Mrs. Ayers was born Oct. 24, 1925, in Canadian. She married Flavil Ayers on Aug. 1, 1943, in Miami, Okla. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Haynes was born Aug. 31, 1932, in Mobeetie. He had been a resident of Pampa since 1950. He married Elnora Black on Jan. 26, 1956, in Pampa. He worked for Cabot Corp. as a warehouse supervisor, retiring in 1987 after 32 years of service. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving in the Korean conflict. He was a member of the VFW, Pampa Senior Citizens Center, Tri-State Senior Golf Association, West Texas & New Mexico Senior Golf Association and the Pampa Country Club. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed horse racing, working in his yard and spending time with his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Glenna Matheu; and a great- grandchild. Burial will be in Friona Cemetery by Blackwell Funeral Home. Mr. Johnston was born May 18, 1930, in Fort Worth to Manton DeWitt and Stella B. Hand Johnston. He married Mary C. Massey on July 6, 1951, in Fort Worth. He was a 1952 graduate of Baylor University. A Friona resident since 1962, he moved here from Fort Worth. He was employed 15 years with Continental Grain Co. in Fort Worth and then Friona. He then worked for Friona Industries at Black Grain for 17 years as an accountant. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Friona, a former Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church in Friona, he was a member of the choir of all the churches he attended, a former Little League coach, a member of Friona Evening Lions Club and was past president, founding member of Friona Senior meals and senior citizens, kept books for the annual stock show, honorary chapter farmer, board member of Friona United Way, former board member of Prairie Acres, former board member of Friona Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Friona museum board and was named Friona's Man of the Year in 1986. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Dorothy Louise Johnston, in 1944. In 1959, her family moved to Dumas where she graduated from Dumas High School in 1975. On Feb. 21, 1975, she married Joel Wayne Murray in Dumas. In 1982, she moved to Fritch and had been a resident of Fritch for 24 years. She taught school in Fritch and Dumas and for the last five years, Borger, teaching Texas history. She was a member of Life Tabernacle in Dumas. She was preceded in death by her father, Jack D. Powell, on June 7, 1999. Betty Lou Craig was born Aug. 10, 1932, in Memphis to Bill and Allie Watts Craig. Betty was raised in Clarendon. She married Donald G. McWhirter on Jan. 19, 1953, in Paducah. After Mr. McWhirter finished his service in the U.S. Navy they moved to Dalhart and in 1974 they moved to Hartley. Betty worked for Dalhart Consumers for almost 20 years. A member of Hartley Baptist Church, she was an EMT and volunteered with the Hartley EMS. Friends and family will remember Betty as a woman who enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning and sewing. She loved her friends and family and was always willing to offer a helping hand when needed. She was preceded in death by her father and mother. Arrangements are by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Owen was born Jan. 22, 1928, in Clinton, Okla., the youngest child of Albert Hope and Sue Lucille Jeffrey Kilman Owen. He attended public schools in Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas, and graduated from Shawnee High School in Shawnee, Okla., in 1943. His father was the pastor of First Baptist Church in Plainview from 1945 to 1953, and the president of Wayland Baptist University from 1953 to 1963. Owen went to Oklahoma Baptist University on a basketball scholarship and then attended Baylor University School of Law, where he graduated in 1950 with a Juris Doctor. In July 1950, he joined the law practice of Judge Frank R. Day in Plainview. On Aug. 8, 1950, Owen married Mary Frank Day in First Baptist Church in Plainview. Together they have four children, 10 grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. He served in the U.S. Air Force, and had a successful law practice for more than 56 years in the firm that is now called Owen, Voss, Owen and Melton. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Hope Owen Pritchard; two brothers, Karl Kip Owen and Bruce Baxter Owen; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank R. and Anne Day. Survivors include his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Jeffre Ann and Larry Littleton of Dallas; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rudd Franklin and Julie Owen, and Ross Gene and Jan Owen of Plainview; a daughter and son-in-law, Dayna Mary and Neil White of Plainview; 10 grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. Mr. Scott was born Sept. 10, 1917, in Healdton, Okla., to Leo and Oma Scott. Scottie married Mary Lois Bush on Aug. 1, 1940, in Clovis, N.M. They have four daughters, Dorothy Leech of Lubbock, Mary Vincent of Dallas, Sherrie Cox of Denton and Judy Sullivan of Nemo. Scottie and Mary Lois had the Amarillo Mop Manufacturing Co. in Amarillo from 1947 to 1979. They lived in Amarillo nearly 60 years. He moved to Lubbock in May 2000 to be closer to family. H. L. was a deacon and Sunday school teacher for 12 years at Fairview Baptist Church in Amarillo and a member for 30 years of First Baptist Church in Amarillo. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Mary Lois; a grandson, Rick Vincent; three sisters, Irene, Inez and Dorothy; and a son-in-law, Owen Leech. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1934 and went on to attend Amarillo College. Shortly thereafter, she married her high school sweetheart, George R. Lynch, on Dec. 23, 1937. They shared 64 years together until his death. Neva worked for Maywood Co., Toot'n Totum and retired from J. Lee Milligan at the age of 75. She made many dear friends during her long career. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Neva was a member of Paramount Christian Church. The family would like to thank Hospice Care of the Southwest for the kind, loving care they bestowed upon Neva and her family during Neva's final days. Ethan was born in 1985, in Anchorage, Alaska. He attended schools in Dimmitt and played football and ran track before moving to Amarillo in 2001. He attended Tascosa High School before finishing at Amarillo High School. He began working for Wal-Mart on Tascosa Road in 2002 as a night stocker and was promoted to manager of ICS. He was a kind and loving person who always put others before himself. His family and friends will miss him very much. He operated a service station for more than 40 years. He was a member of Ross Rogers Golf Course and was president of Municipal Golfers Association for many years. Mr. Gatlin had been a member of Central Church of Christ for many years and more recently was a member of The Church of Christ at the Colonies. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Gatlin, who is the mother of his four children; and a daughter, Lavonda Bill. She attended TSCW Secretarial School in Abilene and then attended Amarillo College. Mozelle studied art with Romaine Swan for 17 years, becoming quite an artist. She married Billy Briggs in 1943 and then Bill Eakens in 1958. She worked as a manager and bookkeeper for her husband's real estate and investment company. Her hobbies included collecting dolls, especially Barbie dolls, playing bridge and watching TV. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Bobby Briggs in 1965; two brothers, Walter D. Lowrie Jr. and Jimmy Ray Lowrie; two sisters, Jo Robins and Frankie Deming. He was a loving son and will be greatly missed by his family, nephews and nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles and many cousins. Joel was a Christian and rededicated his life to Jesus Christ in December 2006.
