Mrs. Johnson was born Dec. 20, 1943, in Greenville and has lived in the area since 1979. She married Dale Johnson on March 20, 1974, in Rockwell. She was the office manager, receptionist and dental assistant for her husband. While in Greenville, she was president of the junior league, president of Beta Sigma Phi, president of the PTA and was president of the bowling league. While in Perryton she was president of Phi Lambda and president of Jennie June. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Perryton. She was preceded in death by her father, Billy John Erwin. Survivors include her husband, Dale Johnson; three sons, Jason Johnson and wife Laurie of Plainview, Andy Johnson and wife Ruth of Rockwall and Perry Johnson of Greenville; her mother, Gene Erwin of Arlington; a sister Lisa Erwin of Arlington; and seven grandchildren. Mr. Edwards was born April 7, 1926, in Wheeler County to John Gwyn and Eunice Helton Edwards. He has lived in Wheeler Co. all his life. He attended school in Briscoe. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and The American Legion. He had served in the US Army in heavy artillery during WW II. Mr. Edwards managed the Wheeler Lumber Co. for 60 years. "Wayne" McNeill, 90, died Monday, March 5, 2007, in Amarillo. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mr. R.W. "Wayne" McNeill was born May 11, 1916, in Electra. He has been a resident of Armstrong County since 1929, where he farmed and ranched. He married Geneva Broom in Quanah on Sept. 22, 1940. She preceded him in death on November 6, 2006. He was an avid hunter, a master wood worker, and a great story teller. He loved his family and entertaining family and friends. He was a member of the University Church of Christ. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Camille Rhodes, in 2005; and a son, John McNeill, in 2004. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with the Rev. Richard Murray of New Light Ministry officiating. Military detail will be provided by the Blue Knights Honor Guard of Altus Air Force Base in Altus, Okla. Mr. Edwards served proudly in the US Air Force for 21 years. He was an avid fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks, Atlanta Braves, and Palo Duro High School. He coached for Kids Incorporated. He loved sports in general. His favorite pastime was watching western movies. He loved to tell stories about his childhood and his growing up years. He remembered all of their names and their antics. He would tell them to anyone that would listen. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and two sisters. Survivors include his wife, Martha Edwards; a son Mike Edwards and wife Debra of Amarillo; two stepdaughters, Cheryl Bouthwell of Amarillo and Becky Fox of Houston; a sister, Mavis Rhodes of NewPort Ark.; two grandsons, Dwayne and Cory Edwards; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ida Silverfox Ida Silverfox, 49, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007. Survivors include three daughters, Lynette Young of Pikeville, N.C., Valerie White of Bastrop, La., and LeAndra Miller of Cincinnati, Iowa; and eight grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jesse Lee Aldridge Jesse Lee Aldridge, 95, of Amarillo died Sunday, March 4, 2007. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Church of Christ at The Colonies with Glen Walton and Dick Marcear officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Aldridge was born Oct. 20, 1911, in Ovalo to John and Ollie Papasan Aldridge. He was the oldest of four children. His family moved to Hedley when he was two years old and grew up on a cotton farm and attended school there also. He worked on a farm in Claude, where he met his wife, Louise Jones. They married on Dec. 23, 1934. They moved to Amarillo, and he started working for the original Amarillo Smelter Plant. He worked there for several years before joining the Amarillo Fire Department in August 1945. He was affectionately known as "Lightnin" at the fire department. He retired from the fire department in February 1977 after 30 1/2 years of service. He was the oldest living member of the fire department before his death. Mr. Aldridge was active up until the last year of his life. He loved all of the outdoors and to roam around in Palo Duro Canyon on a private family ranch. He loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of the Amarillo Professional Fire Fighters, the Quarter Century Club and the Panhandle Chapter of the Barbed Wire Association. His barbed wire collection is on display at the Armstrong County Museum in Claude. He was a longtime member of Southwest Church of Christ and the last year of his life, at Church of Christ at The Colonies. He was a very kind and loving man and will be missed by all. Everyone who knew him was blessed. The family would like to thank Betty and Joe Barreras of Heavenly Angels Home for the wonderful care they provided for their Dad in his last days and also to VistaCare Hospice for their excellent care. He was preceded in death by his wife in May 1993; and three sisters, Lena Mae, Ruby and Jonnie. She married Paul Dacus in April, 1968. Mrs. Dacus was an adventurous woman who doted on her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She was an avid reader and liked jigsaw puzzles. She lived in Childress for over 30 years and owned Joy's Potpourri there for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul in 1987; and a daughter, Elaine on Oct. 18, 2004. Survivors include a son, Larry Wiley, of Oklahoma City; a sister, Nancy Thompson of Oklahoma City; a brother, James R. Ferguson, 87, died Saturday, March 3, 2007, in Lubbock. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Kenneth Broad officiating. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales. Mr. Ferguson was born Sept. 14, 1919, near Durant, Okla., to Nellie and John T. Ferguson. Harold grew up near Paris, Texas, until the age of 10 or 12, when they moved to Spur. He worked as a cowboy in that area until World War II began. He served in the Aleutian Islands in the Army with the 82nd Airborne, as well as with other units. After the war was over, he returned to west Texas, where he again worked as a cowboy. On Sept. 4, 1948, in Durant, Okla., he married Ruby Mae Ross. In 1952 he went to work for the ATandSF Railroad, and retired as a car man in the early 1980's, after more than 30 years of service. He worked out of the Belen yard until 1972, when he moved to Portales and began working out of the Clovis yard. Harold did some form of farming and ranching his whole life, and was especially fond of his Jersey cows. He also liked doing mechanic work and repairing clocks. Mr. Ferguson was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby, who died Mar. 31, 2003; his parents; four brothers, Ed, Raymond, and Roy Ferguson as well as one who died in infancy; and two sisters, Ola Brewer and Annie Lewellen. Survivors include two sons, Frank Ferguson and wife June of Portales and Milton Ferguson and wife Francine of Peralta; seven grandchildren, Rusty Ferguson, Shonda Andrews, Melanie Lee, Kari Dutton, Laura Bond, James Metzger, and Jennifer Metzger; and 10 great-grandchildren.
