"Pat" Baker Patsy J. "Pat" Baker, 66, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Llano Cemetery Mausoleum with the Rev. Dale Moreland officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery East by Cox- LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mrs. Baker was born March 11, 1940, in San Angelo, was raised there and graduated from San Angelo High School. She moved to Amarillo from Brownwood in 1997. She had worked at Henry D's Restaurant at United since 1999. She was a Baptist. The family wishes to express its deepest gratitude to all the staff at BSA Hospice and all of Patsy's co-workers and customers at Henry D's. A special thank-you to Dr. Guttenplan and staff. Burial will be in Memory Gardens. Mr. Atkins was born June 27, 1928, in Dickens. He married Lucille Adams in 1947 in Dickens. They moved to Amarillo in 1966 from Lubbock. He was a truck driver for more than 40 years before becoming the owner and operator of 4-Way store in Fourway from 1990 to 2001. Survivors include his wife, Lucille Atkins; three sons, James Atkins and wife Thresa of Amarillo, Larry Atkins and wife Carol of Tulsa, Okla., and Terry Atkins and wife Denise of Dumas; two daughters, Sue Robinson and husband Larry and Brenda Ivey, all of Amarillo; a sister, Delpha Day and husband Pete of Roanoke; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kendall D. Dunavant Kendall D. Dunavant, 68, formerly of Amarillo died on Friday, Nov. 17, 2006, in Bella Vista, Ark. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Paramount Terrace Christian Church with the Rev. Roy Wheeler and the Rev. Ron Kohler officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Ken was born on Feb. 20, 1938, in Floydada to Joseph and Carlene Dunavant. He grew up in Amarillo and graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1956. He married Sybil Baird in 1961 and they were married for 35 years. He served in the U.S. Army and the National Guard. After serving, he earned an associate degree from Amarillo College and a bachelor of science degree from West Texas State University. Ken worked for many years at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch. He recently retired after 27 years of working for Robert Madden, Inc., in a career he absolutely loved. He was a loving husband and father and known for his great smile. He was a long time member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church and attended Bella Vista Christian Church as long as his health permitted. He later married Carol Freeman. After retirement, they made their home in Bella Vista, Ark. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sybil; and his parents. Survivors include his wife, Carol; a son, Michael Dunavant and wife Connie of Amarillo; a daughter, Stacy Lee and husband John of Dallas; a sister, Dorris Evans and husband Roy of Amarillo; five grandchildren, John, Aaron and Emma Dunavant and Benjamin and Jessica Lee; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other family members. A special thanks to Sandra Reynolds, Carol's sister for her help in the final days. His first love was his Lord, followed by his family, golf, fishing and children, especially babies. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Chris Twing. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Jeff was born Nov. 10, 1977, in Amarillo, and was raised here. He attended Woflin Elementary school and Austin Middle School, and graduated from Tascosa High School in 1996. While at Tascosa, he was on the wrestling team. He was involved in Scouting since he was 9 years old, and attained the rank of Eagle Scout in 1996. He attended Amarillo College before joining the U.S. Navy. While in the Navy, he served on the USS Lake Champlain. He married Dorothy Davis on Oct. 18, 2003, in Amarillo. They moved from Amarillo to Charles Town, W.Va., in 2004. He was a network engineer for Caci International out of Washington, D.C., officing in the J. Edgar Hoover Building. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Charles Town; two sons, Bryndan Barclay and Joseph Barclay; his parents, Rick and Judi Barclay of Amarillo; a sister, Betsy Silva of Amarillo; a brother, Jon Barclay of Gulf Port, Miss.; and his grandparents, Everett and Astor Stevens of Amarillo. Gordon James Culwell was born Oct. 26, 1928, in Amarillo to Jimmie and Marjorie Gordon-Cumming Culwell. Gordon was a rancher, horseman, businessman, real-estate broker, shooter, gun enthusiast, gunsmith, boat racer, pilot, metal worker, carpenter, historian and avid reader. A member of the Westerner Historical Society, Mr. Culwell was an instrument-rated pilot and had owned Panhandle Outdoor Sign Company and a sports equipment store. A native of the Texas Panhandle, he grew up in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High in 1946. He then attended Amarillo College and the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he received his engineering degree. In the early '70s he purchased a ranch west of Channing. He married Margaret Sams on Aug. 17, 1974, in Dalhart. Survivors include his wife of 32 years; two sons, Michael Culwell of Amarillo and J. Paul Womack of Florida; and a grandson, Chris Culwell of Oklahoma. Henderson CANADIAN - Miles P. Henderson, 24, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, near Balad, Iraq. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday in First Christian Church with Matt Cook officiating. Arrangements are by Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian. Miles was born Jan. 28, 1982, in Amarillo to Mr. Brad and Terry Henderson. He was a 2000 graduate of Canadian High School. Miles then attended Western State College in Gunnison, Colo. His attendance there lasted until his ski lift ticket expired. From the summer of 1997 until he joined the Army, Miles worked for Amarillo Artificial Limb and Brace, employed by two terrific friends, Chad Mason and Don Marks. Along with their families, they loved and mentored Miles during his employment with them. From there Miles enlisted in the U.S. Army in May of 2003. Miles flew an AH-64 D Apache Longbow with the 82nd Airborne. He served in the Wolf Pack Squadron in the current war with Iraq. Miles married Artis Chester on July 1, 2006, in Fort Meyers Beach, Fla. Anyone who knew Miles, knew he loved the Lord with all his heart. He was baptized March 1, 1992, in Midland, Mich. Thus, it is no surprise he was an active member of First Christian Church. Miles was preceded in death by his grandfather, Howard Gerken. Survivors include his wife, Artis Henderson of Fort Meyers Beach; his parents, Brad and Terry Henderson of Canadian; a sister, Deadre Henderson of the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va.; his paternal grandparents, Glenn and Virginia Henderson of Amarillo; his maternal grandmother, Bessie Gerken of Canadian; and his great-grandmother, Bertie Whitaker of Amarillo. He will be missed by five very close friends, Jared Hohertz, Eric Hall, George Peyton, Derek Maupin and occasional younger substitute, Dillon Hohertz. Miles is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and additional friends who loved him very much.
