Preciado Johnny J. Preciado, 67, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Deacon Charles Lucero officiating. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the church with Monsignor Rex Nicholl of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S. Arthur St. Johnny was born Sept. 24, 1939, in El Paso to Jose Preciado and Effie Martinez. He lived in Amarillo for a number of years. He was a member of the National Guard at age 14, then joined the U.S. Marines in 1956. He was an electrician at Long Beach Naval Ship Yard in California. He was honorably discharged from the Marines in 1960 as a private first class. He remained in California with the civil service as an electrician for 22 years until his retirement. He returned to Amarillo in 1980, where he was very active in the community. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, The Knights of Columbus, founding member and First Grand Knight of Chapter No. 9413, was usher and chairman for Las Fiestas De Amarillo, a member of the parish council and a member of the school board. He was always ready to help anybody he could. He married Amelia Frausto in 1958 in Amarillo in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Johnny was a good son, husband, father, grandfather and friend, and will be missed by all. His motto was, "Not as lean, not as mean, but still a Marine." Survivors include five daughters, Annett Mendez, Destiny Preciado, Angie Preciado and Natalie Lange, all of Amarillo, and Bernadine Moore of Colorado Springs; a son, Louie Preciado of Amarillo; and 17 grandchildren. Private burial will be in Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Ploog was born Jan. 13, 1921, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Edmond and Ella Ploog. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from March 30, 1942, to Nov. 1, 1945, and was stationed in the South Pacific. He married Shirley Clifton on April 12, 1957, in Fort Worth. Mr. Ploog was a federal meat inspector for 35 years and also was a member of Arden Road Christian Church, formerly known as Covenant of Joy Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ploog, on March 31, 2000. Survivors include a daughter, Susan Sledge and husband David of Amarillo; a son, Robert James Ploog of Amarillo; and two grandsons, Tyler and Eric. He was raised in Harrisburg, Pa., moved to Amarillo in 1968 and graduated from Alamo Catholic High School in 1971. He married Toni Brown on May 8, 1981. John was a freelance photographer who was active in his community and church. He was preceded in death by his mother. She worked in the floral department at United Supermarket on Gem Lake Road at the time of her death. She attended high school in Unionville, Mo., and also Amarillo College. She married Mark Tillman on Feb. 21, 2005, in Amarillo. She loved her job in the floral department at United and she also enjoyed gardening and music. She had a special love for children. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister. Robin was a member of Trinity Fellowship Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn Bolton; her grandfather, Papa Bolton; and her grandmother, Lois Callaway. Burial will be in Gageby Cemetery in Gageby by Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler. Mr. Helton was born Feb. 26, 1909, in Iberia, Mo., to Winfield Scott and Ida Lupardus Helton. Mr. Helton married Alice Bell King on Dec. 17, 1931, in Cheyenne, Okla. She preceded him in death in 2005. Mr. Helton was a farmer and rancher in Hemphill and Wheeler counties since 1931, moving to Wheeler in 1985. He and his wife were residents of the Craig Retirement Center and Georgia Manor Nursing home in Amarillo since August 2001. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and a member of Wheeler Masonic Lodge. He was also preceded in death by three brothers; two sisters; a grandson; and a great-grandson. She graduated from Claude High School in 1998. She was a preschool teacher in Amarillo and Phoenix. She married Varden Longraf on Oct. 31, 2002, in Amarillo. Together they have two daughters, Patience, 3, and Malach, 1. Tabitha was called home to our Lord Jesus shortly after a truck accident in Tucumcari, while trying to move herself and family to Phoenix. She was preceded in death by a brother, Joshua; and numerous family and friends. She was employed at the Air Force base as a parachute packer and a unit clerk at Northwest Hospital and St. Anthony's Hospital. She married Joe Marlin Winstead on Jan. 14, 1938, in Madisonville, Ky. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines, Women's Book Club, Singles Together, Murry Bible Class, Crusaders Class and the Juanelva Rose Circle. Minnie was a member of First United Methodist Church in Canyon. She had been a lifetime resident of Canyon since 1938. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Kathryn Hefner; two brothers; and a sister. Mrs. Brooks was born Oct. 23, 1923, in Idaho to James and Beatrice Smith. She worked at the YMCA in Dumas, Texas, for a period of time, but was a homemaker for most of her life. Mr. Sparwasser was born July 18, 1917, in Silverton, Texas, to Frederick Sparwasser and Bertha Webster. His love for horses and the outdoors was what he loved the most and his little dog, Scooter.
