Local Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Dr. Daugherty was born Feb. 4, 1923, in Kansas City, Mo., to Raymond Andrew and Florence Penrose Daugherty. He graduated from Central High School in Kansas City. He graduated from Kansas City Junior and Teacher's College, then went on to attend pre-med at Westminster College in Fulton, Mo. He then spent eight months in Norman, Okla., at the Naval Hospital as a corpsman. In June 1948, he graduated with an M.D. from Baylor University College of Medicine in Houston. He was a member of the first class to graduate from the Houston campus. He served his medical internship at Kansas City General Hospital. Dr. Daugherty served his three-year residency in internal medicine at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Houston, completing it in July 1950. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a physician and during the Korean War with the Marine Corps as a naval physician in Japan. Dr. Daugherty married Jacqueline Estes on March 5, 1948. He practiced in Borger in 1953, and then moved to Amarillo in 1954, where he began a medical practice in internal medicine until his retirement in 1988. After retirement, he did medical exams for the military until his health prevented him from working any longer. During his long successful career he served on the board of directors of Western National Bank from 1968 until 1986. He also served as the chief of medicine at St. Anthony's several times and served as president of NWTH medical staff from 1977 to 1978. He was a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church and the South Amarillo Kiwanis Club. Prior to his death, Dr. Daugherty requested his body be donated to the Baylor School of Medicine for medical research. Dr. Daugherty was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Roy Philip, in 1983; and two sisters, Beulah Wisner and Mildred Weber. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Jackie; three children, Lonnie, Carl and Nancy, all of Amarillo; grandchildren, Abbey and Eric, Shannon and Takishya; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Bodenhamer of Kansas City and Jean Mogen of Kerrville. Mr. Garcia was born Aug. 22, 1959, in Amarillo to Jose and Rebecca Arredondo Garcia. He was employed by the city of Amarillo. He loved drag racing his 1967 Fairlane and his passion was mechanics. He also played baseball for the Maverick Boys Club. Survivors include his parents of Amarillo; a brother, Kenneth B. Garcia of Amarillo; two nieces, Ashley Garcia and Ivory Chavez; a great-nephew, Christopher Earl Marvin Flanagan; and numerous other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Filbert Velasquez, Chris Flanagan, Johnny Carrasco, Gonzalo Ballin, Luis Munoz, and John Valdez III. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Betty "Terry" Paskow Betty "Terry" Paskow, 80, of Amarillo died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007. Graveside services will be at a later date in Star of David Cemetery in North Lauderdale, Fla., by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mrs. Paskow was born July 12, 1926, in Australia, and was raised in England. She met Joseph Paskow in England and married him on June 22, 1953, in Kansas City, Mo. They moved to Amarillo in the early 1980s. He passed away in 2001. She loved to travel, entertain and work in her yard. She was a Methodist. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Shirley Rothstein of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and three nephews, Allen Rothstein, Bob Rothstein and Fred Rothstein Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dorothye Knight Dorothye Knight, 94, of Amarillo died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, with the Rev. Jeff Raines, associate pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Knight was born Aug. 25, 1912, in Archer County, was raised there and was a graduate of Archer City High School. She moved to Amarillo in 1930, and married James Andrew Knight in 1940 in Amarillo. He passed away in 2005. She assisted her husband in his accounting and tax service business for more than 25 years. She then resumed her role of being a homemaker and mother. She lived her life for her Lord and her family. She had been a member of First Baptist Church since 1939, where she played the piano for the youth for many years. She started making beaded bracelets in 1994 to send on mission trips. She made more than 75,000 bracelets and they have helped spread the Gospel all over the world. She was a wonderful cook, seamstress and china painter. She was preceded in death by a son, Dan Knight, in 1994; and a brother, Jack Kilcrease. Survivors include a daughter, Ella Jane Tracy and husband Lynn of Amarillo; a son, J. Burial will be in Clarendon Cemetery in Clarendon. Mrs. Hafner was born July 21, 1930, in Clarendon to William and Omega Pierce. She had been a nurse's aide. Mrs. Hafner was an active member of the Amarillo Bluegrass Association for more than 20 years. She played the mandolin, guitar and banjo. The family wishes to express special thanks to Canyon Healthcare and VistaCare Hospice for their care of Jewell. She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Wayne Sanders. Mr. Pennington was born Nov. 27, 1914, in Winters to Icelena and John Frank Pennington. He married Athel Mullins on July 30, 1938, in Clovis, N.M. In 1952, he moved the family to Amarillo and worked at several businesses. He was an employee of Highland Park school and retired in 1980 after 21 years of service. Both Buford and Athel loved the mountains and spent many summers there. They were camp hosts for