Berman Karoline J. Berman, 64, of Amarillo died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Llano Cemetery with Glen Walton of Bell Avenue Church of Christ officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Berman was born Aug. 5, 1942, in New York City to August and Karoline Kupfer. She had been a resident of Amarillo since 1981. She was a licensed vocational nurse for more than 20 years. Survivors include three daughters, Lori Burch and husband Alan, Donna Johnson and husband Vernell and Carolyn Dugger and husband Johnie, all of Amarillo; a son, B.J. Berman and wife Stephanie of Amarillo; a brother, Ralph Kupfer and wife Janet of Lakeway; a nephew, James Kupfer and wife Amy of Austin; and five grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dolores Ann Crawford Dolores Ann Crawford, 78, of Amarillo died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006. Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Crawford was born Aug. 15, 1928, in Davenport, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Crawford, and a son, Dwight Adams. Survivors include a daughter, Dwanna Adams; a sister, Diana Carlile of Amarillo; and her lifelong friend, Phyllis Guthrie. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- J. Wayne Gatlin J. Wayne Gatlin, 95, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery with Dick Marcear, minister of The Church of Christ at the Colonies, officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Gatlin was born on a farm near Carlton. He graduated from Memphis High School in 1928 and moved to Amarillo in 1932. He operated a service station for more than 40 years. He was a member of Ross Rogers Golf Course and was president of Municipal Golfers Association for many years. Mr. Gatlin had been a member of Central Church of Christ for many years and more recently was a member of The Church of Christ at the Colonies. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Gatlin, who is the mother of his four children, and a daughter, Lavonda Bill. Survivors include his wife, Joyce, whom he married in 1993; two sons, Martin D. Gatlin and wife Mary Ann of Amarillo and Barry Gatlin and wife Tanya of Rockport; a daughter, Janice Reeves of Lubbock; eight grandchildren, 11 great- grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with David Bristol officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Ham was born March 18, 1932, in Dumas to John D. and Mary Ollie Richards. She had worked as a supervisor at Levi Strauss. Mrs. Ham was a member of the Gideons for seven years. She loved bluegrass music. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Survivors include her husband, William H. Ham; a daughter, Kay McKnight and husband Bill of Amarillo; a son, Lloyd Wilson and wife Louella of Seguin; two stepsons, W.H. Ham Jr. and wife Janet and Eddie Hamilton and wife Nancy, all of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Lynn Anthony and husband Ricky of Amarillo; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing from noon to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Burndene Kendrick Burndene Kendrick, 91, of Amarillo died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church in Artesia, N.M., with the Rev. Rick Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia. Local arrangements are by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mrs. Kendrick was born Feb. 9, 1915, in Marvel, Ala., to Newt and Maud Harper. She married Watson Kendrick on March 6, 1937, in Columbiana, Ala. He passed away on Dec. 9, 2002. They moved to Artesia in 1952 from Wattis, Utah, and she moved to Amarillo in 2005. She lived in Artesia for more than 50 years. She was a homemaker and was famous for her good southern cooking - chicken and dumplings, coconut cake and wonderful pies just to name a few. She was a talented seamstress with a blue ribbon to prove it. She crocheted many afghans that her family will treasure for many years as they will the many oil paintings she completed. She was a Baptist. She was loyal to her church and taught Sunday school for many years. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Durwood Harper and Grant Harper. Survivors include a son, Tom Kendrick and wife Julia of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Tara Dustin and husband Ross of Pittsburg, Calif., and Royce Kendrick of Amarillo; a great-granddaughter, Amy Dustin of Pittsburg; a brother, Maxwell Harper and wife Jeanette; and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. James L. Collins, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Warford-Walker Mortuary, 509 N. Hughes St. Mrs. Harmon was born Sept. 17, 1923, in Ravenna to the late William Henry Davis and Willie Mae Davis. She graduated from Dunbar School in Shawnee, Okla., and attended Wiley College in Marshall. During World War II, she worked for Kaiser Shipyard in Richmond, Calif., and the Fort Worth Lighthouse for the Blind. She trained as a masseuse and worked for the Baker Hotel in Mineral Wells, Holiday Inn Spa in Corpus Christi, Holiday Health Spa in Amarillo and later the YWCO as a masseuse. