Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors Mr. Price was born Oct. 21, 1936, in Vega. He graduated from Vega High School, where he was an outstanding athlete and ran the mile at state. He was a collegiate athlete in both football and basketball. After his graduation from West Texas State University, he taught in the Amarillo public schools. He also worked in the commercial building industry for more than 30 years. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Price; a daughter, Kim Heathington and husband Kim of Canyon; a son, Vince Price and wife Melinda of Plano; two grandchildren, Brandy Nogle and husband Shane of Canyon and David Heathington of Amarillo; three great-granddaughters, Reagan, Savannah and Trinity; a brother, Wilburn Price of Vega; a sister, Wanda Milburn of Vega; and many relatives and friends. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area W.O. Jones WHEELER - W.O. Jones, 88, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007, in Amarillo. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Stiles, pastor of Allison Baptist Church in Allison, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home. Mr. Jones was born June 24, 1918, in Womack to Lola Mae Poston Jones and Homer Jones Sr. He married Exie Errington on Dec. 10, 1935, in Wheeler. She preceded him in death on Aug. 22, 2005. Mr. Jones worked for the Texas Animal Health & Sciences Commission of Austin for many years. He also owned and operated Jones Sand & Gravel Co. in Amarillo for 20 years. Mr. Jones had lived in Amarillo for 51 years and in Wheeler for many years. He was a cowboy who loved his horses. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Wheeler, the American Quarter Horse Association and Will Rogers Range Riders of Amarillo. He was also preceded in death by two brothers. Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews as well as many friends; and a special friend, Pat Surtees of Amarillo. She was a member of First Christian Church. She was also a member of the Pampa Garden Club and a 50-year member of Pampa Chapter No. 65 Order of the Eastern Star. Joan was a World War II "Rosie the Riveter" and a medical transcriptionist. She was a Baptist. "Buck" Buckholt A.O. "Buck" Buckholt, 83, of Amarillo died Monday, Feb. 19, 2007. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St., with Iman Crawford officiating. Mr. Buckholt was born July 12, 1923, in Yantis, Wood County, to John and Pearl Buckholt. He worked most of his life at Southwest Prestress. He retired in October 1984. He loved traveling and fishing, and most of all he loved his family. He married Eileen Herbert on Oct. 13, 1945, in Reading, England. They were married for 61 years. He served in the Tactical Air Command in World War II. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Wanda Knightstep and husband Ronnie and Patsy Jordan and husband Steve, all of Amarillo, and Brenda Morris and husband Lonnie of Lubbock; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hodges was born Dec. 3, 1935, in Sherbrooke, Montreal, Canada, was raised there and was a graduate of Sherbrooke High School. She married Bill Hodges on Oct. 17, 1969, in Las Vegas. They moved to Amarillo in 1974 from Ogden, Utah. She was a flight instructor and instrument instructor on single-engine and multi-engine aircraft for many years. She was a commercial pilot for Baker & Taylor Drilling Co. for more than 10 years. She owned and operated Tradewind Flight School for 10 years. She sold the school in 2005 and had served as general manager and operator of the school for the past two years. She was a past member and served as Chapter Chairman of the Ninety Nines Women's Pilot Association, an international women's aviation association. She flew the Powder Puff Derby, a transcontinental airplane race in the 1970s. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Janet Edwards. Survivors include her husband, Bill Hodges; a daughter, Cynthia Wegman of Amarillo; a son, Reginald Platt IV of Dallas; two grandchildren, MacNeal "Mac" Wegman of Las Vegas and Nichole Yvette Wegman of Amarillo; and many nieces and nephews who loved her very much. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alma Lorene Wilson Alma Lorene Wilson, 98, of Amarillo died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Wilson was born Nov. 1, 1908, in Eastland County to Walter and Mona Johnson. The family moved to Collingsworth County in 1916. She married E.L. Wilson on Oct. 7, 1925. In 1943 they moved to Dumas. Mrs. Wilson worked in sales for Boxwell Furniture store and later for Southern Furniture store in Dumas. She retired in 1973. Later that year she and her husband moved to Amarillo. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Christian Friendship Class. She was a member of Woodmen of the World. She was preceded in death by her husband, E.L., in 1979; one brother; and four sisters. Survivors include three daughters, Margie Barnhart and Wilma Green and husband Harold, all of Amarillo, and Wanda Brady of Las Vegas; a brother, R.B. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel in Pampa with Nancy Ruff, CLP of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Pampa. Mrs. Gibson was born July 3, 1913, in Lipan, Hood County, to George Timothy and Carrie Virginia Hubbard Sears. Her mother died when she was 6 and her father when she was 8. Her older brothers and sisters shared in her upbringing. She loved and was loved by her family. She was a 1927 graduate of Lipan High School. She received her B.A. degree in 1932 at Texas Women's University (College of Industrial Arts) in Denton and her M.A. degree in 1940 at the University of Texas in Austin. She was a teacher in Texas public schools for more than 35 years. She taught in Arp, Troup and Kilgore before her marriage. She taught first grade at Sam Houston Elementary in Pampa from 1945 until her retirement in 1967. She loved first-graders and they returned that love. She took great pride in the accomplishments of those first-graders after they achieved adulthood. Esther Ruth was part of a great tradition of educators. Both of her grandfathers were teachers as were two sisters, three sisters-in-law and many of her nieces and nephews. She married J. E. Gibson on June 3, 1942, in Troup. They were married 64½ years at the time of his death on Dec. 27, 2006. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a 4,000-hour hospital auxiliary volunteer. She was also a member of the TSTA and Delta Kappa Gamma. She volunteered with Pampa Meals on Wheels and the American Cancer Society. She enjoyed playing bridge. The family wishes to thank John and Evanell Hart for their long friendship and continuous loving care so generously given to Esther Ruth and her late husband, Gib. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Marie Sears, Faye Sears Gilbert and Bessie Lea Sears Hendrick; and three brothers, James Ross Sears, George Vaughn Sears and Edwin Hansford "Ted" Sears; two nieces, Bobbie Lea Gilbert and Carrie Virginia Gilbert Baker; two nephews, Jack Vaughn Sears and Joseph Rodney Sears; and four brothers-in-law, George, William Clyde, Ernest Lee and Robert Watt Gibson. He graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1961. For more than 36 years he worked for SPS before moving to Colorado in 1997 to work for IBM Global Services, where he worked until his death. While living in Amarillo, Mr. Pitts was very active in the Amarillo Little Theater. He also was a member of the Crusader's Gospel Quartet and Trinity Fellowship Christian Church. Arrangements are by Hammons Funeral Home of Littlefield. Mr. Earles was born Nov. 1, 1923, in Eastland County to Francis Marion "Mike" and Mary Lela Earles. He grew up on the banks of the Jim Ned River near Coleman. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was sent to Germany as an enlisted soldier, returning in 1945 at the end of the war. He married Elsie Mae Holloway on Feb. 14, 1946, in McLean. They lived in McLean and Lefors until 2002 when they moved to Littlefield and later moved to the Runningwater Draw Care Center in Olton. He worked at many different jobs, such as managing a service station, a mechanic and a custodian at Lefors Independent School District, but he always returned to the oil fields. He worked as an oil field superintendent for 23 years. He had worked in the oil field from age 14 until retiring in the late 1990s. He was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by a son, James David Earles, on Feb. 20, 1984. Survivors include his wife, Elsie Mae Earles; a son, Billy Ray Earles and wife Margit of Columbia, Md.; a daughter, Wilma McMinn and husband Bill of Lilttlefield; two sisters, Juanita Oakley of Michigan and Lenora Ryan of Wheeler; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren.
