Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Street Church of Christ with Ben Merenes, pulpit minister at Georgetown Church of Christ, Dr. Edward Brown, his brother, and Art Lynch, minister, officiating. His body was donated to Texas Tech Medical School. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas. Edgar Richard Brown was born Jan. 8, 1923, in McClain County, Okla., near Purcell, to Richard Washington Brown and Mary Elizabeth McKinney Brown. He had worked as an engineer for Continental Carbon Black in Dumas before retiring. Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Brown; a daughter, Jane Alyse Ross of Searcy, Ark.; two sons, Richard Lyle Brown of Round Rock and Brant Lane Brown of Dumas; four grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and a brother, Dr. Edward Brown of Abilene. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Washburn Cemetery in Washburn. Mr. Casey was born Dec. 26, 1924, in Lockney to Robert and Linnie Whitlock Casey. He was part of the LST division that landed on Iwo Jima. On May 12, 1946, he married Cleta Casey in Clovis, N.M. Mr. Casey was a fun-loving man who never met a stranger. He was happiest when he was working on cars or hot rodding. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; a sister; and a son, Doyle Wayne Casey, in 1997. Survivors include his wife of 60 years; a son, William "Dub" Casey of Port Lavaca; a sister, Jean Johnson of Delores, Colo.; six grandchildren, Brett W. Matthews, Shaddon S. Casey, Shannen H. Casey, Jeremiah W. Casey, Shannon S. Lees and Dustin W. Ms. Calloway was born March 5, 1972, in Groom and had lived in Pampa most of her life. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1991 and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. "Slim" Chandler DALHART - Eldon D. "Slim" Chandler, 81, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007. Eldon Duane Chandler was born Feb. 19, 1926, in Ropesville to Wesley P. and Chloe J. Owens Chandler. "Slim" married Othella Stephens on March 31, 1945, in Lubbock - they moved to Dalhart in 1955. He was a distributor for Morton Foods. He later went to work for Texas Department of Transportation and retired after 27 years. An avid hunter, Slim enjoyed the outdoors and was an award-winning trap shooter. Slim enjoyed working with his hands and made custom knives that will remain a part of his legacy for years to come. Mr. Chandler was a member of Dalhart Masonic Lodge No. 869. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Audean Glosgow. Survivors include his wife, Othella Chandler; a son, Victor D. Helen was a member of Fairview Assembly of God in Amarillo, Sunday school and the senior citizens group. She married Leonard Hutson on Sept. 19, 1949, in Wichita, Kan. Mr. Keahey was born March 22, 1915, in Crawford. He married Novella Hillman on Dec. 20, 1939, in Crawford. They owned a small grocery store in Crawford before moving to White Deer in 1951. He worked as a machinist for Cabot for more than 10 years. He then worked for the White Deer Independent School District for more than 25 years. He was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church. He and two of his brothers were ordained on Feb. 15, 1951. He faithfully served the Lord all his life. He was preceded in death by a son, Dewayne Keahey in 1942; six brothers, Leon Keahey, Edwin Keahey, Vernon Keahey, Johnny Keahey, L.B. Keahey and Gerald Keahey; and a sister, Lois Painter. Georgia St. Mrs. Ragan was born and raised in Amarillo. She graduated from Amarillo High School, attended Abilene Christian University and finished with a bachelor's degree from West Texas State University. She married Lee Ragan on May 27, 1954, in Amarillo. She was a former board member and volunteer at Ronald McDonald House. She was very active in the Amarillo High School Alumni Association and with the Amarillo Alzheimer's Group. She devoted her life to her husband, daughters, and grandchildren. She was member of The Church of Christ at the Colonies. "J.D." Ayers Sr. James D. "J.D." Ayers Sr., 77, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Llano Cemetery with John Elser, chaplain of the Thomas E. Creek VA Medical Center, officiating. Military honors will be by the Fort Sam Houston Honor Guard. A second memorial service will be in Alaska at a later date. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Ayers was born Dec. 26, 1929, in Lefors to Wayland and Ruby Ayers. He was raised in McLean and Alanreed. Mr. Ayers married Louise Preston in 1947. In 1951, he married Annie Ruth Chapman. Mr. Ayers joined the Army in 1950. He served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. His military career spanned more than 20 years. He entered the Army as a cook and advanced to other positions. He retired in 1972 at Fort Richardson, Alaska, as a microwave technician. After his retirement from the Army, he worked for the Alyeska Pipeline Service Co., retiring in 1991. After his retirement in 1991, he lived in Texas during the winter and in Alaska during the summer, where he enjoyed halibut fishing and spending time with his special friends. Mr. Ayers raised registered beagles; all 18 were very special to him and a few even traveled to Alaska with him. He was a Church of Christ member. Mr. Ayers was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, in 1999; his parents; a sister; and two brothers. Memorial services were Feb. 20 in her home for friends and all of her wonderful caregivers. Private family memorial services will be in Helena, Ark. Dorothy was born in Helena to Fred and Blanche Dever. Helena was on the Mississippi River, where Dorothy's most cherished childhood memories were held. Mrs. Bingham was born Nov. 7, 1947, in Greenville, and was raised in Dangerfield. She moved to