopping by his son's house for tea. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed being in the company of his family. In 1986 he moved to Amarillo from Big Spring to take care of his grandson, Ziv. He was a faithful member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church as well as a good provider for his family. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at VistaCare, GoodCare and Accolade. A special thank you to Tina at the Area Agency on Aging and Dr. Khaznadar and staff at Northwest Texas Wound Care. He was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers. She was born May 23, 1925, in Amarillo to Joe and Maggie Gray. They preceded her in death. Mrs. Noe was a lifelong resident of Amarillo. She was also a longtime member of Paramount Baptist Church. Betty had an intimate and personal relationship with her Lord and Savior and was an inspiration to all who knew her. Our gratitude to Hospice Care of the Southwest and the staff of the Cottages at Quail Creek for their care of our beloved mother. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the main sanctuary of Trinity Fellowship with John Love, pastor, officiating. Joe was born March 18, 1918, in Walder, the third of 14 siblings, with an identical twin brother. Joe had to work hard at an early age to help with the family finances and only completed a fourth-grade education. Joe spent much of his teen years as a sharecropper and a dump truck driver before volunteering for the Army. He entered World War II as a member of the elite 1st Special Service Force, "The Devil's Brigade," and joined his unit at Anzio, Italy. While on scout patrol, he came upon a German Panzer tank unit that opened fire with wooden bullets. As he attempted to escape enemy fire, he was struck in the right thigh and was pulled to safety by his patrol. He later received the Purple Heart. After the war, Joe married Anastasia Castillo in 1947. They lived in San Antonio for 12 years before moving to Wichita, Kan., Oklahoma City and finally to Amarillo in 1965. He worked for Dempster Industries for 29 years and Amarillo National Bank for 17 years. Joe dedicated his life to the Lord in 1980 and served as a deacon at Trinity Fellowship. Joe's humor and kindness was always graciously given to the hard- hearted stranger. He genuinely made you feel welcomed, loved and respected. Survivors include his wife, Ann; six sons, Joseph Daniel Lozano and wife Susan of Parker, David D. Lozano and wife Becky, Michael Lozano and wife Cathy and Mark Lozano, all of Amarillo, John Lozano and wife Jonica of Atlanta and James Lozano and wife Trina of Colleyville; 10 grandchildren, Karen, Jocelyn, Isaac, Jeremy, Michael, Natasha, Brooke, Brandon, Brittany and Bryson; a great- grandchild, Hunter Brooks Wood; and three stepgreat-grandchildren, Brice, Cameron and Lauren Potter. Hughes St. Sammie was born Dec. 2, 1932, to A.J. Nichols Sr. and Arquilla Williams Nichols. The family moved to Amarillo when Sammie was 3 years old. He attended Frederick Douglass Elementary School, Patten High School and graduated from Carver High School. He served three years in the U.S. Army. Sammie worked for Braniff Air Lines for 29 years, part of that time as a ticket agent. Survivors include his wife, Ruthie Nichols; a son, Clarence Reed and wife Celestine of Amarillo; a brother, A.J. She had lived in Amarillo since 1958. Claudia was an avid golfer and longtime member of Tascosa Country Club, where she was Ladies Club Champion in 1959. During her golf career she had three holes-in-one. Claudia loved playing bridge and blackjack. She was quite a character. She was a member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd A. Nunley, in 1988; a grandson, Jason Dalton, in 1989; and a daughter, Marion McCartt, in 2003. She married Elbert Stephens on Jan. 3, 1939, in Memphis. He preceded her in death in March 1969. She married Bill Bennett on Oct. 13, 1970, in Amarillo. Mrs. Broxson was born Dec. 21, 1912, in Centerpoint, Ark., to Nathan Levi and Sarah Norma Bedwell. She married L.A. Broxson on March 31, 1934. She lived in Gasoline, Quitaque and Cactus before moving to Sunray in 1951, where she and L.A. opened Broxson's Hardware and Furniture. Following L.A.'s death in 1956, she continued to operate the business with her son until her retirement. She was a member of Sunray Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir for many years. She was a member of the Sunray Senior Citizens and enjoyed dominoes and bowling. She was preceded in death by a son, Lewis Edwin Broxson; her husband, L.A. Broxson; a sister, Christine Grundy; and a brother, Lawrence Bedwell.
