Mrs. Grogan was born Dec. 22, 1923, in Ballina, County Mayo, Ireland, to Anthony and Ellen McGowan. She married John M. Grogan in 1959 in Birmingham, England. The family moved to America from Ireland in March 1960. She had been a member of St. Laurence Cathedral since 1960. She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. Mr. Allen was born in Plainview, and had lived in Amarillo for eight years. He graduated from West Texas University in 1975 and worked as a business manager for various automobile dealerships in the Houston and Amarillo area. He was employed at the time of his death by Distinctive Millworks and by A- Plus Roofing in Amarillo. Mr. Allen served in the U.S. Air Force from 1970 to 1974. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Amarillo. She had lived in Wheeler until the age of 8. After she married Bill Cole, they moved to Lefors and had one son, Rondall Cole. She later worked in Pampa as a clerk for J.C. Penney. Later she moved to Dalhart before moving to Amarillo three years ago. She was an incredible seamstress and loved to do flowers. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son; and eight brothers and sisters. Survivors include a granddaughter, Telenia Anthony and husband Phillip of Washougal, Wash.; a great-grandson, Carlos; and numerous nieces and nephews. Evans, 92, of Amarillo died Monday, Jan. 22, 2007. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in West Amarillo Christian Church with Ray Guy, pastor, Ron Kohler and Gene Shelburne officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Evans was born April 26, 1914, in the Vivian community in Foard County to E.T. Evans Sr. and Eva Magee Evans, the fourth of eight children in the family. He graduated from high school in 1931 in Paducah, lettering in football, baseball and track. He attended West Texas State Teachers College, first receiving a teaching certificate and later a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in government and history. His education led to teaching positions at Vivian Rural School in Foard County and Phillips High School. He served in the Signal Corps of the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1946 as a radar technician, spending one year in the European Theater. He married June Delight Weast on July 4, 1943, at her country home near South Plains. E.T. and June settled in Amarillo after World War II. E.T. continued his teaching career at Sam Houston Jr. High School and at Amarillo High School, where he taught Texas and U.S. Government and sponsored several senior classes. He received his master's degree in political science from West Texas State in 1947. In 1954, his career as a principal began at Glenwood Elementary School. He opened Whittier Elementary School and served as principal from 1954 to 1960 and then opened Ridgecrest Elementary School, serving as principal until his retirement in 1976. Throughout his teaching career, E.T. always kept current information on his students and always knew the names of his students and their parents He took great pride in following his students as they grew up and became successful members of the Panhandle community. A longtime member of West Amarillo Christian Church, E.T. served as Bible school teacher, deacon, elder and trustee for more than 30 years after which he was honored as elder emeritus. He was on the board of directors of the Mary E. Bivins Foundation for 31 years, serving three terms as president. The E.T. Evans Chapel at Mary E. Bivins Memorial is named in recognition of his many years of dedicated service. He helped organize the Bible Chair of the Southwest at Amarillo College and the Multi-Service Center for the Aging, serving as president for two years and becoming member emeritus. This center established the pilot program for day care for the aged, now the Jan Werner Adult Day Care Center. E.T. and June enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and the world. With his sons, grandsons and great-grandsons, E.T. particularly loved spending time at the family cabin in Woody Creek, Colo., fishing, exploring, jeeping and skiing. E.T. had a passion for learning and was an avid reader of American history and Biblical history. E.T. was known to say, "The world keeps turning," and his love of keeping the extended family in touch and aware of their heritage is an important part of his legacy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Turner and Eva Magee Evans; two brothers, Earl and Franklin Evans; and four sisters, Minnie Fay Thomas Easter, Alice Thayer, Margaret Daniel and Evalyn Luker. He attended Brady High School. Sam married Louita Emanuel on June 27, 1953, in Amarillo. He was a member of Paramount Baptist Church and the Pastors Sunday School Class. He was also member of Caprock Cruisers RV Club and Allegro Panhandlers RV Club. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mae Thiel; and his parents, Sinsel Collier and Alma Eisele. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, with the Rev. Wayne Griffin, pastor of Second Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Johnson was born Nov. 30, 1917, in Arpelar, Okla. She raised her children in Canyon from 1947 until 1955. She moved to Amarillo in 1955 and went to work at Amarillo Air Force Base. After the Air Base closed, she moved to Aurora, Colo. She retired and returned to Amarillo in 1974. She was a wonderful cook and gardener. She also loved to quilt and made more than 300 quilts. She was a member of Second Baptist Church. Ola Mae Robinson was born Nov. 17, 1903, on the Worsham ranch near Newport, Clay County, the eldest daughter of Franklin Earl and Jennie Rachel Gay Robinson. She died of natural causes on Jan. 24, 2007, at 103 years. A graduate of West Texas State Teacher's College and Draughon's Business College, Miss Robinson began her career as a teacher in rural schools, then pursued a lifelong contribution in government service as an accountant for the War Department and the Department of the Air Force. She worked in Washington, D.C., St. Louis and Denver before retiring to live in Hereford and Amarillo. She was a member of the Methodist church, Denver Rose Society, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, National Genealogical Society and the Republican Party. Miss Robinson was also listed in Who's Who of American Women. An avid traveler in her later years, Miss Robinson visited more than 40 countries and was a skilled photographer. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Roy, J.O., Billie, George S. and M.L. "Jack" Robinson; and two sisters, Eunice Howard and Beulah Knierim. She is survived by a sister, Wilma Smith of Pampa; and numerous nieces and nephews. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Robert E. "Bob" Olson Sr. Robert E. "Bob" Olson Sr., 78, of Amarillo died Monday, Jan. 22, 2007. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. today in Park Place Towers Parlor with the Rev. Royce Elms officiating. Arrangements are by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mr. Olson was born Nov. 19, 1928, in Cheyenne, Wyo., and attended school in Columbus, Ga. He was active in Scouting, earning the degree of Eagle Scout. After graduating from high school, he entered West Point Military Academy in 1947 and graduated with the class of 1951. He was then commissioned in the U.S. Air Force and received basic pilot training at Spence Field in Moultrie, Ga. It was there he met and married Mildred "Millie" McGee on July 19, 1952. He flew the F-100 aircraft with the 8th Fighter Wing, and in 1959 he was introduced to large aircraft, becoming a B-47 aircraft commander. He later flew F-4 "Phantoms." He flew 66 combat missions over North Vietnam earning the Distinguished Flying Cross, two Air Medals and the Air Force Commendation Medal. He later served on the staff of the 7th Air Force in Saigon, earning the Bronze Star medal. For the next four years he served in Hawaii with CINPAC where he received the Joint Service Commendation Medal. In his last assignment, he served as maintenance officer for the 355th Tactical Fighter Wing at Davis Monthan AFB in Tucson, Ariz. After retirement from the Air Force, he moved to Florida where he served as chairman of the Maintenance Technology Division of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University for four years. He then returned to Tucson to serve as vice president of Cochise Airlines. His last position was at Davis Monthan AFB as the superintendent for the maintenance contractor to the U.S. Customs Service's Air Branch. He served in this position for 10 years before retiring full-time. While in Tucson, he served as an adult leader of the Boy Scouts, and earned the Silver Beaver award for his service to youth. He was introduced to amateur radio in Tucson and became licensed as WV7P. As a volunteer examiner, he gave hundreds of amateur radio examinations for aspiring amateur radio operators. In the early '80s Bob became a "born-again Christian." This led him to join The Gideons International. While in Arizona he served in numerous state offices, including four years as state president. Bob spoke in many local churches, giving the Gideon report. He traveled extensively around Arizona, speaking at pastor appreciation banquets and other Gideon events. He traveled to Nigeria and assisted the Gideons there to place nearly 300,000 scriptures in a two-week period. He was a teacher and usher in the local church. He was a member of Jubilee Apostolic Church. Survivors include his wife, Millie Olson of Amarillo; two daughters, Connie Olson of Amarillo and Nancy Clayton of Lexington, Ky.; and a son, Bob Olson Jr. of Vancouver, Wash.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Margaret Sue Morman Margaret Sue Morman, 64, of Amarillo died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007. Mrs. Morman was born June 4, 1942, in Spearman to James and Eileen Sutherland. She loved her family, she also loved to read, but her great love was for her three grandchildren. Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Home. Mrs. Hargesheimer was born March 12, 1915, in Stricker, Ark., to W.H. and Frankie Emiline Milligan McWhorter. She married Clifton Randolph Hargesheimer on Dec. 30, 1933, in Quanah. Ricky Carstensen, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Mrs. Sullivan was born June 6, 1921, in Peterborough, N.H., to Hollis B. Chase and Phyllis B. Moore Chase. She married James Sullivan on March 23, 1953, in Wellington. He died in 1983. She was a graduate of the University of Texas and was recognized as a UT Goodfellow. She came to Wellington in 1947, began work with the Wellington Leader and later taught English and journalism at Wellington High School. She worked at the Collingsworth County Chamber of Commerce. She was the co-owner of Sullivan Hardware in Wellington. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir, served on numerous committees and the administrative board and was a member of the 23rd Psalm Circle. She was a former member of the 1924 Study Club and the Texas Press Association. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Carlin and husband Ted of Aviano, Italy; and two sisters, Freda Jones of Chester, N.H., and Dottie Mankowsky of Greenfield, Mass. Mr. Wilbon had been a lifelong resident of Pampa, graduating from Pampa High School in 1970. Mary Ann was born Feb 21, 1929, in McCaulley to Levi and Florence McCollum, and she liked to joke that this event single-handedly set off the Great Depression. She completed her undergraduate study at McMurry College in Abilene and her master's study at the University of Texas in Austin, and she taught school in Texas and New Mexico for 40 years. Her numerous friends will remember her musical talent, her generosity with time and energy in the United Methodist church community and her love of visiting and spending time with friends and family. Her family and her 54-year marriage to Dr. Jim Pickens were the center of her life, and she took some of her greatest pleasure in joining him in his capacity as a Methodist minister in the Northwest Texas/New Mexico conference to visit friends and parishioners as often as possible. Her family remembers her as a mother devoted to the pursuits and happiness of her children and the loving support of their families.
