Arrangements are by Worley Funeral Services of Grove. Mrs. Hackler was born April 12, 1945. She married Calvin "Hack" Hackler in 1976 in Oklahoma City. He was a truck driver for 55 years. He married LaDine McKinney in August 2002 in Amarillo. Mr. Sanders was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Shippee passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer on October 26. She was born April 13, 1925, in Dalhart to Elizabeth McClellan Higgs and Paul Browning "P.B." Higgs. She grew up in Hansford County. Moving to Amarillo from Gruver in 1939, she graduated from Amarillo High School in 1942 and from the University of Iowa in 1947 with a bachelor of music. She returned to Amarillo to teach piano and serve as a community volunteer, including secretary of the Amarillo Symphony Board. Upon marrying, she moved to Dallas, where she continued to support the arts, as well as historic preservation. Believing in a two-party political system, she was involved in early Republican politics, holding one of the first primaries in the state. After raising two children, she returned to her hometown of Amarillo in 1984. She spent much of her time traveling, but continued to be a supporter of cultural institutions and community organizations. She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and a devoted member of the Black Belt Bible Study group. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Rose Higgs Rogers; and a brother, Paul Browning Higgs Jr. Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Shippee Lambert of Amarillo; a son, Browning Shippee and wife Teresa of Dallas; and numerous extended family members of the L.S. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors. Mr. Moore was born May 15, 1913, in Morris County to Link and Janie Armstrong Moore. He married Mable Gilmore on Nov. 24, 1939, in McKinney. He had been a resident of Clarendon since 1941. He worked as a farmer and also worked at Clarendon College until his retirement. He was a member of St. Stephens Baptist Church in Clarendon. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on March 18, 1990; and a brother. Services will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Trinity Fellowship Church in Amarillo with John Love, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Holley Funeral Home of Canyon. Mrs. Davis was born Jan. 7, 1947, in Independence, Mo. She moved to California when she was a young girl. When Mom was in her 30s, she met one of her sisters, Betty Gammell, and moved from Ventura, Calif., to Hanford, Calif., to be closer to her. Mom met her wonderful husband, Billy Gene Davis, and they were happily married for 19 years until he passed away in April 2003. Mom survived a brain aneurism in July 2003, and God did a miraculous healing on her in four months. Mom then became ill in August 2004 and moved to Amarillo to be closer to her family and once again, God was a great healer. Mom loved to be around her family and friends. She was a member of a lot of groups online that kept her happy along with her family and friends. Her favorite groups were Stitch & Sew and the Brain Aneurism Support Group. Mom also really loved to sew and embroider special things for her family and friends. Mom rededicated her life to Christ in September 2006 and attended Trinity Fellowship Church, where she felt at peace and at home. She really enjoyed the music, people and especially Pastor Jimmy's sermons. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Virgil and Ida Austin; her husband; and a sister, Pat Lehmann. Survivors include two daughters, Angela Hutcheson and husband George of Amarillo and Jennifer C. Worley of San Antonio; five grandchildren, Melissa, Heather, Maggie, Brandi and Paul; and a great-grandchild on the way. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lois I. Blevins DUMAS - Lois I. Blevins, 80, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Dumas Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Steve Swanson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Blevins was born Oct. 1, 1926, in Hoxie, Kan., to Clifford F. Hartman and Ruth Sealock Hartman. On Jan. 29, 1948, she married Clarence W. Blevins in Turlock, Calif., and had been a Dumas resident for 30 years. In 1988, she was named Moore County Woman of the Year. She was a longtime member of the Friendship Extension Homemakers Club. Being an outstanding member since 1978, she participated in the Art Bazaar, Moore County Fair and School Auction Spring Luncheon. She also provided transportation to and from Amarillo for cancer patients, delivered Meals on Wheels and was a foster parent and loving mother to many children. She was a 30-year member of Dumas Church of the Nazarene and was actively involved with teaching adult Sunday school and the Young at Heart group. She was also president of Nazarene Missions International. Her hobbies included ceramics, sewing and gardening. In describing Mrs. Blevins, a friend once commented that she was the "kind of neighbor you love to live by." She was preceded in death by two brothers, Loyal and Clifford Hartman. Survivors include her husband; a son, Les W. Blevins and wife Sandra of Dumas; a daughter, Luetta M. Bentley of Amarillo; a granddaughter, Sona C. Blevins of Amarillo; a grandson, Darryl L. She worked for Taylor-Evans Farm Store until 1978, when she went to work for Littlejohn-Vaughn Insurance Co. and retired from Sadler-Vaughn-Chapman Insurance Co. after 20 years. Coulter St., in Amarillo. Mr. Morgan was born Dec. 25, 1932, in Clovis, N.M., to Marvin C. Morgan and Ruth Elizabeth Hatley Morgan. He married Betty Louise Shaw of Melrose, N.M., on Aug. 24, 1952. Mr. Morgan served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Bairoko and the USS Foss from 1950 to 1951 during the Korean War. He worked in law enforcement for 40 years, part of that time as chief of police of Friona, and as Parmer County sheriff. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, target practice, drinking coffee with his friends and working with his computer. Mr. Morgan was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Benjamin Robert Morgan. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo. Mr. Matthews was born June 21, 1923, in Paducah to Mansfield and Anetha Bell Selph Matthews. He gave up a football scholarship to join the U.S. Navy on July 9, 1942, at the age of 19. He served on the USS Pruitt and was honorably discharged on Dec. 24, 1945. He married Bettie Lou Hardee on Sept. 14, 1946, in Fort Worth. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in September. He worked for Crow Chevrolet parts department in Muleshoe until 1969 when they moved to Amarillo. He worked for Plains Chevrolet parts department for several years and then worked for Ray Jones Chevrolet parts department until his retirement in 1981. They moved to Duncan in 1991, where they were members of West Side Christian Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Walter Talmedge Matthews.
