He married Imogene Carroll on Aug. 4, 1940, in Ballinger. He was a farmer and a former Gruver city councilman. He attended First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Clint Williams, in 2006. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in First Christian Church with Larry Haddock, minister, officiating. Private burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Mrs. Brantley was born in 1918 in Okmulgee, Okla., to John Alexander Edmiston and Mina Largent Edmiston. The family moved to Fort Worth when she was 3 months old. She was raised in Fort Worth and moved to Wellington in 1936, where she met and married Heber Julian Brantley in 1938. She was employed at the ASCS office, First National Bank and the Wellington Independent School District, where she retired as its tax collector. She was also a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club and Texas Retired Teachers Association and was active in the Democratic Party. Though Fort Worth was her birth place, Wellington was her heart. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, who was always supportive, caring and generous to all she came in contact with. For her, loyalty to family and friends was of the utmost importance. Her words of encouragement were always welcome, and her favorite saying was to be the best you can be, and you will always receive blessings. Her dedication to quality and excellence garnered her many blessings, and she always lived life with an exemplary will and determination to achieve. A special thanks to the Shephard Crook Home Health Care, the staff of the Arbors and BSA Hospice. She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, John Allen Edmiston; and a sister, Leigh Thompson. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Leigh Brantley Elbert of Canyon; three grandchildren, Randy Elbert and wife Rachel and Kurt Elbert and wife Leanna, all of Lubbock, and Shelli Estes and husband Stan of Haslet; and six great- grandchildren, all of whom she was exceptionally proud of. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Amarillo Margie Edna Dearing Springstube Margie Edna Dearing Springstube, 93, of Amarillo died Friday, Nov. 17, 2006. A celebration of Margie's life will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Paramount Baptist Church with the Rev. F.M. Byford officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Springstube, lovingly known as Mema, 93, of Amarillo, born July 8, 1913, died Nov. 17, 2006. Margie married Marion Allen Springstube on Feb. 7, 1931, in Hobart, Okla. They moved to Amarillo in 1942, where they made their home together until Marion's death in 1965. Over more than 20 years, they cared for numerous foster children. Margie also lovingly cared for many other children, both in her home and at Paramount Baptist Church Preschool, until the age of 91. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great- grandmother and friend to many. The Springstube home on Winchester, which Marion built for his family in 1951, was always a gathering point for family and friends who met there for church youth group meetings, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners and countless evenings spent enjoying the best pinto beans, fried chicken, peach cobblers and chocolate pies available anywhere. Margie expressed her love through her baking and the handmade quilts she shared with her family and friends. All of her grandchildren have a Mema original quilt, stuffed animal, embroidered pillow and wall hangings, as well as Christmas stockings. Mema has inspired many of her daughters and grandchildren to carry on these disappearing arts. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same; but as God calls us one by one the chain will link again. Mema's grace, beauty and kindness will be greatly missed by all, but we are comforted by the fact that we will see her again in heaven and that she's with her loved ones who went before her. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Wanda Springstube Adams in 1998; her parents; three brothers; and a sister. Survivors include four daughters, Beth Shelton and husband Carroll of New Braunfels and Marcia Miller, Linda Gleghorn and husband Charles, and Sherri Braddock and husband Roy, all of Amarillo; a son-in-law, D.O. Mrs. Thweatt was born July 12, 1936, in Simpsonville to Jerry and Maggie Maloney Dean. She was raised in Simpsonville and was valedictorian of the Union Hill High School Class of 1953. She worked at Wyeth Laboratories in Dallas, where she met Harry Thweatt. They married in Gilmer on Nov. 7, 1959. With their children they lived in Dallas, Denver and Medina, Ohio. They returned to Texas, living in Fairview, where Jerri worked at the Farm Bureau in McKinney and at Fry Wholesale Lumber Co. in Garland. After she retired, she lived in Oakwood and Canyon. While she worked outside the home, she was primarily a homemaker creating a warm and loving environment for family and friends. Jerri was a member of University Church of Christ of Canyon, Texas and Ladies Bible Class, Red Hat Club and the Extension Education Club. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Gerald Raymond Dean; and a sister, Ella Mae Dean Harris. Survivors include her husband, Harry of Canyon; two sons, Gary Thweatt of Plano and Ronald and Romaine Thweatt of Sturtevant, Wis.; a daughter, Laura Hamilton of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Jillian and Caroline Hamilton and Christopher and Carson Thweatt; three brothers, John Edward Dean and wife Mary Jo, Everett Dean and wife Jo and Bill Dean and wife Virginia, all of Gilmer; three sisters, Winnie Kennedy of Gladewater, Rose Thacker of Gilmer and Margie Mangum of McKinney; and numerous nieces, nephews and additional friends also survive Jerrianne. Loretta crocheted beautiful afghans. She was an avid reader and Bible student. She had an extremely positive attitude and persevered throughout her life despite her disabilities.
