Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. today in Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, with Charlie Cox officiating. Mr. Adkins was born Nov. 16, 1934, in Haskell, and was raised there. He married his wife, Glenda, on Sept. 27, 1957, in Plainview. He farmed in Friona for 20 years before moving to Amarillo in 1986. He loved farming, riding motorcycles, playing race games and dominoes on the computer, and loved being Papa to his grandchildren. He had a caring heart, and was very compassionate. He touched the lives of all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife, Glenda of Amarillo; two sons, Glenn Adkins and wife Penny of Albuquerque, N.M., and Dan Adkins and wife Kelli of Amarillo; two daughters, Samme Mondini and husband Steve and Vicki Cortez and husband Dominic, all of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Warren C. He served in U.S. Army, was awarded the Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal and served in the American theater. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1950. He worked for Paul Mueller Co. as a dairy equipment salesman for a number of years. He also worked for Pratt Engineers in Houston. Mr. Warren married Mary Jo Benavides on Dec. 20, 1948, in Brownsville. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Ronald K. Jones, Harold R. Jones, Milton R. Jones and Maynard E. Jones; and a sister, Hazel M. Jones. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo Jones; a son, David Jones and wife Karen of Lubbock; three daughters, Nora J. Coulter St. Mr. Hartsfield was born May 16, 1929, in Colorado City, and worked there as a ranch hand. He married Lovie Bolin in 1951. Bill joined the U.S. Army in 1952 and served in the Korean War. After his military service, he worked as a butcher and owned his own grocery stores in Amarillo and Hereford. In 1970 he opened Bills Extermination in Amarillo, and from 1984 to 1990, he owned and operated Bills Pest and Termite Control in Perryton. After leaving the pest control business, Mr. Hartsfield went back to the ranch industry until 2002. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marsha Ann Hartsfield, in 1960. Survivors include three sons, Eddie Hartsfield and wife Carol of Amarillo, Don Hartsfield and wife Cindy of Canadian and Hunter Hartsfield and wife Tammy of Perryton; a daughter, Kathy Skinner and husband Walt of Amarillo; a sister, Marie Carter of Austin; a brother, Johnny Hartsfield of Round Rock; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was a resident of Hedley before moving to Lefors in 1955. He had worked as a carpenter and as the custodian at the Lefors schools for much of his life prior to his retirement. He married the former Thelma Saunders on Aug. 22, 1996, in Lefors. He was a member of Community Fellowship Church in Clarendon. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 59 years, Beatrice; his parents; two brothers; a sister; and a grandson, O.C. Akines. Survivors include his wife, Thelma; three daughters, June Thacker and Beneva Adams, both of Pampa, and Marie Skaggs of Memphis; a son, James E. Loma was born in 1906 in Granbury, the daughter of Callie Parker Groom and the Rev. M.S. Groom, who was for 80 years a Baptist minister in Texas. Education was a guiding principle throughout her life. She graduated from Central High School in Fort Worth, held a bachelor of science degree from West Texas A&M University in Canyon, a master of music degree from North Texas University in Denton and a master of librarianship from the University of Washington in Seattle. For more than 50 years of her life she was an educator, in both Texas and California, as a teacher, principal, supervisor, librarian and music department director. Her work included 28 years of teaching in the Texas Panhandle, seven years in Pampa public schools, seven years as the first head of the vocal music department of Borger High School, and 14 years as the first head of the music department of Frank Phillips College. After her move to California, she was librarian in secondary schools for 15 years. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Altrusa Club, A.A.U.W., Texas Retired Teachers Association, president of Community Concert Association, president of the Bel Air Chapter of Forest Home Auxiliary and a member of the Los Angeles World Affairs Council. After living in Simi Valley, Calif., for 25 years, Loma returned to live her retirement years in Amarillo, Fort Worth and Plano.
