Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Putman married Hugh Putman in Sherman in 1939. He passed away in 1999. Mrs. Putman had lived in the Amarillo area since 1949. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Borger. She was also preceded in death by two great-grandchildren, Tristan King, in 2001 and Kenzington Sams, in 2003. Survivors include a son, Stanley Putman of Amarillo; a daughter, Judy Sams of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Church of Christ at the Colonies. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Wilson was born Mildred Lorene Wisdom on Sept. 5, 1914, in Willow Springs to Charles and Lillie May Wisdom. Mildred married J. Paul Wilson in Sherman in 1934. They had four children, Paula, Noel, Betty and Charlotte. They moved to Amarillo in 1955, where Mildred had been a member of East Amarillo Church of Christ. Mildred worked for the downtown Levines store for 12 years. She was a homemaker and helped run her husband's trucking business. Mildred said her greatest accomplishment in life were her four children. To raise children who grew to be respected and loved by others is the mark of a wonderful mother, and that is what she was. Mildred was a Christian woman above all else and instilled those same values in her children. Although she will be greatly missed, her family is rejoicing that Mildred at 92 years young has gone to claim her glory, with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We love you mama. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1981; and a son, Noel Wilson, in 1986. Mr. Wyble served three years in the U.S. Navy as a hurricane hunter. He then worked in the electronics field and finally retired from the medical field as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. Mrs. Langwell died peacefully in her sleep and went to be with her Lord. She was born May 15, 1921, in Ladonia to Clyde Charlie Jones and Edith Clara Robardey Jones. She was a Christian. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vaughnie B. Langwell; a sister, Mina Atherton; a brother, Clyde R. Jones; a grandson, Andrew D. Bell St. Mrs. Scott was born in Morton, Wash., and had been a resident of Amarillo since 1966. She served with the U.S. Coast Guard Women's Reserve during World War II. Mrs. Scott had received her associate degree in nursing from Amarillo College and had worked as a registered nurse for High Plains Baptist Hospital, retiring in 1987. She was an avid reader and enjoyed quilting. She married Charles Scott in 1948 in Seattle. He married Retha Little on Aug. 25, 1949, in Lefors. He was a member of Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ and the Top O' Texas Masonic Lodge No. 1381. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Born Dec. 23, 1917, Mr. Steiert was a lifelong resident of Castro County and a member of a pioneer Castro County farming and ranching family. He was a World War II veteran, advancing to the rank of sergeant in the U.S. Army. Overseas for 30 months, he served in the Asiatic/Pacific Theater with the 718th Amphibious Tractor Battalion. He participated in combat action in campaigns in New Caledonia, New Hebrides, the Marianas Islands, the Philippines and the Riukiu Island chain off Japan, including the landing on Okinawa. He married Earlene Goodman on March 26, 1946, in Nazareth. She preceded him in death in 2004. He was a longtime farmer in the Hart area and also worked for Hill Farms for many years in potato, carrot and onion production and harvesting. He helped to establish St. John's Catholic Church in Hart and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Nazareth and the Catholic Foresters. He was a member of the American Legion Post 528 in Nazareth. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters. "Duff" Hatcher Jr., 84, formerly of Amarillo, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2006. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Trinity United Methodist Church in Amarillo with the Rev. Scott Richards officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St., in Amarillo. Mr. Hatcher was born Jan. 7, 1922, in Sapulpa, Okla., and passed away on Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, at his home in Boerne. He was a quiet, kind and gentle man who left a lasting impression on all he touched. He was a loving husband, nurturing father of three and grandfather of six. Duff moved to Amarillo when he was 5 years old, where his father started Hatcher and Sons Plaining Mill and where Duff first found his love of working with wood. He attended Texas A&M and went on to serve his country in the Navy during World War II. When he returned from the war, he worked at the plaining mill his father started. In 1952, John N. Maynard asked Duff to join his company, Maynard Sash and Door, which became Maywood, Inc. He was the vice president of operations and during his 35 years with Maywood, he designed machines that help make the products faster and safer. Some of these machines are still used in wood manufacturing plants today. Duff also designed some of the products produced by Maywood. All of the employees of Maywood were held in high regard by him. His presence in this world will surely be missed but he will forever remain in our hearts. Survivors include his best friend, soul mate and wife of 60 years, Dorothy; a son, Russell and wife Shelly; two daughters, Teresa and husband Bill and Tracey and husband Donny; six grandchildren, Russ, Blair, Patrick, Lauren, Hayden and Timber; a brother, Victor Hatcher; a sister, Virginia Hatcher Ford; and countless lifelong friends. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jerry W. McCown LAKE O.H. IVIE - Jerry W. McCown, 62, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with the Rev. Joe Chamness, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Ballinger, officiating. Burial will be in Andrews West Cemetery. Mr. McCown was born Dec. 9, 1943, in Winters to Weldon Bradley McCown Sr. and Reba Silas Richards McCown. He attended Andrews schools and served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. He married Linda Ann Morrison on Dec. 2, 1966, in Odessa. He moved to Amarillo in 1975. He worked for Teamsters Local 577 in Amarillo for 32 years, serving as president and business manager for 20 years. He also served as an international representative for Teamsters. He moved to Lake O.H. Ivie in 1998. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Ballinger. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, a Master Mason, a member of H.A. McFarland Masonic Lodge in Odessa and had served as trustee of Southern States Retirement Board. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Weldon "Gus" McCown.