several years at the park in Vallecito, Colo. In recent years, they were both frequent walkers at Western Plaza. Buford was a quiet man who loved his family. Survivors include his wife; four sons; L.B. Pennington and wife Rita of Canyon, Rick Pennington and wife Deana of Murphy and William Pennington and wife Virginia and Steve Pennington and wife Sue, all of Amarillo; a daughter, Linda Deal and husband Glen of Calhan, Colo.; three sisters-in-law, Mary Mosley and husband Earl of Corona, Calif., Lois Ward of Campbell, Calif., and Ruth Pennington of Canyon; numerous grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Park, 89, of Amarillo died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007. Mr. Park was born Feb. 15, 1917, on the Farwell-Texico line. He served as a plane spotter during World War II. Returning to Amarillo, he started businesses as a photographer, a printer and bookbinder and was well-known to the community. His fondness for travel took him from Texas and Colorado to Mexico and Europe to savor the foods, art and music. A member of First Presbyterian Church, his kindness to young and old has touched many and he will be remembered for his compassion and devotion. He was preceded in death by his wives, Beatrice Reed Park in 1944, Mildred Wingate Park in 1968 and Connie Shawgo Park in 2005. Mr. Reynolds was born Oct. 20, 1931, in Stratford to Teddy Roosevelt and Ora Lou White Reynolds. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He married Patsy Joyce Campbell on July 23, 1961, in Dalhart. He worked as a road grater with his father in Stratford, worked as a machinist and most recently as a truck driver in the oil industry. He was a hard worker, taking care of his family and home was his top priority. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Lynn Russell Reynolds. Mr. Leal married Josephine Martinez in 1952 in Amarillo. He worked in the construction business for more than 60 years. Mr. Leal was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; two sisters; and a daughter, Sylvia Leal Galaviz. Georgia St. Mrs. Deaton graduated high school in Johnston City, Ill., in 1949. She married Stan Deaton, who passed away in 2003. She worked for Mason and Hanger for several years and worked as a secretary for Fireman's Fund Insurance Company for more than 20 years. She taught Sunday school and Training Union with her husband for more than 20 years at Paramount Baptist Church. They were then members of Washington Avenue Christian Church for the remainder of their lives. She maintained her sense of humor and positive outlook on life to the very end. She was preceded in death by her husband; and a brother, Ralph Farris. Survivors include a daughter, Debra Nielsen and husband Chris of Amarillo; a brother, Ray Farris of Johnston City, Ill.; and a granddaughter, Kathy Nielsen of Richardson. She was a charter member of First Baptist Church in Borger and was a big supporter of missions. She was a charter member of Care Net Pregnancy Center of Borger. She loved to spend time with her family and if her family was alright, then she was alright. She loved to travel with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Burial will be in Darrouzett Cemetery in Darrouzett by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton. Mr. Ginter was born July 24, 1927, in Lipscomb County. He married Ruth Lorene Miller on Oct. 24, 1948, in Darrouzett. She preceded him in death in 2006. He attended Booker schools from first through ninth grades before he had to quit and help his parents run the farm and dairy. In 1945 he was saved and baptized at the age of 18 at First Baptist Church in Booker. He enjoyed farming, ranching, hunting, leading music at his church and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play on his farm. He was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church in Lipscomb. Survivors include four daughters, Arlene Condren and husband Johnny of Amarillo, Jewell Fitz and husband Job of Lubbock, Carolyn Jones and husband Steve of Longview and Darlene Ridgway and husband Scott of Allen; a brother, Benny Ginter of Booker; two sisters, Rosie Deeds and Marie Wilmoth, both of Booker; six grandchildren, Brian Condren, Mandy Harris, Andrea Broughton, Adam Jones, Krista Ridgway and Julia Ridgway; and six great-grandchildren, Clint, Mason and Levi Condren and Chase, Slade and Marisa Harris. Military honors will be by the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Mr. Huckabee was born Feb. 14, 1934, in Springlake to Harvey Alfred and Zella Lea Bairett Huckabee. He married Kay Hill on April 14, 1962, in Lubbock. He was a decorated veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army, where he was awarded the purple heart and the silver star. In 1968, he went to work for West Friona Grain and managed it for the next 30 years. He belonged to Calvary Baptist Church and was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He was preceded in death by a sister, Loy Dean Wortham, in 2005. Survivors include his wife; a son, Kerry Lee Huckabee of Tucson, Ariz; two daughters, Debra Faye Huckabee of Mesa, Ariz., and Susan Rae Henderson and husband Wayne of Ackerly; a sister, Laverne Williams of Levelland; two brothers, Ted Huckabee of Oxford, Miss., and Richard Huckabee of Logan, N.M.; and six grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Samuel Merle Liles CHILDRESS - Samuel Merle Liles, 83, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2007. Mildred served her country in World War ll as a pilot training records clerk with the U.S. Air Force. She was a member of the Baptist church and a devoted wife and mother.
