Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. DeVine was born Nov. 23, 1935, in Buffalo, N.Y., to Walter and Beulah DeVine. He was an Army veteran and fought in the Korean War. He was a former Scout Master for Troop 112 in Amarillo and was the garage superintendent for the city of Amarillo when he retired in 1997. Georgia St. Mrs. Glenn was born Feb. 26, 1928, to Herman Victor McAlister and Ada Nora McCracken in San Angelo. She spent much of her youth in Abilene, where she was reared by her grandmother, Alice McAlister. She moved to Canyon at the age of 15 and graduated from West Texas Normal College's high school. She graduated from West Texas State University with a bachelor's degree in social sciences. She worked for Western Union, Schooler-Gordon, Amarillo Building and Mesa Petroleum. She gave countless volunteer hours to the Rape Crisis/Suicide Prevention Hotline, as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army, and Parenting Services. She was a career Sunday school teacher until her death, most recently for the Elizabeth Class at Coulter Road Baptist Church. She married Winiford B. "Wendy" Glenn on July 7, 1947, in Clovis, N.M. Survivors include her husband; a son, Victor B. Glenn and wife Rita of Amarillo; a daughter, Nancy and husband J. Pat Hickman of Canyon; and seven grandchildren, Monica, Allison and Stuart Glenn and J.Brad and wife Heidi, J. Grant, Tara and Crista Hickman. Burial will be in Clarendon Cemetery in Clarendon. Mrs. Hafner was born July 21, 1930, in Clarendon to William and Omega Pierce. She had been a nurse's aide. Mrs. Hafner was an active member of the Amarillo Bluegrass Association for more than 20 years. She played the mandolin, guitar and banjo. Georgia St. Vernal Ziegler Wilson was born Aug. 21, 1908, in Streator, Ill., and left this world on Jan. 7, 2007. Her father, William L. Ziegler, came from Hanover, Germany, to be a glassblower for Schlitz in Milwaukee in 1886. Her mother, Elizabeth Shepard Ziegler came from Windsor, England. Her father homesteaded in Texas County, Okla., northwest of Guymon, in 1904. In 1921, Vernal moved to Guymon to live with her aunt and uncle, the Safrankos, and go to Guymon High School. She graduated in 1925, and was class valedictorian. Vernal married Olen C. Wilson on Nov. 5, 1929. He preceded her in death in 1964. To this union, Olen C. Wilson Jr. and Elizabeth Jane Wilson Neely were born. Vernal retired as an auditor for Sears in 1978. She enjoyed traveling to see America, Canada and Europe. Her travels and stories were full of excitement and adventure. In 1946, First Presbyterian Church became a vital part of her life, and she was a member of the Women's Association and its church circles. Books, bridge and family were her great loves. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Edna and Ben; nine grandchildren, Lynn Wilson, Mark Wilson, Anne Wilson Larkin, Bob Neely, Erik Wilson, Stephen Neely, Lisa Wilson, Susan Neely Boudin and Sara Wilson McKay; and 11 great-grandchildren, Megan Larkin, Melissa Larkin, Elizabeth Neely, Brad Larkin, Katie Neely, Vince Wilson, Elena Wilson, Drew Larkin, Emilie Boudin, Avery McKay and Ainsley McKay. Ruth Lathum went to be with the Lord on Jan. 8, 2007, four days after her 76th birthday. Born in Lelia Lake to Luby and Jonnie Knowles, Ruth lived in the Texas Panhandle, Katy and Duncanville, touching hearts wherever she went. Ruth married Charles Eldon Lathum on Oct. 15, 1948, in Borger. They were married 50 years. Ruth's life revolved around helping and serving others. She was food services director for Katy ISD, Mansfield ISD and Cedar Hill ISD for a combined 30 years of service. During such time, she served on the board of directors of the TSFSA, lending her expertise on a state level. She served in many volunteer positions in her church life, as well as trustee at FUMC Duncanville and lay leader of Holy Covenant UMC. Ruth's parents, Luby and Jonnie; her beloved husband, Charlie; and her eldest grandchild, Jeffrey Lathum, preceded her to glory.
