Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Morrison Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bob Ulrey, pastor of First Baptist Church of Cactus, officiating. Burial will follow in Dumas Cemetery. Catherine was born Oct. 12, 1914, in Hamilton County. She married Bert Coffin on May 9, 1937, in Ranger. He preceded her in death on July 4, 1981. She was a homemaker and had been a resident of Dumas since 1988. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Odessa. Survivors include a daughter, Judy Slaton and husband Bill of Pagosa Springs, Colo.; five grandchildren, Kim, Kathy, Mike, Amy and Angie; eight great- grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and special friends John and Rena Scroggins of Dumas. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Myrna McVey in May 2006. The family suggests memorials be to Moore County Senior Center, Inc., P.O. Box 2114, Dumas, TX 79029. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- French McGavock HAPPY - French McGavock, 94, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006, in Amarillo. Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Church of Christ in Happy. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia by Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Mr. McGavock was born Sept. 28, 1912, in Granite, Okla. His family moved to Silverton when he was a young child. He attended Lakeview Country School. He farmed for many years before going into the water well business. He then served as county commissioner of Precinct 1 for 20 years. He retired in 1992. He volunteered with the Food Bank in Amarillo and was a member of the Tulia Senior Citizens. He also worked with RSVP in Tulia. He was instrumental in the Swisher County museum, and was a long-time member of the Church of Christ in Happy. He married LeeNora Francis Vaughan on Dec. 1, 1942, in Levelland. He was preceded in death by three sisters; and four brothers. Survivors include his wife, Nora McGavock; two daughters, Cindy Starkey of Graham and Peggy Carter of Tulia,; a son, Dave McGavock of Happy; two brothers, Oscar McGavock and J.D. McGavock of Silverton; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lewis Delano MaGouirk CHILDRESS - Lewis Delano MaGouirk, 66, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006, in Wellington. Mr. MaGouirk was born Sept. 8, 1940, in Childress to B.F. and Josephine MaGouirk. He was employed at the Roach Unit until his retirement in 2001. Survivors include three daughters, Sharah MaGouirk Bowen of Wellington, Delana MaGouirk Caswell of Corona, Calif., and Terri MaGouirk Calhoun of Paradise, Calif.; a son, Louis MaGouirk of Childress; two brothers, Allan MaGouirk of Childress and Bill MaGouirk of Houston; three sisters, Nila Smith of Amarillo, Gail Rambo of Lewisville and Jean Winius of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and eight grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Amarillo J. Wayne Gatlin J. Wayne Gatlin, 95, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery with Dick Marcear, minister of The Church of Christ at the Colonies, officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Gatlin was born on a farm near Carlton. He graduated from Memphis High School in 1928 and moved to Amarillo in 1932. He operated a service station for more than 40 years. He was a member of Ross Rogers Golf Course and was president of Municipal Golfers Association for many years. Mr. Gatlin had been a member of Central Church of Christ for many years and more recently was a member of The Church of Christ at the Colonies. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Gatlin, who is the mother of his four children, and a daughter, Lavonda Bill. Survivors include his wife, Joyce, whom he married in 1993; two sons, Martin D. Gatlin and wife Mary Ann of Amarillo and Barry Gatlin and wife Tanya of Rockport; a daughter, Janice Reeves of Lubbock; eight grandchildren, 11 great- grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1922 and attended Amarillo College. She was a member of First Baptist Church for 78 years. She married Cecil Ballard in 1940 in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband; and a son, Larry. E. "Smokey" Tidwell C. E. "Smokey" Tidwell, 53 of Amarillo, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006. Services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday in First Assembly of God with the Rev. He was a member of the Choctaw Nation and the owner of Tidwell Roofing. Smokey was a motorcycle enthusiast and he will be greatly missed. Smokey married Frances Sweeney on Aug. 18, 1978, in Amarillo. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Tidwell, in 2002. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Rachel Tidwell and Mary Alyce Tidwell, both of Amarillo; his mother, Charlene Tidwell of Amarillo; six sisters, Zandra Schooler, Anna Tidwell, Paula Morris and husband Joe, Cathy Ferguson and husband Kenneth, Stephanie Tidwell and Shannon Tidwell, all of Amarillo; three brothers, Paul Roger Tidwell, Anthony Tidwell and Max Tidwell and wife Angela, all of Amarillo; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Mike Williams and Raymond Bowlin officiating. Mr. Smith was born Jan. 18, 1934, in Floydada to Marvin and Sis Smith. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War. In 1952 he married Arita Willcox, who died in 1997. They had four children, Brenda Blakley, Clif Smith, Dirk Smith and Denise Holland. He had been a self-employed car dealer in Amarillo for years. He married Sylvia Smith in 1991. He was a member of Arden Road Christian Church, VFW, Khiva Shrine, Amarillo Masonic Lodge 731, and the Lubbock Scottish Rite. Survivors include his wife and parents; two brothers, Robert Smith and Tommy Smith; a sister, Judy Hollums; nine grandchildren; and a beloved dog, Millie. Mr. Campbell was born July 20, 1920, in Motley County, the son and grandson of a pioneer Motley County ranching family. He was a veteran of World War II, a former member of the VFW and American Legion and Matador Lions Club and served on the Matador City Council for several years.