Amarillo in the early 1980s, where she married her husband, Raymond Bingham, and they raised their three children. She was a member of Palisades Fellowship Baptist Church. She became a correctional officer at the Neal Unit in 2000. She was an animal lover and a caregiver to many people, but her children and grandchildren were the focal point of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hoyt and Bobbie Gilmore; a brother, R.A. "Butch" Wisener Jr.; a granddaughter, Sadie Lynn McMahan; and her grandmother, Maude Gilmore. Private burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Melonye Curtis died in the early hours of Feb. 22, 2007. She was born Nov. 14, 1936, in Fort Worth to J.D. and Mildred Lowe. She grew up in Jacksonville and attended Jacksonville schools. She entered The University of Texas at age 17 and graduated with a B.A. degree in education. Later, while teaching and raising her family, she received her master's degree in education in early childhood from Texas Woman's University. After her graduation from The University of Texas, she married Terry A. "Booty" Curtis and moved to Amarillo. Melonye's career course was directed by her love for young children. Her teaching career began in Austin, and she later taught in Amarillo. She was instrumental at Amarillo's Opportunity School by helping in every way from teaching to driving the school bus. In 1979, she started her career at Amarillo College in the Early Child Development Program. She retired as full professor from AC after 26 years. She developed many innovative new programs and methods which are still in use today at Amarillo College and other early childhood programs around the state. She was named professor emeritus at Amarillo College in 2006, a proud accomplishment for Melonye and her family. Although her calling was for young children, her greatest passion was for her family, her hundreds of friends and her beloved dogs, Luke and Gracie. Melonye and Terry were married for 49 years and have one daughter and one son. She was blessed with two grandchildren, who adored their "Mummy." Melonye had many interests and affiliations. Modesty limits the inclusion of all accomplishments and accolades that she received throughout her lifetime. Melonye was always an advocate for the underdog and underprivileged and spent countless hours as a volunteer for many organizations that need her enthusiasm and expertise. The impact she had on so many lives over the years was as far- reaching as the sky, and now Melonye sits on a rainbow. Survivors include her husband, Terry A. Curtis; a daughter, Caytie Martin; a son-in-law, Barry Martin; a son, Tom Curtis; and two grandchildren, Chad and Channing Martin. Chris was born Nov. 8, 1973, in Amarillo. He attended schools in Amarillo and Hereford. He married Jaelyn Allen in June 2003 in Amarillo. He worked for Inter-Rail Transport Co. as an operations manager full-time, but also had many side jobs that he loved. He was a member of Trinity Fellowship Church and also attended First Assembly of God as a child. Chris was a free spirit who was full of life. He touched so many people from all walks of life with his personality and his huge brown eyes and smile. He had a love for motorcycles, riding his four-wheelers, skiing, playing with his dog, Cojack, and the love of the art of tattoos, but none compared to the love that he had for his wife, Jaelyn, his daughters, JayCee and Taylor, and his family. Chris was talented at anything he put his mind to, from Kwahadi Indian dancing as a child, to woodwork, cake decorating, carpentry and helping his daughters in all their sporting events. He was always ready to help anyone out with anything at all costs. He will be missed by many. We, the family, would like to send our deepest gratitude for the care and love from the staff at BSA, Critical Care Unit. He was preceded in death by his father, James David Walker; and his grandmother, Venna Ferguson-Walker. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Margaret Friemel was born Feb. 5, 1925, to Anna Tucek and Clarence Friemel in Amarillo. She was a longtime resident of Randall County. She was a homemaker. Margaret married Alvin Friemel on April 26, 1944, in Umbarger. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and active in the 4-H Club, Extension Homemakers, and Umbarger Altar Society. She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 14, 1973. Survivors include a son, Wayne Friemel of Canyon; two daughters, Virginia Haeberle of Sacramento, Calif., and Cynthia Boston of Springtown; and a sister, Elizabeth Ann Brockman of Amarillo. Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Funeral Home Chapel. A private family burial will be Thursday in West End Cemetery in Stephenville. Mr. Dorris was retired from many years in the tire business, both in San Angelo and owning Dorris Tire Store in Bay City. He had many interests in history, aviation and music and always had a smile and a gentle way. Mr. Dorris became a Mason in 1955. Mr. Dorris served in the U.S. Air Force. After his Air Force service, Mr. Dorris settled in Texas, living in Ozona, San Angelo, Bay City and Haltom City. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Ella Dorris; and his second wife, Bobbie Dorris. Vosper FORT SMITH, Ark. - Bradley M. Vosper, 85, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Lewis Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in U.S. National Cemetery. Mr. Vosper was born April 28, 1921, in Staten Island, N.Y. He was a World War II veteran of the 88th Infantry Divison 313 Medical Battalion and was awarded the Bronze Star. Mr. Grayson had been a Guymon resident since 1957, working for Panhandle Telephone until 1974 and retiring as an animal control officer for the city in 1993.
