Hudson Frances R. Hudson, 95, of Amarillo died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with the Rev. Jeff Messer, chaplain of Bivins Memorial Nursing Home, officiating. Burial will be in Happy Cemetery. Mrs. Hudson was born June 26, 1911, to Howard and Ona Stephenson in Canyon. She moved to Happy at a very early age. She graduated from Happy High School in 1928. Frances married Willis Odie Hudson on Oct. 18, 1930. They lived in Happy and farmed for 46 years. They retired to Amarillo in 1976. Frances was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church of Amarillo. Frances was the oldest living member of the Stephenson family. She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 12, 1996. Survivors include a nephew, Don Stephenson of Minneapolis; four great-nephews; a great-niece; and nine great-great-nephews and great-great-nieces who mourn her passing. Steve was born April 21, 1952, to Mr. and Mrs. C P "Curlie" Anderson in Wheeler. He went to school in Shamrock and later went to Laquanta County Junior College. He had worked as a welder. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Larry Kent and Burney Leon; and a sister, Trena Joy Anderson. Survivors include a daughter, Tammy Cotter and husband Jimmy of Guymon, Okla.; a son, Shane Anderson and Melissa of Texhoma, Okla.; four grandchildren, Kelsi Cotter and Karlee Cotter, Matthew Luper and Cody Loeser; a brother, Loyd Anderson and wife June of Crawford; three sisters, Wanda Vinyard and husband J.R. and Cleta Riley and husband W.H., all of Shamrock, and Audrine Olson and husband Ole of Amarillo; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Sauls Jr. was born Sept. 9, 1939, in Waxahachie to Bertha and Andrew Sauls Sr. Andrew lived in Borger, served in the U.S. Army, and lived in Seattle before moving to Amarillo. He retired from Asarco. Survivors include a daughter, Michelle Saul Bradford of Shreveport, La.; a grandson; a granddaughter; three sisters, Ruth Belton of Borger, Gloria Sauls of Amarillo and Vivian Lyons of Seattle; and two brothers, the Rev. James A. Sauls and wife Marilyn and the Rev. John W. Sauls and wife Fannie, all of Seattle. Viewing will be from 1 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, with the Rev. Jeff Raines, associate pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery Garden Mausoleum. Mrs. Christianson was born Dec. 22, 1921, in Harcourt, Iowa, and was raised there. She was a graduate of Harcourt High School and attended business school in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She married Chris Christianson on Dec. 20, 1947, in Blair, Neb. They moved to Amarillo from Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio in 1962. She was a longtime member and Sunday school teacher of First Baptist Church. She loved to read her Bible and always saw the good in everyone. She loved to garden and was a longtime member of the Amarillo Garden Center. She wrote several essays on gardening. She was very artistic, and loved to sew and arrange flowers. Most of all she loved doing for her family and being "NaNa" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Allen Christianson and James Wilson Christianson. Survivors include her husband, Chris Christianson; two sons, Bruce Christianson of Amarillo and John Christianson of Sandpoint, Idaho; two daughters, Sky Lightheart of Sandpoint and Patti Foster of Iowa City, Iowa; a sister, Wilma Johnson of Fort Dodge; 10 grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Marilyn Joyce Riecken Marilyn Joyce Riecken, 69, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007. Georgia St. Mrs. Riecken worked for more than 20 years at Northwest Texas Hospital, where she finished her career as director of Auxiliary Volunteer Services. She and her husband, Gordon, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in August 2006. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Riecken; and her father, Isadore Swanson. Evans, 92, of Amarillo died Monday, Jan. 22, 2007. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. today in West Amarillo Christian Church with Ray Guy, pastor, Ron Kohler and Gene Shelburne officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Evans was born April 26, 1914, in the Vivian community in Foard County to E.T. Evans Sr. and Eva Magee Evans, the fourth of eight children in the family. He graduated from high school in 1931 in Paducah, lettering in football, baseball and track. He attended West Texas State Teachers College, first receiving a teaching certificate and later a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in government and history. His education led to teaching positions at Vivian Rural School in Foard County and Phillips High School. He served in the Signal Corps of the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1946 as a radar technician, spending one year in the European Theater. He married June Delight Weast on July 4, 1943, at her country home near South Plains. E.T. and June settled in Amarillo after World War II. E.T. continued his teaching career at Sam Houston Jr. High School and at Amarillo High School, where he taught Texas and U.S. Government and sponsored several senior classes. He received his master's degree in political science from West Texas State in 1947. In 1954, his career as a principal began at Glenwood Elementary School. He opened Whittier Elementary School and served as principal from 1954 to 1960 and then opened Ridgecrest Elementary School, serving as principal until his retirement in 1976. Throughout his teaching career, E.T. always kept current information on his students and always knew the names of his students