Cofer Gloria J. Cofer, 62, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. James L. Collins and the Rev. E.J. Cofer, pastor of New Birth Bible Fellowship, officiating. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery by Warford- Walker Mortuary. Gloria Jean Cofer was born March 3, 1944, in Amarillo to Floyd and Ina Jacobs. She graduated from Carver High School and attended West Texas State University. Survivors include two sons, Edward R. Bradley II and wife Debra of San Antonio and Edgar Joe Cofer III of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Chris and Edrianna Cofer; a nephew, Larry Matthews and wife Janice of Atlanta; and several other nieces, nephews and family members. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Curtis Loy Lamar Curtis Loy Lamar, 71, of Amarillo died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Groom Cemetery with Bill Hinson, justice of the peace, officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 Georgia St. Mr. Lamar was born in Ada, Okla., to John and Gladys Mae Lamar on Jan. 17, 1936. He served in the United States Air Force. A proud father, he raised his two daughters by himself. He worked for the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 1995. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling. Up until the birth of his granddaughter, Rachael, his hobbies included woodworking and photography. After her birth, she was the center of his life. Survivors include two daughters, Diana Lamar and Leigh Ann Hopkins, both of Groom; and his granddaughter, Rachael. Creek VA Hospital. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lillian Bell Galloway Lillian Bell Galloway, 88, of Amarillo died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Lee Gibson, pastor of Cuero United Pentecostal Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Galloway was born July 2, 1918, in McDade. She loved animals and gardening and had a heart as big as the outdoors, which she loved. She had 11 brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Myrtle Greenhaw. Survivors include a son, Steven Thurman; four daughters, Kay Jones, Diane Fast and husband Perry, Regena Gibson and husband Lee and Joy Biggers and husband Richard; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a great-great- grandchild. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Helen Phillips Feierabend Helen Phillips Feierabend, 94, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007. Services were Saturday in the sanctuary of Polk Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lane Boyd, the Rev. Kevin Deckard and the Rev. Marty Hamrick officiating. A private burial was held at Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home. Helen Phillips Feierabend was born March 8, 1912, in Skiatook, Okla., to Martha Benge Phillips and Jacob "Jake" Rice Phillips. She moved with her family in 1925 to Amarillo, when her father came to be a part of the Wildcat drilling boom in the Texas Panhandle. When the rest of her family moved in 1926, to Skia-Tex Camp in Borger, Helen boarded with the O.W. Harrison family to attend high school. After graduating from Amarillo High School in 1930, she attended Amarillo College (known as Lincoln Street University). On June 15, 1931, she married Clary Gardner (Sike) Feierabend at Polk Street Methodist Church. Mrs. Feierabend has been an active member of Polk Street United Methodist Church since 1926. She attended the Suzanna Wesley Sunday School class. Helen was a charter member of Chapter CM, PEO and a 70-year member. She served on the PEO Texas State Board as chairman of Star Oaks and she co-chaired the 1973 Texas State Convention in Amarillo. Helen was one of the founding members of the Baptist Hospital Auxiliary in 1968 and served as its president in 1970-71. She was a member of the Antique Club, The Le Temp Study Club, The Amarillo Country Club and The Wads Bridge Club. She served on the local American Red Cross Board for several terms. Helen's hobbies included reading, traveling and creating miniature shadow boxes. Her legacy will continue through her numerous needlepoint treasures. She was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 15, 1961; her parents; two sisters; and two brothers. Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Fancher and husband Ed of Amarillo; a brother, William Robert Phillips and wife Lavaughn of Kerrville; a sister, Mary Frances Stark and husband Ed of Colorado Springs; three grandchildren, Edward Alexander Fancher III and wife Katherine of Tempe, Ariz., Elizabeth "Lisa" Fancher Fittz of Lubbock and Ann Clary Old and husband Jay of Beaumont; four great-grandchildren, Taylor Gardner Fittz, Edward Alexander Fancher IV, Helen Elizabeth Old and James Edward Old II; her caretaker for 30 years, Bonnie Terry; and her prayer partner, Patricia Delgado. The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Park Place Towers and Ware Memorial for their loving friendship and support, and BSA Hospice and Compassionate Care by Cathy for the special care given Helen these past months. Polk St., Amarillo, TX 79101; or to a favorite charity. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Walter Lavern "Mac" McQueary Walter Lavern "Mac" McQueary, 80, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, in Amarillo. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. McQueary was born Dec. 10, 1926, to Carl Jasper McQueary and Nellie Ann Daniels McQueary on their farm near Hollis, Okla. He enlisted in the armed forces in World War II, serving in the Asia-Pacific Theater, and received an honorable discharge in November 1946. He loved both God and his country. Mac married Hollie Cleo Aaron in Albuquerque, N.M., in 1953. In 1976, Mac, his wife and their son moved to Amarillo, where he served as a federal agent for the Atomic Energy Commission in the U.S. Department of Energy for more than 30 years, before retiring in December 1989. He was a Mason, a member of the Texas Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the American Legion. Mac was also an active sportsman who loved to hunt and fish, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his son and grandson. A man of quick wit, abiding wisdom and a peaceful, generous spirit, Mac was universally loved by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; and five sisters, Mary Ellen McQueary, Ruby Lee McQueary Wilson, Connie Pearl McQueary Gatlin, Eudora May McQueary McClendon and Nellie Pauline McQueary Jernigan; and a brother, Charles McQueary. Survivors include his wife of 53 years; a son, Carl Randall McQueary of Austin; a grandson, Kendall Edison McQueary of Granbury; a brother, Clyde McQueary of Albuquerque; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great- nephews, cousins and many loyal friends. