Mrs. Heller was born Feb. 28, 1947, in Alcodie, N.M., to Raymond and Frances Moore. She was a great and devoted loving wife, mother and grandmother. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Peppett was born May 24, 1924, in Natick, Mass. He was one of six children. He served under Gen. Patton during World War II. He retired from Southwestern Stationery and Bank Supplies after more than 15 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister and brothers. Survivors include a brother, Homer Peppett; and a nephew, James Peppett. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lois Brown Addington Lois Brown Addington, 91, formerly of Amarillo, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, in Litchfield Park, Ariz. Lois Brown Addington died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, at her home in Litchfield Park. Lois and Paul grew up in Miami and married on Jan. 2, 1937, in Pampa. They farmed and ranched on the Locke farm in Carson County until Paul's death in 1979. They were active in Pantex Baptist Church and Bykota Baptist Church in Amarillo. As a widow, Lois moved to Amarillo and became a lively part of her local neighborhood. She learned to paint and gifted friends and family with her artwork and handicrafts. She participated in Sunday school and church at Bykota Baptist until her move to Arizona in 2003, where she remained active in her new home at Baptist Village in Youngtown. She later moved to an assisted living home in Litchfield Park where she resided until her death. Lois was the youngest of five children of pioneer rancher W.L. Brown of Miami. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Paul M. Addington, her high school sweetheart; a daughter, Lois Anne; two sons, Ted and Pat; two granddaughters, Cheryl Perry Addington and Nina Lynn Addington Dunlanp; three sisters; and a brother. Survivors include a daughter, Sue Buckner and husband Tom of Rio Rancho, N.M.; a son, Bill Addington and wife Mary of Goodyear, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Janie Gill of Miami; extended family; many nephews and nieces; and friends and neighbors in the St. Francis community and Amarillo as well as new friends in Youngtown and Litchfield Park. Mrs. Pendergrass was born March 30, 1926, in Havana, Ark. She married Charles Pendergrass in 1947, and they were married for 42 years. She worked for Sears as a sales associate for 27 years and retired in 1997. She then worked at Sam's Wholesale Club as a demo assistant for 10 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in 1989; two sisters, Clauzelle Scott and Loretta Christiansen; and a brother, Oral Mott. She worked as a dental lab technician for several years. After her retirement, she enjoyed making wedding dresses and working as a seamstress. She was very talented, as seen in her art and sewing skills. Mrs. Wopperer taught Sunday school at Grace Baptist Church and at Southwest Baptist Church. She was a very godly woman, who loved her family dearly. Her love was returned by countless people. She managed to give each of her loved ones spiritual reassurance in those last days of her life here with us. She married Ronald Wopperer on Dec. 26, 1957, in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel Manzella; her father, George W. White; a nephew, William R. "Billy" White; and a niece, Kimberly Jane Cornelius. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Eula Owens Gassner was born Dec. 23, 1915, in Catesby, Okla. In 1928, her family moved to Spearman, where she graduated from high school in 1932. In 1934, she entered West Texas State College. She received a teaching certificate and taught initially for four years. She later returned to West Texas State University where she completed her Bachelor of Science degree. She did graduate work at Northern State College in Greeley, Colo., and the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colo. Eula taught school for 18 years for School District No. 50 in Westminster, Colo. After retirement, Eula returned to Amarillo. She was a docent at Amarillo Art Center from 1980 to 1984. She was also instrumental in putting together talent shows for the American Heart Association from 1980 to 1984. Eula married Walter F. Shelton on June 1, 1935. Eula and Walter had two daughters, Sandra and Karen. Eula later married John Gassner, who preceded her in death in 1991. Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Sue Jones and Karen Kaye Freyer, both of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Brian Jones, David Freyer and Krista Lerma, all of Amarillo; and six great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Lerma, Suzie Lerma, Ian Freyer, Madison Freyer, Sean Jones and Noah Jones, all of Amarillo. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe by French Mortuary of Albuquerque. Mr. Suits was born Feb. 10, 1918, in Jayton, Texas, to Arlie and Dollie Suits. He grew up in the Texas Panhandle and graduated from Baylor University with a music degree. In 1938, he went to Dallas where he was an entertainer and singer on WFAA radio's the "Early Bird Show." A redhead, he was nicknamed "The Red Robin," and that along with the song became his trademark. He joined the Army in 1941, and in 1942 married Joan Thatcher of Plainview, Texas. He served overseas as a first lieutenant in the 100th Gen. Hospital Unit. After the war he resumed his entertainment career, moved to Amarillo, Texas, and worked for KGNC radio and television for many years. He received his Master of Education degree in 1960 and was choral director at Caprock High School in Amarillo until his retirement in 1981. Gordon loved traveling with his wife Joan and enjoyed many hobbies. During the last 11 years, his love of teaching compelled him to become a mentor for adult literacy. He was especially proud of his student, Marten Griego, whom he inspired to write a book, "Leaving the House of Tears." Gordon's mission was to make a positive difference in someone's life. He did for many through his music, teaching, humor and love of life. He will be greatly missed. Hale Jr. on April 19, 1944, in Wellington. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Channing school gym with Glendell Smith, chaplain of BSA Hospital, and Bob McAlister, former pastor of First Baptist Church in Channing, officiating. Burial will be in Channing Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St., in Amarillo. Mr. Hunnicutt was born Aug. 16, 1930, in Achille, Okla., to Llewallen Ford and Ethel Hunnicutt. He graduated from Channing High School in 1947 and attended West Texas State University. