Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Llano East Cemetery with David Woodall officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Cale was born Oct. 18, 1937, in Pawnee, Okla., to Mary and Charles G. Shunatona. She earned her BS in education in 1959, and enjoyed more than 30 years of teaching, spending more than 20 years instructing the children of Amarillo in art and other studies. Mrs. Cale was also a noted Native American lecturer and performer. Her efforts resulted in the celebration of Native American Community Week, a local event that lasted for many years. Along with her husband, David Wm. Cale, Jen was a founding member of N.A.B.C.A.P.S. and served as that organization's chronicler. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and would also spend hours clipping funny stories and cartoons from the Amarillo Globe-News to mail to her many friends and family members, usually augmented with her personal observations and jokes. Survivors include her husband, regional artist David Wm. Cale of Amarillo; two daughters, Kateri Cale of Dallas and Jen Renee Cale of Amarillo; a son, Charles Cale of Austin; a sister, Gwen A. Shunatona of Mayetta, Kan.; and three grandsons, Travis, Cale and Bennett. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Holley Funeral Home Chapel in Canyon with the Rev. Debra Huffman, minister of First Christian Church of Canyon, officiating. Mr. Johnigan was born in Tulia to J.C. Johnigan and Nell Pearson Johnigan. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the Marine Corps, where he achieved the rank of corporal and received the good conduct and sharpshooter's medals. He was a farmer and rancher in the Canyon area working his later years as ranch foreman for the Lindsey Land and Cattle Co. The last three years he lived in the VA nursing home in Amarillo. Finney Ernest R. Finney, 85, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006. Celebration of life services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Jim Bankhead officiating. Private graveside services will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Finney was born Dec. 18, 1920, in Fort Worth to Wiley and Flossie Finney. Mr. Finney grew up in Fort Worth, graduated from Carter Riverside High School in 1938 and attended Texas A&M University. After obtaining his bachelor's degree from Texas Christian University, he went on to Cumberland University in Tennessee, graduating with his degree in law in 1943. Mr. Finney served in the U.S. Navy in the Judge Advocates Office from 1943 to 1946. He began his law practice in Amarillo in 1948, and practiced law in Amarillo for more than 40 years. He was a member of the State Bar of Texas and a sustaining life fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. He was past president of the Amarillo Bar Association. He served as a member of the board of trustees of the Texas Tech Law School Foundation. Mr. Finney was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Amarillo, where he also served as elder. He was also a past president of the Amarillo Country Club. Mr. Finney married Clarice "Kitty" Afdahl on Nov. 27, 1943, in Denton. Ernest and Kitty had just celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. Ernest was loved by his family and friends, and will always be remembered for his love of life and family, his gracious and sensitive spirit and his quick wit. She worked most of her life as a secretary and receptionist and retired from the New York Dioceses. Mr. and Mrs. Mettham retired to Florida from New York and then to Amarillo in 1987 to be closer to family. She enjoyed swimming and golfing and loved to dance. She graduated from Stinnett High School in 1946. While working at Zale's Jewelry in Borger, Billie met Jimmy N. Richmond, whom she married in 1948. Mrs. Richmond was a devoted wife who raised four children and enjoyed taking part in their lives by being room mother, Cub Scout den mother, Sunday school and Vacation Bible School teacher and taxi driver for piano lessons, soccer, bowling, baseball, speech therapy, Girl Scouts and the Friday night movies. She was well-known for large family gatherings in her home by the swimming pool, Christmas tree and dinner table. Billie loved staying at her Galveston beach home, where she enjoyed beachcombing and fishing on the bay. She was a member of the Amarillo chapter of the DAR and Colonial Dames and a member of First Methodist Church in Richardson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Bea Turner of Stinnett; and her husband, Jimmy N. Richmond. Survivors include two sons, Neal Richmond of Dallas and J.
