Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Amarillo South Church with Charlie Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home. Jarrod was born in Wichita Falls and moved to Amarillo in 1972. He attended Margaret Wills Elementary as well as Sundown Lane Elementary Schools. He attended Canyon High School and the Radiology school at Amarillo College. He married Stormie Williams on Oct. 22, 2004, in Amarillo. He worked for Wheelabrator Coal Service for ten years as well as United Plumbing before becoming a Boilermaker. Jarrod loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, rock music and cooking. He was a member of Amarillo South Church. Survivors include his wife, Stormie Norman of Amarillo; her two sons, Ty Williams and Colt Williams, both of Amarillo; a son, Jeramy Norman of Carrolton; two daughters, Brooke Norman and Journi Norman, both of Carrolton; his parents, Jerry and Sue Norman of Timbercreek Canyon; a brother, Jeff Norman of Amarillo; and his grandmother, Irene Close of Childress. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Kimble was born March 13, 1927, in Fort Worth to George and Thelma Nolen. Lou graduated from Texas Tech College in 1942. She was a licensed Texas interior designer. She moved to Amarillo in 1954. Lou began color counseling on new houses in 1961. She owned Contract Furniture until she retired in 1975. She married Jerry Kimble on March 31, 1973. He preceded her in death in 2006. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in St. Stephen United Methodist Church with Dr. James Smith and Dr. James Stan Cosby of First United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City officiating. Mr. Thomson was born May 12, 1935, in Tolbert to Dr. Hubert and Mrs. Carmen Thomson. He married Nancy Kay Dewey on April 15, 1966 in Amarillo. He graduated from West Texas State University with a bachelor of science degree in 1957. He taught physical education and health at Lawndale Elementary School for 35 years. He was a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church and Wesley Workers Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Glenn Thomson and Carlton Thomson. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mrs. Sloss was born Sept. 25, 1926, in Clarendon, and grew up in Oklahoma. She was a wonderful seamstress, loved to make quilts, and enjoyed cooking. Family was an important thing to her, and she went out of her way to care for them. Jo was very strong at heart, and was loved by many. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Sloss. Survivors include two daughters, Pat Mincher and Jerri Pate, both of Amarillo; a son, Dale Sloss of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lois Peters Lois Peters, 86, of Amarillo died Monday, Feb. 26, 2007. Mrs. Peters was born in Potomac, Ill. She married Bruce Peters on Dec. 7, 1948, in Champaign, Ill.. Mrs. Peters worked at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch office for 27 years. She retired in 1995. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Peters on March 14, 2006. He was raised in the Texas panhandle area, graduating from Palo Duro High School in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Howard and Cole Goldsmith officiating. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle. Mr. McLeod was born Dec. 30, 1912, in Pontotoc. He had been a Panhandle resident for 65 years. He married Beulah Faye Holloway on Jan. 9, 1934, in Valley Springs. She preceded him in death on Dec. 26, 2002. He retired in 1973 as an operator for Phillips Copoly Plant. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Scott Curtis. Survivors include a son, Bill McLeod of Panhandle; a daughter, Mary Curtis of Panhandle; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren. The family will be at 110 E. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lewis Holland, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Plainview, officiating. Burial will follow in Miami Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Cunningham was born Sept. 5, 1910, in Clay County. She moved to Miami in 1925 with her parents, W. B. and Mary Hannah Walker. She graduated from Miami High School. She married Joe J. Cunningham on June 29, 1931, in Cheyenne, Okla. He preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 1980. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, serving as treasurer and organist, and was a life member of the Wesleyan Service Guild. She was a member and past matron of the Miami Chapter #98 Order of the Eastern Star. She served as vice president and treasurer of the Order of the Eastern Star Gavel Club in Pampa, and held a dual membership in the New Mexico Bethel Chapter #15 of Tucumcari. Mildred was most proud that she was a three time winner of the National Cow Calling Contest in the Grandmother Division. In 1957 she was appointed Justice of the Peace of Pct. 1 of Roberts County. She served for 29 years, retiring in 1986. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Joe Litchfield; a son- in-law, Calvin Litchfield; three sisters, May Cunningham, Dortha Airhart and Catherine Fazzi; and two brothers, Frank Walker and Ernest Walker. Survivors include a son, Toby Cunningham and wife Jeannie of Panhandle; a daughter, Ruth Ann Litchfield of Tucumcari, N.M; four grandchildren, Donny Cunningham of League City, Sam Cunningham of Amarillo, Nikki Smith of Lockney and Leslie Brusa of Las Vegas, Nev.; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great- great-grandson; a sister, Helen Philpott and husband Kint of Pampa. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Bethel Assembly of God with the Rev. Josh Morris, pastor, officiating and Rev. H. L. Stevens, retired minister, assisting. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa. Velma Edith VanStraten was born March 16, 1908, to Blymyer Martin and Hattie Jessie Terry Lester in Oklahoma Indian Territory. She married Hillon R. Braly on June 30,1929, in Wheeler, and they had three children: Dovie Jean Braly, James Robert Braly and Larry Wayne Braly. They lived in Wheeler, Shamrock, Magic City and for a short time in Wauka, where Hillon worked as a custodian and Velma worked in the school cafeteria as a cook. They moved to Pampa, where Hillon retired and preceded her in death in March of 1970. On March 3, 1971, she married Joseph A. VanStraten in Pampa and they relocated in Dumas. They enjoyed working in the yard and were very good gardeners. One summer they won the "Garden of the Week" award. Mr. VanStraten preceded her in death in 1990. Velma was a very loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Her life demonstrated the characteristics of the "Proverbial Woman" described in the Book of Proverbs. She devoted herself to her family and to her Church. She loved children and babies and worked for many years in her Church nursery in Pampa. She participated faithfully in her Church, Bethel Assembly of God, in Dumas, and was an important part of the Women's Ministries group. She believed in the importance of Church outreach and world evangelism and supported many missionary programs. She made numerous quilts for missionaries and was a faithful follower of her Lord and Savior. She was well thought of by her friends and family, and when needs arose, everyone had confidence in her faithfulness to pray and intercede on their behalf. She also made clothes for her family as well as for numerous nieces and nephews and she was a wonderful cook and hostess. She loved gardening, canning fruits, vegetables and making jelly. She was an avid fisherwoman and had the patience of Job when baiting the grandkids' hooks and untangling their fishing lines. She enjoyed camping out and traveling to visit friends and loved ones. Velma came from a large family having nine other siblings and loved to surround herself with family. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dovie Collins, in 1998; a son, James Robert Braly, who was killed in action in the Korean War; and a grandson, David Collins in 1993. Survivors include a son, Larry Wayne Braly and wife Carolyn of Longview; a sister, Alma Mitchell of Fort Worth; three grandchildren, Chris Collins, Larry and Bettye Collins, and Regina and Ronnie Hatter; seven great- grandchildren, Cary Ann Collins, Catrina and Leonard Jaramillo, Tiffany and Michael Mitchell, Justin and Michelle Collins, Alyn and Joley Hatter, Amy and Brian Lindahl and Andrew Hatter; and five great-great grandchildren, Seth Mitchell, Ethan Lindahl, Elizabeth Lindahl, Chance Collins and Montgomery Hatter.