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church for 39 years. She served as president of the National Federation of the Blind of Texas, Amarillo Chapter 1973 until her demise. She was a member of the State of Texas Braille Textbook Committee for three years. Survivors include her loving husband, William Lee Harmon Sr.; a son, William Lee Harmon Jr. and wife Shelly of Las Vegas; two daughters, Marva Y. Holman and husband Robert of Cedar Hills and Beverly Jo Lax of Amarillo; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area Mary L. "Nane" Hall SUNRAY - Mary L. "Nane" Hall, 95, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006, in Dumas. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Sunray Baptist Church with the Rev. Philip Hilton, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lane Memorial Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Hall was born April 4, 1911, in Kennett, Mo. On Oct. 24, 1930, in Tierra Amarilla, N.M., she married J.A. "Peete" Hall, who preceded her in death on July 30, 1998. "Nane" was a homemaker and had been a resident of Sunray since the 1930s. She was a member of Sunray Baptist Church. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Huff was born Feb. 7, 1911, in Stonewall County to Frank and Arshno Hale. She married Marvin Ernest "Pike" Huff on Sept. 14, 1926, in Clairemont. Audry and Pike came from Kent County to Roberts County in 1929 to the Emmett Lefors Ranch, where five of their children were born. They moved from Roberts County to Gray County in 1947. Mr. Huff preceded her in death in 1966. Audry was a member of Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ and the Home Demonstration Club and was a volunteer with the Coronado Hospital Auxiliary. She was also preceded in death by a son, Marvin Dean Huff, in 1939; two daughters, Mary Ellen Moore, in 1999 and Moleta Clark, in 2005; and five grandchildren, Robert Allen Smith, Walter Dean Ponds, Douglas Banister, Pike Smith and Joe Marvin Mitchell. Mrs. Brockman was born Oct. 2, 1947, in Canyon. She married Art Brockman on Nov. 24, 1990, in Nazareth. Janette was a homemaker and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She loved to cross stitch blankets for her nieces and nephews. Survivors include her husband; her parents, Dennis and Marcella Brandt of Umbarger; and four brothers, Gerald Brandt, Tommy Brandt, and David Brandt, all of Amarillo, and Louis Brandt of Umbarger. The body will be available for viewing at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dr. Buell T. Wells PAMPA - Dr. Buell T. Wells, 95, formerly of McLean, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church of McLean with the Rev. Norman Rushing and the Rev. Rick Parnell of Central Baptist Church of Pampa officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean by Bailey- Ware Funeral Home of McLean. Dr. Wells was born Aug. 31, 1911, in Russellville, Ky., to Charles W. Wells and Addie Lyon Wells. He married Margaret Talley in February 1934. She preceded him in death after 43 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his son, Morris Wells, his half brother; and three half sisters. Buell was called to preach when he was 15 years old. He served many churches and at one time, he had five small churches at one time. He was a school teacher and pastor and worked for the Home Mission Board for many years. He came to Amarillo in 1949 to have a school of missions in Amarillo and Borger. While he was here, McLean called him to be their pastor. He served in McLean for seven years from 1950-1957. Then he went to Fort Worth as pastor of the B.H. Carroll Church. Later, he was the pastor of First Southern Baptist Church in Hammond, Ind. Buell had the honor of being called as pastor of his home church in Russellville. Buell also served two terms on the board of directors of the Golden Gate Seminary in San Francisco. Buell served many churches in Tennessee, Kentucky, Texas and Indiana and served on the Illinois Baptist Convention. He served two times in McLean for a total of 15 1/2 years. In 1995, he married Joann Miller Murray. Survivors include his wife, Joann; a daughter, Lequita Cowherd of Shelbyville, Ky.; a daughter-in-law, June Wells of Broken Arrow, Okla.; three grandsons; a granddaughter; 14 great-grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; three stepchildren, Dana Miller, Diane Baggerman and Delynn Weller; and four great- great-grandchildren.
