Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Southwest Church of Christ with Lynn Camp officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Childress Cemetery in Childress by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Hackler was born Aug. 17, 1923, in Childress to Troy and Myrtle Hackler. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and served two years in Europe in the 3rd Army Anti-Aircraft Division. He married Ernestine "Pill" Andrews on May 20, 1944, in Fort Bliss, El Paso. He retired from the Texas Department of Highways and Transportation after 37 years of service. Estel was an avid table tennis player and a faithful member of Southwest Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kathy Jones and husband Kerry of Lubbock; a son, Jon Mark Hackler and wife Kathy of Amarillo; seven grandchildren, Wendy Camp, Stephenie Becker, Luke Jones, Blake Hackler, Ryan Duncan, Natali Chisholm and Alex Schenck; and 10 great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Molly, Mason, Emily, Cutter, Talyn, Trystan, Tayton, Jess and Janssen. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo. Mrs. Duling was born July 28, 1909, in Bangs to John Wesley Thomas Sr. and Clara Lillian Moxley Thomas. She was one of eight children. She married Bill Duling in 1956 in San Diego. She had worked much of her life as a civil service employee in naval ports throughout the Pacific including Hawaii, Japan and the Philippines before her retirement. She was a resident of Amarillo for a number of years before moving to Medical Center Nursing Home in Clarendon seven years ago. Throughout her life, she had a real love and true passion for animals, especially small dogs. She was a member of a Christian church in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1976; and six brothers and sisters. Survivors include a brother, Wes Thomas and wife Betty of Clarendon; and several nieces and nephews. She loved to garden and loved to dance to country music. She was an organ donor and saved the lives of many others. She was preceded in death by many beloved family members. Prayer services were at 6 p.m. Friday in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Mass was at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the church with Monsignor Joseph Tash officiating. Arrangements were by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Herrick was born in 1928 in Cincinnati. She grew up in Denver and attended the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she met her husband of 54 years, Thomas William Herrick. They established their family of four children in 1958 in Amarillo, where Tom was in the cattle business. Ann was a community leader and her passion included longtime service on the board of directors for Catholic Family Services and Coalition for the Homeless, as well as the Amarillo Downtown Women's Center. Ann worked with Sister Olivia and Baptist St. Anthony's and was a founder of BSA Hospice. She was a sustaining member of the Junior League of Amarillo and the Junior League Garden Club. Ann was a patron of the Amarillo Symphony and president of the Amarillo Symphony Guild in 1965-66. Ann and Tom served as chairpersons of the Symphony Ball in 1962. Ann was a member of the Amarillo College Art Force, the Botanical Gardens, the Harrington Discovery Center and the Amarillo Museum of Art. In addition to her community involvement, Ann loved to play golf. You could always talk golf with Ann. She held the title of Amarillo Country Club Women's Golf Champion for several years. She served as the president of the Women's Golf Association in 1997. Ann was an exceptional lady, who was a true caring friend and an inspiration to all who met and knew her. She never complained and was always smiling and laughing and encouraging others even during her final few days. Many enjoyed her talents of grace, generosity and hospitality. With "Grit and Grace" she ran her race well, and all who knew and loved her will miss her. What a lovely lady she was, as well as a mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend! She especially loved her friends, seven grandchildren, 15 nieces and nephews, and her church, St. Thomas the Apostle. Dr. Witcher was born Sept. 6, 1916, in Duke, Jackson County, Okla., to Grover Cleveland Witcher and Willene Carey Jones Witcher. He graduated from Mangum High School and the University of Oklahoma. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma Medical School in 1943. He completed his residency at John Gaston Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He then served in the Army as a captain in the medical corps. Dr. Witcher came to Amarillo and opened his practice as an ear, nose and throat surgeon in 1949. He married Geraldine "Jerry" Freeman on June 24, 1939, in El Reno, Okla. He was preceded in death by his wife on Aug. 9, 2004, and a great-grandson, Chance Allen Witcher. "Woody" Wilson on June 29, 1942, in St. Louis. They owned and operated Woody's Bait & Tackle from 1952 to 1985 and then Woody's Woodpile from 1962 to 1996. She loved fishing, quilting and embroidery and attended First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in March 1989, and a son, Lonnie Dean Wilson, in December 1990. Jacobson Canney Rowland, 87, was born Nov. 17, 1919, in Altoona, Pa. "Jake" received a nursing degree from Walter Reed and a master's degree from West Texas State University. She was a highly decorated captain in the U.S. Air Force, where she served as a nurse on the European frontlines during World War II and was awarded the American Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal, EAME Medal and German Occupation Medal. After the war, she continued nursing and became the director of nursing at Northwest Texas Health Center in Amarillo until she was appointed by Gov. Preston Smith as the executive secretary of the State Board of Nurse Examiners in 1970, where she served until retirement.
