Gary was a loving husband, father, son and brother. He was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip James Green. Mrs. Peters was born in Potomac, Ill., in 1920. She married Bruce Peters on Dec. 7, 1948, in Champaign, Ill. Mrs. Peters worked at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch office for 27 years. She retired in 1995. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Peters, on March 14, 2006. She married Andrew Alexander on Nov. 25, 1944, in Santa Anna, Calif. The couple had lived here since 1965, previously residing in Knippa, Hondo, and San Antonio. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1994. She retired from Mesa Petroleum Co. in 1985 after many years of service. Mrs. Alexander was a longtime member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, where she was very active in church activities, including Keen-Agers. Mrs. Alexander had been an accomplished seamstress and took great pleasure in making ceramics to give as gifts. She also loved working in her garden. Lucille was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by the many lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew; her parents; her mother-in- law, Anna Mae; and two sisters, Dorothy Handsel and Syble Farrow. Shoemaker Bob J. Shoemaker, 72, of Amarillo died Monday, Feb. 26, 2007. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Donna Johnston, associate pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Shoemaker was born May 8, 1934, in Lexington, Mo., to Aletha Elkins Shoemaker and George W. Shoemaker Sr. The family moved to Roswell, N.M., in 1936 where Bob grew up. He joined the Navy in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1955. He was in the Reserve from 1955 to 1961. He joined the Army in 1961 during the Vietnam crisis. On May 25, 1979, he married Juanita Putman. Mr. Shoemaker was an avid dirt car and race car builder and driver for more than 10 years. In addition to his love for racing, he was a passionate fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Tech, the Texas Longhorns and the NASCAR and Indy races. Bob was an industrial truck mechanic, service manager and customer service representative for about 40 years at Medley Equipment and a service manager at Western Clark Forklift for a few years. He was a life member of the VFW and DAV. A special thank you to Dr. William Banister and the BSA staff that cared for Bob during his hospitalization. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aletha and George W. Sr.; a brother, George W. Jr.; and a sister, Betty Morrison. Private family burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. McAlpine was born Dec. 2, 1920, in Waco to George and Beulah Mae Graves. She received a B.A. from Abilene Christian University and did graduate work at Tulane University. During World War II she worked for the Red Cross in the recreation services department. She then moved to Amarillo and worked for the Texas Department of Public Welfare as a case manager and supervisor. After raising her children, she worked for the Amarillo Hospital District at the Psychiatric Geriatric Outpatient Program. She volunteered at the Amarillo Art Center as a docent and at NWTH Auxiliary. She served on the board of deacons at First Presbyterian Church and was active in many additional church programs and activities. Mrs. McAlpine was active in numerous bridge clubs and participated in the Tascosa Country Club Women's Golf Association. She married Dugald Perry McAlpine Jr. on July 23, 1953, in Abilene. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983. Survivors include a daughter, Becky Johnson and husband Danny of Amarillo; a son, Dugald "Dug" P. McAlpine III and wife Cherie of Lubbock; a sister, Gay Myatt and husband Frontz of Amarillo; a sister-in-law, Lois Peterson of Odessa; a brother, George Douglas Graves of Abilene; four grandchildren, Jessica and Stephanie Johnson of Amarillo and Taylor and Anne McAlpine of Lubbock; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Mrs. Blackerby was born Aug. 30, 1928, in Springtown to J.L. and Hazel Jennings. She graduated from Azle High School where she was selected and recognized with a "Who's Who" award for athletics. She married Herbert Loyd on June 1, 1946. He preceded her in death in October 1989 after 43 wonderful years of marriage. Mrs. Blackerby was a longtime member of Arden Road Baptist Church. She retired from J.C. Penney Custom Decorating Department after more than 25 years of service. After retirement, she worked for Penneys as a consultant for several more years. Mrs. Blackerby continued to pitch on a softball team until she was 70 years of age. She played on women's and on mixed teams throughout her lifetime. She was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Fannon; and a brother, Louie Jennings. Mr. Duggins was born Feb. 28, 1925, in Cordell, Okla., to Irving and Lee Ora Jennings Duggins. He married Margaret Cox on June 7, 1953, in Griggs, Okla. He moved to Friona in August 1955 from Stratford. He was a longtime educator. He taught and coached in Beaver, Okla., and Stratford before moving to Friona. In Friona he had been a classroom teacher, coach, junior high principal and high school counselor, retiring from the Friona ISD in 1985. His high school girls basketball team won State Championship in 1964 with a 35-0 record. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Marines, where he received a purple heart. He was a member of Friona United Methodist Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher and served on the administrative board, council on ministries and pastoral committee. He was a past president of the Friona Noon Lions Club, board member of the Panhandle MHMR, board member of Panhandle Community Services, and a member of TSTA and the Texas Retired Teachers Association. He was named Friona's Man of the Year in 1964. Survivors include his wife; a son, Phillip Duggins of Houston; a daughter, Sharla Carter and husband Tony of Amarillo; and two granddaughters, Abbey and Holly Carter. Sesario was born April 8, 1925, in Brackettville to Romaldo and Eulalia Saenz. He married Eva Fuentez on Dec. 6, 1951, in Clovis, N.M. He was a farmer most of his life and a longtime member of Immaculate Conception of Mary Catholic Church. He was a cancer survivor for many years, and he served voluntarily as a cook for the U.S. Army. He served with the Texas Rangers in the late 1940s and also served as a deputy sheriff in Lamb County in the early 1960s. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
