Survivors include his mother, Barbara Branscum of Pampa; a sister, Lisa Jones of Stinnett; and a brother, Russell Cain of Midland. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stanley "Stoney" Walter McKee CLARENDON - Stanley "Stoney" Walter McKee, 88, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, in Amarillo. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Robertson Funeral Directors Chapel Of Memories with Gene Denney officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery. Stanley "Stoney" Walter McKee was born Dec. 10, 1918, in Clay County, Okla., where he attended school through the sixth grade. In 1936 he left Oklahoma to pursue employment in California. He served four years in the U.S. Army and received the bronze star medal for heroic action in the Battle of Pelilu and additional recognition for good conduct during his military career. Upon leaving the military, he returned to the San Joaquin Valley of California to begin a 38-year career of employment with the San Joaquin Cotton Oil Co. / Paymaster Gin Co. of Texas. In 1948 he married Eleanor "Miss Ellie" Frisby in Las Vegas. After retirement he moved to Clarendon. Stoney is fondly remembered by his grandchildren and great grandchildren for his extensive catalogue of songs with which he often entertained them. In and around Clarendon he was known for many wonderful things, including his flower and vegetable gardens. He was also a member of VFW Post 7782. He was preceded in death by his wife, Miss Ellie; and a daughter, Rebecca McKee, in 1994. Survivors include four children, Flindy Hedrick of Hanford, Calif., Susan McKee of Clarendon, Diane McKee-Georgia and husband Frank of San Diego and Jeff McKee of Winfield, Ala.; a brother, Jack McKee and wife Gladys of Hanford; a sister, Mary Griffin of Walters, Okla.; five grandchildren, Shirley Kaye Deese and husband Paul of Jacksonville, Fla., Barbara Hurst and Jeff Hedrick and wife Lisa, all of Winfield, Mike Hurst and Tor McKee, both of Hanford, and Amy Halcomb and husband Danny of Newcastle, Calif.; numerous great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild, Ellie, 4 years old, of Hanford. Mrs. Stockstill was born Oct. 11, 1919, in Hollis, Okla., the youngest of 10 children, to Robert and Gertrude Hunter. She married Muriel Stockstill on Nov. 1, 1940, in Childress. She had lived in Hardeman County since 1948, moving from Hollis. She was a homemaker, mother and farmed with her husband. For six years, Maggie worked in the Quanah schools as a cook. She loved gardening, quilting, cooking and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters; her husband, Muriel; and a son, Dan Stockstill. Survivors include three sons, Leon Stockstill and wife Dee Ann of Buna, Gerald Stockstill and wife Mary of Clovis, N.M., and Luke Stockstill and wife Maria of Moore, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Georgia St. Ann was born in 1928 in Cincinnati, she grew up in Denver and attended the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she met her husband of 54 years, Thomas William Herrick. They established their family of four children in 1958 in Amarillo, where Tom was in the cattle business. Ann was a community leader and her passion included longtime service on the board of directors for Catholic Family Service and Coalition for the Homeless, as well as the Amarillo Downtown Women's Center. Ann worked with Sister Olivia and Baptist St. Anthony's and was a founder of BSA Hospice. She was a sustaining member of the Junior League of Amarillo and the Junior League Garden Club. Ann was a patron of the Amarillo Symphony and President of the Amarillo Symphony Guild in 1965-66. Ann and Tom served as chairpersons of the Symphony Ball in 1962. Ann was a member of the Amarillo College Art Force, the Botanical Gardens, the Harrington Discovery Center and the Amarillo Museum of Art. In addition to her community involvement, Ann loved to play golf. You could always talk golf with Ann. She held the title of Amarillo Country Club Women's Golf Champion for several years. She served as the president of the Women's Gold Association in 1997. Ann was an exceptional lady, who was a true caring friend and an inspiration to all who met and knew her. She never complained and was always smiling and laughing and encouraging others even during her final few days. Many enjoyed her talents of grace, generosity and hospitality. With "Grit and Grace" she ran her race well, and all who knew and loved her will miss her. What a lovely lady she was, as well as a mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend! She especially loved her friends, seven grandchildren, 15 nieces and nephews, and her church, St. Thomas the Apostle. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Dumas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Natalie Rasavong, on Sept. 6, 1996. A true daughter of Texas, she loved fiery sunsets and the vast openness of the High Plains. Simple at heart, she found joy in seeing and being with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three brothers, John Swenson, Carl Swenson and Little Swede Swenson. Maris Ada Jeffrey was born on March 20, 1948, in Clayton to Loyd Wayne and Ethel Marie Jeffrey. She was the second born of six children spanning 25 years. She was a vivid, full of life mom, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend full of love and giving to others. She was polite, kind and thoughtful even when in great pain. She thought of others first and served her Lord Jesus faithfully since being born again in 1980. Maris left to be with Jesus after a valiant fight against heart disease, diabetes and cancer. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, co-workers, and her lifetime friend, Jesse Craig. Maris grew up on a ranch and had love and compassion for animals and horses her entire life. She graduated as salutatorian from Amistad in 1965 and achieved a lifetime goal of earning her bachelor's degree in hotel management and tourism at NMSU in 1998. She worked in various roles in her life, doing bookkeeping, payroll and accounting. She was a dedicated employee of Frontier Airlines for the last seven years where she made many friends and was dearly loved. She was involved in Women's Aglow ministries and had attended First Assembly of God, as well as a home church with pastors Ken and Laverne Longenecker. She was preceded in death by her mother; and a brother, Kevin Lamont Jeffrey.