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Memorial Park Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Robert Field officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home. Mr. Brown was born Oct. 26, 1929, in Memphis, Tenn., to William and Willie Mae Brown. He was a lifelong resident of Amarillo. He was a mechanic for the city of Amarillo for many years. Mr. Brown was a kind-hearted man who loved to help others. He also enjoyed cooking. He will be missed by the many lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Brown, in February of 2005. Survivors include five daughters, Deborah Cooper of Petaluma, Calif., Brenda Przydorowski of Rohnert Park, Calif., Deborah Brown of Sylmar, Calif., Lori Jackson of Guthrie, Okla., and Terri Lynn Brown of Amarillo; two sons, Eugene Brown of Petaluma, and LeBron Brown of Sylmar; 14 grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; and a special caregiver, Lupe Prieto. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shelby Lee Gifford Shelby Lee Gifford, 66, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Gifford was born in Lawton, OK in 1940 and moved to Pampa in 1951. While in Pampa, he met and married Beverly Fennell in 1957. Mr. Gifford served in the United States Navy for eight years and served during the Vietnam Era. He and his family moved to Amarillo in 1965, where he worked at the Texaco Refinery for 17 years. He then moved on to work at Excel Helium where he retired in 1998. Mr. Gifford will always be remembered and was a beloved husband, father and grandfather "Popeye." We rejoice that he is now in peace with our heavenly father. "Bill" Tate Willie V. "Bill" Tate, 80, of Amarillo died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007. Mr. Tate was born Feb. 24, 1926, in Dewey, Okla., to Susie and Wilburn Tate. He had worked for Ford Motor Company for over 28 years. He also had owned and operated an ostrich farm in Canyon. Mr. Tate was a veteran in the United States Army serving in World War II. During his service he received the following decorations: Philippine Liberation Ribbon with One Bronze Star and the Good Conduct Medal. He married Jean Prince on Jan. 28, 1978, in Las Vegas. In her early years, she worked for Bivins Memorial Nursing Home. She was a member of First Christian Church. She was preceded in death by a nephew, Corey S. Moore in 1997; and a sister Jeanie Kay Fidler in 2004. Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. in Camp Ruby in Livingston. Harry Gipson, minister, will officiate the services. Jerry was born Oc. 14, 1939, in Baytown. He married Ginger Eddings on Nov. 19, 1960. He had an outgoing personality and loved people. Jerry enjoyed the company of many friends. He loved spending time outdoors and one of his passions was fishing. He especially loved being with his family and his grandchildren. His many diverse business interests (restaurants, horses, sales, etc.) spiced up his life as well as the lives of others. Jerry loved the Lord and was ready to see Jesus face to face. Bill was born June 20, 1935, in Golden to James Clinton Bullard and Mattie Faye Branum. Bill served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1954-1958. On Oct. 12, 1956, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Peggy Ann Everhart, in Tucumcari, N.M. Bill taught metal trades at Palo Duro High School from 1970-1980. He then taught industrial cooperative trades at Canyon High School from 1980-1991. Bill was a talented wood carver, storyteller, fisherman, all around craftsman, and loved traveling the states. He loved working on his family genealogy and meeting distant relations. It has been said by those close to him that there was not one negative thing to be said in regards to his character. More than anything, Bill loved sharing the gospel of Christ. He preached at Faith City Mission, served as deacon of his church, and took the gospel to many lands. Special thanks are extended to his best friends Jimmy Marrs and Gary Jones; also to Dr. James Martindale, Dr. Kevin Raef, Dr. Eric Cox, Bob Thomas, Odyssey Health Care, and especially Ramona Pike. Mr. Jameson was born Nov. 18, 1939, in Amarillo and had been in the Fritch area for 38 years, coming from Beaver, Okla. Tommy was a graduate of Borger High School in 1957. He was a retired pump technician for Canadian River Municipal Water Authority and a member of the Fritch Church of Christ. He served in the U.S. Army and loved ranching, fishing, camping, hunting, and his grandkids. On June 5, 1993, he married Jeannette Jeanings in Fritch. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Rosaland on Aug. 22, 1988. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Earp was born Aug. 15, 1922, in Okra and came to Pampa in 1946 from Weinert. He served in the U. S. Army Air Force during World War II. He married Earlene "Ikey" Earp on Aug. 26, 1944, in Weinert. Mr. Earp worked in various oil field-related businesses from 1946 until his retirement from LSI, Inc. in 1996. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in 6th Street Church of Christ with Jeff Procter, her grandson, officiating. Private burial will precede in Friona Cemetery by Blackwell Funeral Home of Friona. She was born Aug. 6, 1920, in Vernon to Walter O. and Luetta Thomason Smith. She married Lawrence "Barney" Castleberry on March 11, 1939, in Vernon. He died Nov. 20, 1998. She graduated from Vernon High School in 1937. She was a homemaker and later a floral designer for 25 years. She was a longtime member of the Wilbarger St. Church of Christ in Vernon. She and Barney retired and moved to Friona in 1988, where she enjoyed crocheting, gardening and taking care of her family. She became a member of the 6th St. Church of Christ and in October 2000 she moved into Prairie Acres Nursing Home. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and two sisters. Survivors include a son, Larry Castleberry and wife Angela of Aledo; two daughters, Libby Procter and husband Ron of Fort Stockton and Ann Faver and husband David of Amarillo; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons. Louie Belvet George Sr., 91, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday and the funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, both in Mount Zion Baptist Church. The Rev. George was born Jan. 18, 1916, in Pittsburg to the Rev. Thomas E. George Jr. and Cleo Patria Hamilton. He pastored at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Fort Worth for 27 years before his retirement.
