Georgia St. Mrs. Blackburn was born in Childress and moved to Amarillo at a young age. She graduated from Amarillo High School. She married Wyatt W. Blackburn in 1949. He passed away in 2000. She was a bookkeeper for General Office Supply for many years. She was a member of Bell Avenue Church of Christ. She was also preceded in death by a son, Daven Morris Blackburn, in 1993. Survivors include a daughter, Vicki Blackburn of Euless; a son, Wyatt D. Blackburn and wife Debbie of Southlake; two sisters, Nelda "Spud" Wortham of Amarillo and Mary Branam of Canyon Country, Calif.; two grandchildren, Woodie and Taylor Blackburn of Southlake; and numerous nieces and nephews. She graduated from Baylor Dental College in 1964 as a registered dental hygienist and practiced for 18 years. She married John L. Anderson in Dallas. They were married for 35 years. She and her husband owned and operated Anderson's Travel Inc. for 12 years in Hobbs, N.M. Mrs. Anderson was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hobbs before moving to Amarillo in 1986. She was a lifetime member of Amarillo Symphony Guild, Lone Star Ballet Guild, Art Museum Alliance and Art Force, serving on the board for six years. She joined the Amarillo Museum of Art as a docent in 1990 and served for seven years. She served on the Children's Rehabilitation Center Board for four years, the High Plains Epilepsy Board for three years and was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Norrie Maciel of Clovis, N.M., Kristie Condry of Dallas and Lisa Papapietro of Sudbury, Mass.; a brother, Frank M. Survivors include a daughter; and a granddaughter. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- EB Eugene "Gene" Bragg Clark Jr. EB Eugene "Gene" Bragg Clark Jr., 79, of Amarillo died Saturday, March 10, 2007. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Polk Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lane Boyd, senior pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Clark was born Feb. 27, 1928, in Wichita Falls to Gracye D. Shamburger Clark and Eugene B. Clark Sr. He attended Kemper Military School and joined Merchant Marines in December 1944. He served in the South Pacific until the Japanese surrendered in late 1945. He was discharged from Merchant Marines in 1946. He attended the University of Texas and went into family oil and gas business until joining the U.S. Marine Corps in 1950 through January 1952. He returned to the family oil and gas business in Texas and Canada and ranching interest in the northern Panhandle of Texas. Mr. Clark lived in Denver and his ranch in Texline for 20 years; he then moved to Amarillo in 1998. In 1987, he married Ruth C. Clark in Denver. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Bragg Clark and Kiel Clark and wife Maryolys, all of Richmond, Va., and Jim Hopson and wife Laurine of Canby, Minn.; a daughter, Patricia Johnson and husband Brad of Littleton, Colo.; his second family, Bronson Rumsey and family of Brimfield, Ill.; and four grandchildren, Russell Gene, Andrea, Justin and Christopher. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Miss Brown was born March 23, 1983, in Arlington to Keith and Lonitta Wells Brown. She attended Fossil Ridge High School in Fort Worth and was on the "A" honor roll. Her love for softball fast pitch kept her busy. She played select fast pitch and at age 15, she was able to practice center field with the USA Women's Fast Pitch Team. She also went to nationals many times with her team and had won many awards. At age 17, she attended Caprock High School in Amarillo and played on the varsity fast pitch team with the highest batting average of the school in 2001. God may have called Callie home, but by donating her organs, she saved five people who are now considered family members. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Carroll and June Brown and an uncle, Steve Brown. Mr. Dean was born May 28, 1959, in Fayetteville, N.C., to Claude and Homsie Dean. He had worked for the city of Amarillo as a street cleaner. Prior to that, he had worked for Willis-Shaw Trucking Co., where he received numerous rewards for safety. Mr. Hutchinson was born Aug. 1, 1952, in Hempstead N.Y., to Joseph Harry Hutchinson and Helen Hutchinson. Joe was a military dependant so he lived many places as a child. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1976 to 1980. After leaving the Air Force, he was a Wichita Falls police officer. He lived in Wichita Falls for 20 years. He moved to Amarillo in March 2006 to be closer to his son, Jason Michael Hutchinson. Joe worked for the Frito-Lay Co. here in Amarillo. He was a very loving father and friend to his son and all of those he loved and who loved him, but has now gone to be with his father who preceded him in death in 1992 and his Heavenly Father. Joe, we already miss you, your hugs, gorgeous blue eyes, great compliments and warm smile! Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Umbarger with the Rev. Ken Keller officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Umbarger by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mr. Liekhus was born July 7, 1952, in Umbarger and lived in Umbarger and Amarillo all of his life. He was a 1970 graduate of Canyon High School. He married Marcia Gabel on June 30, 1973, in Amarillo. He worked for TCA Cable from 1977 until 1999 and worked as a subcontractor until his retirement in 2006. He battled cancer for 16 years before his death on Thursday. He built a large "Angel Cabinet" that is placed on the second floor of the Harrington Cancer Center. The cabinet is filled with angels that have been brought to the center. He loved having cookouts with his friends, riding his motorcycle, growing roses and most of all, he loved being "PaPa" to his two grandchildren, Tanner and Tennsea. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Rose Liekhus. Survivors include his wife; a son, Joe Liekhus and wife Akaisha of Amarillo; two grandchildren; two brothers, Delbert Liekhus of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Elbert Liekhus of Tacoma, Wash.; and three sisters, Barbara Grisham of Topeka, Kan., Louetta Gabel of Amarillo and Angela Sadberry of Odessa. On June 21, 1974, she married Fred Doak in San Diego, and had been a Stinnett resident since 1977. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Stinnett. He worked as a truck driver and also worked in the oil fields. After his retirement, he enjoyed working as a handyman. Mr. Easley was an avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Holt of Dumas; two sons, Mike Stinnett of Dumas and Kenneth Easley of Amarillo; two grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. A public memorial and praise service will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday in More Church in Amarillo. Arrangements are by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive, in Amarillo. Mr. Myers was born Jan 15, 1934, in Ardmore, Okla., to Buford and Clydie Myers. He spent most of his childhood in Ardmore and graduated from Ardmore High School. He spent his life involved in the care and welfare of neglected and needy children. He attended Abilene Christian College, where he married Carla Willis on June 17, 1955. He earned a degree in education and taught fifth grade in Corpus Christi and later moved to Lubbock as a social worker. He then earned his master's degree in social work from the University of Texas. Donald had many accomplishments in his life and lived in numerous places as a social worker. He was the administrator for the Presbyterian Children's Home in Amarillo from 1976 through 1981, and he also built the Miracle Farm for Children while living in Brenham. He was the administrator for GirlsTown USA in Borger for several years and ran the Amarillo State Center for nine years before retiring in 1997, when he and Carla moved to Howardwick to run the Lakeside Marina at Greenbelt Lake, where he was known as "Pops" to everyone. Mr. Myers had a heart for children and touched countless lives. He sponsored a native Nigerian boy through Bible School at Christ for the Nations in Dallas, and he and Carla provided foster homes for many children, and they were providing a foster home for children at the time of his death. His family remembers him as the "most loving" and "most loved" man anyone could ever know. He was a kind and compassionate witness for the Lord Jesus Christ and was an "awesome man of God." Mr. Myers was a member of More Church in Amarillo. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ann. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Darla Yowell and husband Jimmy of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Terri Gammage and husband Ron, Patti Conner and Carol Vansickle, all of Amarillo; two sons, Jerry Myers and wife Janice of Amarillo and John Richard Myers of Weatherford; a sister, Pat Williams and husband James of Lake Kiowa; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Nials was born Oct. 3, 1931, near Hudson, N.M., to John Linden Nials and Ethel Laurinda Payton Nials. He married Ada L. Evans on Feb. 14, 1989. Burial will be in Bertrand Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas. Mrs. Jacobs was born Oct. 23, 1916, in Texhoma, Okla., to James Henry Settles and Nell Settles. She had worked as a lab technician at NWTH and Cimmaron County Hospital. She had also worked as a nursing home administrator in Texhoma and Clayton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd G. Jacobs, and a son, James Mikel Jacobs. Born Sept. 9, 1917, in Amarillo, Mary Whitfield was the daughter of William Penson and Esther Carter Reed. She entered St. Anthony's Hospital School of Nursing in Amarillo in 1935 and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1938. She worked in hospitals and private practice before marrying "Jim Bill" on Nov. 10, 1940, in Amarillo, Texas. She resumed her nursing career after the death of her husband and continued until her retirement. Throughout her life her greatest joys were her love of nursing and her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, James William "Jim Bill" Whitfield Jr.; and two sisters, Zenobia "Nobie" Bradford and Margaret West. Survivors include her children, Judith Ann Freund and husband Karl of Orion, Mich., Janice Kay Matthews and husband Robert of Dayton and William Reed Whitfield and wife Christie of Simpsonville, S.C.; and a sister, Deanie Beaver of Amarillo. Andrew Caine Perkins FORT BRAGG, N.C. - Sgt. Andrew Caine Perkins, 27, died Monday, March 5, 2007, in Iraq.