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in San Angelo. It was there that he met the love of his life, Nedra Sheehan. They were married on May 29, 1954. Mr. Hunnicutt worked for Pantex from 1957 until 1964. The family then moved to Channing, where he owned and operated Hunnicutt Oil Co. until he retired from the oil business in 1974. He also was a partner in Tri-County Bail Bonds from 1984 until 2003. Mr. Hunnicutt served as the mayor of Channing in the early 1960s, and as a Hartley County Commissioner for 20 years. He was a full-time bronze sculptor with a studio on the Canadian River, and a foundry where he cast his own sculptures in downtown Channing. Mr. Hunnicutt was an avid arrowhead collector and had one of the largest privately held collections in the United States. A lifelong love of laughter and trickery, Bob never met a stranger. He always offered a leg up to those in need and was an anonymous donor to those less fortunate. He lived his life to the fullest. He always wanted a huge family and he got it, with all the noise that goes along with a large family. He was preceded in death by his parents. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today in Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S. Arthur St., in Amarillo. Services will be at a later date in Chihuahua, Mexico. Ms. Mata had lived in the Hereford area since 1992. She was a happy and loving person who loved her children and grandchildren very much. She loved to cook and did so for many years. She was a member of San Jose Catholic Church in Hereford. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel E. Mata; and her parents, Jose Pilar Chacon and Rosenda Chacon. Arrangements are by Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian. Joyce was born on April 20, 1924, in Claude to the late Mr. Wayne A. McMurry and Mrs. Eva Ann Powell McMurry. She attended grammar school in Claude, and graduated in 1942 from Memphis High School. She then went on to receive a bachelor's degree in religious education in 1950 from Phillips University in Enid, Okla. She married Glenn W. Ricketts on June 15, 1949, in Lubbock. They moved to Canadian on Aug. 12, 1999, from Albuquerque, N.M. Joyce was an integral part of her husband's ministry in the Disciples of Christ church. The highlight of her professional life was her work as registrar of two colleges: College of Artesia in Artesia, N.M., and St. John's College in Santa Fe, N.M. In addition to being a minister's wife, and a minister in her own right, she continued her joy of working with people as a real estate agent for 12 years in Albuquerque. Joyce was a current member of Chapter I PEO and had been an active PEO member for 50 years. She was also a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Mark Ricketts; and a granddaughter, Gwyn Ricketts. Survivors include her husband, Glenn W. Ricketts; a son, Doug Ricketts and wife Cathy of Lipscomb; a sister, Nora Phillips of Lake Kiowa; a sister-in- law, Catharine Russell of Hereford; a granddaughter, Lindsay Ricketts of Saratoga, Wyo.; and a host of loving family and friends. Celebration of life services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16 in Holley Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon. Arrangements are by Clements Funeral Service of Durham. Local arrangements are by Holley Funeral Home of Canyon. Johannah was born March 12, 1916, in Happy to William Frederick and Clara Thum Miller. She graduated from Happy High School, attended West Texas State College in Canyon and married Conway Ellison Kuykendall on June 3, 1936. They were married for 59 years before his death in 1996. Johannah lived her entire life in the Happy and Canyon area until moving to Durham in 2001 to be near her daughter. Johannah was well-known for her ability as an accomplished pianist, playing mostly "by ear" with an enthusiastic and upbeat style from a repertoire of more than 500 songs. She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Happy, where she began playing the piano for worship at the age of 12, and continued in that service for 25 years. Through the years, she played the piano for numerous weddings, funerals and civic functions. Johannah loved her family and enjoyed entertaining friends and extended family. She was a wonderful homemaker, cook, seamstress, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. Besides rearing a family, she worked for many years as a bookkeeper for the Canyon Independent School District tax office. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Dr. Claire Miller of Waco, Winfield Miller of Canyon, Willard Miller of Perryton and Gene Miller of Amarillo; and three sisters, Gladys Bates of Long Beach, Calif., Muriel McCutchan of Eufaula, Okla., and Edith "Sweetie" Johnson of Happy. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Ken and Virginia Kuykendall of Palestine; a daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Mike Rosenmarkle of Durham; a son, Chris Kuykendall of Austin; three granddaughters and husbands, Kathy and Paul Brake of San Antonio, Julie and Curtis Boozer of Arlington and Kelly and Adam Keadey of Hillsborough, N.C.; five great-grandchildren, Danielle, Michael and Katie Boozer, Jake Keadey and Kenton Brake; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Hannah and Trey Brake; a brother, Robert Miller of Lubbock; a brother-in-law, Cone Johnson of Happy; three sisters-in law, Mary Miller of Lubbock, Nell Miller of Waco, Bess Miller Brillhart of Perryton; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to Faith City Ministries, P.O. Box 870, Amarillo, TX 79105. Helen Sisson was born Oct. 24, 1934, to Alex and Opal Hopkins in Steelville, Mo. Growing up as a child, her family finally settled in Gallup, N.M., where she graduated high school and where her children were born. She then moved to Roswell, N.M., where she raised her children. Helen later moved to Carlsbad, N.M., where she attended New Mexico State University, receiving an associate degree as a registered nurse. She retired from Guadalupe Medical Center where she worked as an emergency room nurse. After retirement she moved to Canyon to be with her family. China painting was her passion. Helen's devotion and love to her children and grandchildren was exceptional as well as her faith in God. She was preceded in death by her parents of Gallup; a brother, Dale Hopkins; and a sister, Patty Hopkins.
