Memorial services were Feb. 20 in her home for friends and all of her wonderful caregivers. Private family memorial services will be in Helena, Ark. Dorothy was born in Helena to Fred and Blanche Dever. Helena was on the Mississippi River, where Dorothy's most cherished childhood memories were held. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Pattie; and a granddaughter, Crissie. Survivors include two brothers, William Dever and wife Grace and Kent Wadell; a sister, Judy Clack; three sons, Brent Hall, Jay Don Hall and wife Angela and Stephen Hall and wife Susan; two daughters, Melissa Hall and Sandra Kirkwood and husband Jim; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three nephews. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. McKnight was born Feb. 14, 1932, to Edith McKnight. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was drafted by the Brooklyn Dodgers after graduating from Amarillo High School in 1950. He owned and operated Plainsman Auto Body in Apple Valley, Calif., for many years. His many hobbies included woodworking and golf. He had a love for others and dreamed of winning the lottery so that he could help others. He loved the Lord and was a longtime member of Irwin Road Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the Odyssey Hospice field team for the excellent care that was given to Mr. McKnight. He was preceded in death by his mother; and his firstborn son, Terry Gene McKnight. Survivors include his wife, Molly McKnight; a son, Larry A. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Coach Harris was born Sept. 15, 1930, in Vega to Claude and Bernice Harris. He married Jacqueline Wright on Feb. 14, 1952, in Canyon. He was a standout athlete who began his coaching career as an assistant football coach at Stratford in 1955 and coached for 27 years, including 17 years as head coach. He coached at Vega 1955-56, Phillips 1956-68, South Garland 1969-71 and Tascosa High School 1972-81. His overall record was 97-79-3, which included five district titles. He remained at Tascosa as a teacher until he retired in 1989. Harris was inducted into the Texas High School Coaches Association's Hall of Honor in July 1996. Arrangements are by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive, in Amarillo. Mrs. Garrett was born Oct. 29, 1928, to Joseph and Gladys Bowers in Bakersfield. She married Richard Dean Garrett Sr. on Nov. 11, 1946, in Fanshawe, Okla., when she was 18 and he was 20. They moved to Amarillo in 1950. Richard was the superintendent for Stockton Construction during the design and construction of Lake Stockton, which is now Lake Tangelwood. They lived in a house that Richard built on Apache Street while living in Amarillo. Mr. Garrett preceded her in death in 1961 when he was killed in a heavy equipment accident during the construction of the lake. Ruth moved back to California in 1963 and was living there at the time of her death. Her wishes were to be returned to Amarillo to be buried at her husband's side.