and their parents He took great pride in following his students as they grew up and became successful members of the Panhandle community. A longtime member of West Amarillo Christian Church, E.T. served as Bible school teacher, deacon, elder and trustee for more than 30 years after which he was honored as elder emeritus. He was on the board of directors of the Mary E. Bivins Foundation for 31 years, serving three terms as president. The E.T. Evans Chapel at Mary E. Bivins Memorial is named in recognition of his many years of dedicated service. He helped organize the Bible Chair of the Southwest at Amarillo College and the Multi-Service Center for the Aging, serving as president for two years and becoming member emeritus. This center established the pilot program for day care for the aged, now the Jan Werner Adult Day Care Center. E.T. and June enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and the world. With his sons, grandsons and great-grandsons, E.T. particularly loved spending time at the family cabin in Woody Creek, Colo., fishing, exploring, jeeping and skiing. E.T. had a passion for learning and was an avid reader of American history and Biblical history. E.T. was known to say, "The world keeps turning," and his love of keeping the extended family in touch and aware of their heritage is an important part of his legacy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Turner and Eva Magee Evans; two brothers, Earl and Franklin Evans; and four sisters, Minnie Fay Thomas Easter, Alice Thayer, Margaret Daniel and Evalyn Luker. While raising her two children, she devoted 47 years of working and supporting her husband in the Saladmaster Cookware business. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Warren was born Sept. 4, 1942, in Greene County, Pa., to James and Wynona Willison. She was the owner of Twinks Guns for more than 20 years before retiring to enjoy her real passion in life - her music. She was known throughout the state of Texas, most especially in the Panhandle, as a performer, teacher, worship leader and musical ambassador. As a member of the Texas Commission on the Arts, she traveled abroad to represent the great state of Texas with her music. She was a classically trained violinist and was able to perform well within many genres of music. She was perhaps best known for her contributions to cowboy and Celtic music scenes. She met her husband, Jim, after moving to Ohio in 1972. They moved to Amarillo in 1973 and have made Amarillo their home for the last 34 years. Corrine loved the ocean and beaches that she enjoyed from a young age. She loved family camping trips to the mountains in New Mexico. She was a nurse at Family Hospital until it closed. She then worked as a nurse for the past 10 years at The Clairmont Retirement Home and loved The Clairmont and looking after the elderly residents. She often said she found "her calling in life." He graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1977 and attended Amarillo College and Wayland Baptist University. He married Carol Clement in 1978 in Amarillo. For the past several years, Mr. Tiffee had been working as an independent claims adjuster evaluating hurricane damage in Florida and Mississippi. During the last eight months, he bravely battled leukemia. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a sister, Pamela Kathleen, who was born May 8, 1957, and lived three hours. Survivors include his loving wife of 28 years, Carol Tiffee; a son, A.B. Tiffee IV and wife Elisa of Amarillo; his parents, Betty and A.B. Tiffee Jr. of Amarillo. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Earl Eugene Boyd was born Aug. 3, 1926, in Davenport, Okla., to Robert Benjamin and Gladys Pauline Hoover Boyd. He married Noel Adkins in 1981. Earl was a radio operator in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for Chevron Oil Corp. for 34 years. Earl served as Worshipful Master of Masonic Lodge in Shamrock, and he was a former Rotarian and served as president of that organization. He was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church where he participated in various positions and was a member of the choir. He was a Texas Department of Human Services volunteer for many years and received many citations for his assistance. Earl also helped with the Irish Helping Hands organization. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Ulrey, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Seymour, and the Rev. Ricky Carstensen, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Mrs. Sullivan was born June 6, 1921, in Peterborough, N.H., to Hollis B. Chase and Phyllis B. Moore Chase. She married James Sullivan on March 23, 1953, in Wellington. He died in 1983. She was a graduate of the University of Texas and was recognized as a UT Goodfellow. She came to Wellington in 1947, began work with the Wellington Leader and later taught English and journalism at Wellington High School. She worked at the Collingsworth County Chamber of Commerce. She was the co-owner of Sullivan Hardware in Wellington. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir, served on numerous committees and the administrative board and was a member of the 23rd Psalm Circle. She was a former member of the 1924 Study Club and the Texas Press Association. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Carlin and husband Ted of Aviano, Italy; and two sisters, Freda Jones of Chester, N.H., and Dottie Mankowsky of Greenfield, Mass. He will always be remembered for his enjoyment of life, laughter, storytelling and making money, and he was an excellent female juggler. He lived his life his way and had a great ride.
